I often forget that I have an accent. I know other UA-camrs in Scotland such as Ray @RenegadeScot are slower and more precise with there language. Hopefully you could understand most of what I was saying. 😊😂 Thanks for watching. G ♥️ 🏴
Thanks. I know myself how hard the planning can be and the anxiety a first long distance hike can cause. Enjoy your adventure and thanks for watching. G ❤️ 🏴
@@redmanwalking74yes, though I'm only new to the WHW I'vedone some stomping, just hadn't down the west highland motorway as I usually favour more isolation, but still particularly appreciate knowing all these details for lightening.
Another great film thank you with lots of fantastic information, the WHW at the end of April or beginning of May this year 2024 will be my first long distance walk and I will be doing it solo. So any information or suggestions you have will be appreciated, thank you for another excellent film, regards Chris. 👍👍👍
Thanks Chris. First thing to say is, you're never really walking the trail solo. You'll have a group of like minded souls on a similar journey as you, travelling along each day. Get chatting and make some new friends. I'm toying with the idea of using baggage transfer this time. Still undecided. Will it feel like cheating!? I dont know? I feel another video in the making. 😊 I'll have finished my trip by the time you go. My current WHW Days videos are ok but I was just starting to get the hang of talking to a camera. Hopefully the new videos will give an improved insight into walking the trail "solo". Thanks again for all the kind comments and good luck with your own WHW adventure. G ❤️ 🏴
@@redmanwalking74thank you for your reply, I look forward to you next WHW film they have all contained some great information for me. I did think about baggage transfer but I would first like to do it unsupported, before I get too old I’m almost 60 now with some health issues. If I can do the whole WHW carrying my gear I will be very happy, I’m doing as much planning and preparation as possible and your experience and film are contributing to that tremendously. Thank you, regards Chris. 🍻👍👍👍
@@chrisholt2474 I turn 50 this year and I never feel very strong on the first couple of days. By days 3 and 4 it starts to get easier and if you can avoid any blusters, you'll feel like an absolute tank when you walk that final stretch into Fort William. 💪😊👍
@@redmanwalking74I am looking forward to the challenge, taking sensible precautions, yes I hope to build up some more strength before I set off. I’m not sure how much strength I will need or what level to build up to? I will give it my best shot, regards Chris. 🍻👍👍
Aye, We used to fill up on the rule if it was fast.flowing it would be safe... Now I'm older and with a more sensitive stomach I prefer to filter. I've tried the MSR trail shot - clogs easily, the sawyer - a faff. So now I sacrifice a bit of weight and carry a Katadyn Vario. It has ceramic, paper and carbon filters. If you don't like tannins, it will make even peaty water crystal clear. It also screws direct onto a nalgene and every part is replaceable. I've never had a bad stomach from water in Scotland, even unfiltered. However, French tap water always gets me😊
A case of the "thurpney bits" is the last thing you need on a 96 mile journey! 😳🥴💩 I took my filter again this year and yet again it was never used. Next time I walk the trail I'll be leaving it behind. Thanks for watching. G ♥️ 🏴
Precious information for my upcoming trip. Also, a good exercise for a non native English speaker to familiarize with the Scottish accent!
