  • Poi buzzsaw flowers were the first poi trick I learned that mixed up timing and direction between the hands and the poi in a way that eventually set up poi hybrids. Today I'm going to show you how to do these flowers in both inspin as well as antispin, plus showing off some other cool patterns that these techniques suggest as well. This is also one of those interesting poi tricks for beginners that can be thought of both as a flower as well as a fountain!

Got to say as a beginner to spinning Drex you are the best teacher. After a few weeks I’ve got loads of basics mastered. 2 and 3 beat weaves forward and backwards, buzzsaws, corkscrews etc. I’m struggling to get clean flowers and both hands doing different moves and clean transitions. I’ll keep trying and watching the master of poi……..Drex

Hanging on to those extra beats on the side on purpose can also make for a fun move / set of moves--play around with moving your hands up and down on one side, and you can end up with smooth arm-circles while you do an arbitrary number of petals with the poi. Good for slowing things down, without actually slowing the *poi* down.

Agreed! I barely scratched the surface of what's possible with this type of thinking. Maybe I'll do a follow-up video that goes more in depth on it.
