It’s rare to watch a ranking video of 25+ films, and not feel that there was a bad take. Personally, the first Toy Story is my favourite. The Toy Story films are the perfect kids films, in that they’re about growing up. So when you return to them as you age, they miraculously grow in depth, allowing the viewer’s connection to the film(s) to grow. What was once a film about jealousy and friendship when I was a kid tiring out my VHS copy, has now become an existentialist work, daring to ask what matters in life when meaning seems to have been lost. Anyway, great video.
Elemental worked for me, I found it very relatable. Then I did marry someone from half-way across the planet. I wonder if the director's vision just doesn't reach much beyond people who pretty much had that exact same experience.
Such a great rundown and video! I would never want to subject anyone to watch all movies of a studio other than maybe Pixar or Ghibli (sorry to whoever suffered through Earwig though). But if you ever feel like something similar I would love hearing your top 5 of other studios, too.
This is how i personally rank all 28 Pixar films 28: Cars 2 27: Lightyear 26: The Good Dinosaur 25: Brave 24: Turning Red 23: Cars 3 22: Toy Story 4 21: Finding Dory 20: A Bugs Life 19: Monsters University 18: Onward 17: Cars 16: Luca 15: Elemental 14: Incredibles 2 13: UP 12: The Incredibles 11: Coco 10: Soul 9:Monsters Inc 8: Inside Out 7: Wall-E 6: Toy Story 2 5: Inside Out 2 4: Ratatouille 3: Toy Story 2: Finding Nemo 1: Toy Story 3
Thoroughly enjoyable video! I haven't seen most of these but it was a fun ride anyway. I was a big Cars fan, never knew they went with a eugenics sequel, good to know ;)
Funny enough, that actually might be the case. The first Cars film was originally going to feature McQueen and Sally watching a spy film that was later cut, and Lasseter used that as inspiration for the sequel. Plus, in 3, there's a moment where McQueen is scrolling through channels, and for a second, you see a frame of Cars 2, implying that it is an in-universe film.
Oh my. When I got to #9 (my personal favorite, which makes me choke up at its wisdom and heartbreak and joy and laughter every time it crosses my mind) I was all "only #9!? the outrage!" but it's impossible to fault your choices for 1-8. This is a wonderful list, and I'm amazed at how many I've missed over the last few years. Personal trivia: my dad was near death in another state when I saw Coco, and wow was that a journey. I 100% agree The Little Dinosaur was a waste of a stellar (ha) premise. You didn't mention Albert Brooks' tremendous vocal work in Finding Nemo (and, ok, Finding Dory), but I could talk about it all day. I reeeeeaally need to re-watch Wall-E and The Incredibles, I'd forgotten how much I loved them. I do hope they recover the magic and gift us another 15-20 years of golden treasure. (For your next ranking, I'd be keen to hear your thoughts on "lesser known but dynamite movies of the 70s" or some such. So many of the "greats" get so much airtime -- deservedly so! I mean Dog Day Afternoon holy cow! -- but the decade is chockablock with greatness. I have a tough time ranking things, so I like doing groups in tier lists like the kids these days are so into.)
I loved Brave. I think it's very much aimed at girls and their mothers. I can understand it not appealing to everyone but I liked the fact that we got a family dynamic explored that didn't get much light in any other Disney or Pixar film and is quite essential to the female experience

This video was really well spoken, I’ve only watched a few of your videos but I’m already loving them. Keep up the good work chief 🫡

my friend has a headcannon that cars 2 was a movie that the characters starred in as themselves

The fact that you said you were excited for Lightyear pretty much signalled that all freaking Toy Story movies were going to be in your Top 10.
Happy to see ur new video🥰
You did it. You made a video I can watch while eating.
Also, you would make a cute femboy
I think you deserve way more subs you’re a great reviewer who has obviously done your research on cinema
This is so weird
How?? 😭
I'm glad you gave turning red a little bit of love! It's unfortunate that it didn't get the cinema run it deserved.
