I really want to try RHEL because I am a 3D artist who creates just as much as he games. Most of the 3D software I enjoy using like Maya, Unity, Blender etc we’re built with enterprise Linux in mind. Thanks for showing that RHEL is more versatile that it may appear
Thank you so much for showing how to install neofetch, htop and other useful tools. I was going round in circles trying to install those! Much appreciated. More RHEL tips please! Best wishes.
Yep your limited to 16 installations, but if you have to reinstall you can to go to the redhat website and called the active subscriptions that are utilized.
I have to admit, RH is terrible on getting this message out about the free sub program - not to mention OpenShift, Ansible automation platform, and the RH Software Collection (with the various development frameworks and tools) are ALSO covered under this program. Anyone can get hold of all these tools for free and learn more about these Enterprise-level tools, and the biggest source of spreading this info has been community grass roots/word of mouth.
one thing i love about people making videos about using linux is how basically nothing works 😆 i swear this is not meant to be a digg. i use it myself and it is what it is - it's just amusing.
I always hopped distros and got tired, always been curious of daily driving redhat, I use it at work in all the servers but never tried using it... I knew it was expensive but there is a developer licence... So far it's been great!
Great to hear! Honestly the main reason i dropped it was because gnome 40 just isn't polished enough thematically for me and jumped up to fedora after, however Im currently experimenting with kde plasma right now since it's not really an environment I live in.
Going for RHCSA soon. Installed bare metal to daily drive as well as setup a virtual machine in vmware. Going forward, how do you think RHEL will fare in the enterprise world with recent events? Do you think companies will abandon ship for ubuntu/debian/OpenSUSE?
RHEL still has a HUGE market share in government contracts and as far as I've been able to tell hasn't actually lost any costumers in any noticeable amount. That said if your concerned you could chase after LPIC-1 and 2 instead of the RHCSA which gives you a more generalized certification.
hey, how is it as a daily driver. got a developer lisence and considering making it a daily driver! i am a big distro hopper lol. i mainly browse the internet, do school, and game. i love your videos man, thanks.
I am looking for a work daily driver. I am currently running PopOS and I am having issues with using multiple monitors and Nvidia Drivers. My manager is telling me to just go Debian. What are your thoughts on RHEL 9 for a work environment. I am thinking of pulling a laptop off the shelf just for a trial. Cant really distro hop my work machine.
🙂 neat, i didnt know there was a free version now, so that developer license, can just anyone sign up? or do you have to enter your work information and state that your an IT dude? thx

I remember Red Hat Linux was around in the late 90s/early 2000s but I never had the chance to use it. Didn't realise a version of it was still around, but I guess it's more for corporate users than home users
The younger Trevor from the game GTA V. xD

It's alright as a daily driver. They do use an older kernel so do t get too aggressive with the new GPUs

What about the telemetry on red hat?
What about? You can audit all the data red hat sees and none of what's sent or received is proprietary.
Telemetry is anonymous small pieces of data
Hi good morning.
How to install the glances in rhel 9 ?
Thank you.

Should work but if it's for production you should pay the sub.
Otherwise Alma or Rocky will work fine as their just rhel forks.
You will have problems with nvidia drivers no matter which distro you are going to try.
Nice.
Are you perhaps the guy who goes onto DT's livestream on a regular basis?
Used to, not so much anymore but Im the Gentoo guy.

You do have to enter some identification stuff, but they'll let anyone sign up for it.

hello! very good video. You can install the fedora epel repository to get better and more up-to-date packages.
Is it free still?
Yep
Ubuntu user using RHEL ^^
Use Fedora not Redhat.
Why?

It's free and open source software, I'll do what I want.

Yeah, Fedora broke out to consumers from Red Hat. Fedora for consumers, Red Hat for Enterprise.
