Im missing about 100 tapes with all this stuff from senior yr , glad to see someone keeping this stuff alive the new shit sucks, and these kids have no soul today
This is what was playing in certain clubs in Chicago, and we all referred to it as House Music - long before there were any house tracks pressed on vinyl and/or before it was established as its own genre. It will always be the original House Music as far as any of us are concerned.
my brother Dino spinned at THE EL MIRADOR in chicago with Kenny Jason 1982. this music was considered GARAGE. most of this music was played in NY, the paradise GARAGE warehouse. most of those early songs on WBMX were from record pools, they were imported to the USA. Faster songs were Italo, Slower songs were Electro, most of them any way. The term House music came from THE WAREHOUSE night club later on. Frankie Knunckles brought his NY collection with him. DJs scrambled to find his music. HOUSE!
I LOVE ALL OF THIS HOTMIX MUSIC, CHICAGO PRODUCED HOUSE MUSIC LOOK ON THE RECORD LABELS TO SEE. AS WELL AS FREESTYLE, HIGH ENERGY, ITALO DISCO. IF IT WASN'T FOR 102.7 FM WBMX "HOTMIX" 5, AND THEN SHORTY AFTERS 106.7 FM WGCI. MANY CHICAGO PPL WOULD NOT HAVE EVER HEARD ANY OF THIS GREAT MUSIC EVEN MORE "IMPORTANT" HOUSE MUSIC TRAXS THAT PAVE THE WAVE FOR ANY MUSIC STYLE AND SOUNDS THAT CAME OUT AFTERS. THE WAY AND STYLE YOU SPEAK OF WAS THE WAY A DJ MADE HIS OR HER "HOTMIX'
Ahhhhh... but yet, it IS House Music... Before House became it's own genre, it was merely a way/style of playing/mixing/presenting other forms of music that preceeded it, just like the original Hip Hop DJs did. I'd guess you were picking up on it in the mid 80's when the first "House Tracks" were being cut.
You seem passionate enough that I should tell you; I know what you mean, but you're missing a very important piece to House Music History if you don't consider this House.
