The Grid racing games handling model often had the cars feeling like they are floating. Some of those people work on the F1 game now.
The 2019/2020 games were even worse
Grid 2 had this effect, even Grid Autosport.
It's not even floaty that usually comes with slip and feels like you sre losing traction this game has to much! Full throttle on so many corners you shouldn't be able to lol. It's sickening. Yes it looks like it floats on screen but when playing it's to to easy.

Quick reminder to some people, just in case they aren't aware. I would generally take the opinion of all the time trial merchants as well as esports drivers with a pitcher of salt. These people spend HOURS upon HOURS if need be, perfecting setups to exploit the game's possibility to the maximum to go faster, whether realistic or not. They also drive equal cars (which means the fastest car that is the RB, just with different skins) so of course they have the most grip, especially with insane TT setups. The average player will not do that, especially in career. They'll bolt on a preset, do some minor adjustments, go out on track, do practice and continue on with the race weekend. Afterwards they will go to another race, just like real F1 drivers do it.
In Time Trial you can not only spend 32590808034 hours perfecting the setup for one track, you can teleport back and forth between the garage and track - just to adjust one minor detail. So of course on those maxed out setups there will be more grip than there would be without, especially when non-equal cars in career or GP mode come into play.
They are pro drivers for a reason and they KNOW their stuff, without a doubt. But they also sit inside of fastest Red Bulls all day long, bolting on crazy setups to extract every drop of performance.
edit: I forgot to mention the invincibility factor. Real F1 drivers don't push to the absolute limit lap after lap because there is many factors: tyre wear, their life, the car that would be best if it didn't happen to spin off into gravel or hit a wall etc. Nothing Time Trial merchants have to worry about.
Insane setups + infinite practice possibility with no risk of any harm to car or driver + perfect tyre temp conditions and track + a simcade type of driving model (at best simcade) and SHOCKER, they are fast, too fast. With too much grip. WAOW.
I think at 4:01 when talking about ERS, after the green bar depletes and you can not use anymore ERS, I think it kept depleting ERS even though you couldn't use it, but now it wom't.
The AI is definitely making more mistakes than before, because when I was doing free practice in Bahrain, I saw 4 AI drivers locking their tires at turn 10.

Twice at monza i was putting my ferrari teammate under pressure and he locked up and ran wide giving me the lead and then the win. I like the latest patch.
Seems a logical step that in lowspeed you hace more understeer. With more downforce you should have a sharp nose in medium/highspeed corners.

Your observations are similar to mine;
- Default setups feel great, but as soon as you go for more aggressive setups the weird feeling starts
- The patch seems to have fix this weird feeling in the low to medium speed corners, but in high speed corners it still feels too arcady. Silverstone Maggots, Becketts and Stowe also feel weird still, too much front grip.
- Traction seems still too easy (but that might ve how it is irl, Idk)
I am surprised no one else had experienced the bug where I got stuck in the pit, unable to rejoin the race, bc the team in front of my pit crew was stuck like they were doing a 2 driver stop, but the 2nd driver fell asleep while waiting. It wasn't until I retired from the race that the 2nd driver got the green light to pull in. They ended the race a full 2 min behind the pack. That was how long I waited before I was forced to retire. Guess I'm just the unlucky one😂

I don't know but I've been having so much fun with AMS 2 recently. it feels more like how I think an F1 car should behave. if codemasters did a handling similar to that while keeping it accessible, it would be great. Because AMS 2 is quite punishing when you have the wrong setup or go off line or have changeable conditions.

There's a f1 23 mod that literally has the F1 24 cars, not just a reskin of the default car but the car models are 1 to 1 with F1 24. There's literally no reason to buy F1 24 when you can just install a mod that gives you those cars in F1 23. The only thing I like about F1 24 is the driver career mode and driver radios
What makes me laugh is you have a pc which likely costs a few grand but aren’t willing to spend £50/£60 on a game😂u put all ur savings into buying ur PC or something. This game is decent don’t care what the sim racers say car feels nice to drive and can be challenging at times
idk why ordinary people who play career mode react so much to handling that sim drivers complain, they complain cause they use absolute limits of handling and then they discover bad things about it, playing career you won’t have any issues with it now post patch cause there are no more those random snaps, it actually is fun that we have oversteery car to drive lol

ngl, this patch saved the game for me. i found the first handling model undriveable.
Ngl it's still bad. As a casual player, if I make the slightest error in throttle or steering, I lose traction & spin.
And this wouldn't happen in f1 2020 or 2021.

From my perspective, I play on controller with medium traction control and it became a lot worse to control. The rear end snaps a lot more and even if you touch the kerb a little bit you have to pray that it doesn’t spin. For sure it was too easy before the patch (for controller players) but now is basically f1 22 with a more pointed front end. Obviously it still manageable, you have to be careful on the accelerator and you solve the problem.
The way i prefer to play F1 games, with gamepad instead of my wheel and TC on
Yeah it’s a lot worse now for me on controller. Getting wheel spin with medium tc up to 5th gear at some points. Just did a 25% race at Canada and ended up with nearly 30% worn rears after 6 laps. Was trying to take it easy as well and played every F1 game since F1 World Grand Prix 2 on N64

One thing i truly hate now is that my wheel isn't 1-1 with the game wheel. I used to have 360° before but am having to run 470°. That really annoys me
to be fast on the old handling you actually had to turn it down I used 300 around hungary for example and most esports drivers do that because the turning has to be so aggressive to be fast
(I havent driven the new handling yet but i doubt its the same with understeer now)
But you can just adjust the degrees to make it 1-1 right

I haven’t got the game yet so I’m so expert but - surely the cars need to be extremely sensitive at higher speeds !? And more clumsy at low speed … also maybe the higher gear ‘meta’ is gone which is why at higher gears out of slow corners the car feels sloppy which also doesn’t seem wrong ?
More low speed understeer and sharp on high speed. Realistic no?
That would be logical, but then these TT merchants put on insane maximised setup they have spent hours perfecting on every single track, drive in a very unrealistic manner with no fear of their life or for the car - AND THEN they wonder: why so much grip? why so much faster than real life?
Hey Tom, what is your wheel radius in this gameplay? It looks like wheel sensitivity issue can be resolved if radius is increased to 540. At least, it was what I did in beta. Otherwise it felt like driving with the keyboard keys.

Don’t buy it till another update comes out. The only thing it changed for me was less locking up, a hint of oversteer, and better load sensitivity. Still WAYY TOO MUCH GRIP.

Real F1 drivers apply minimal wheel rotation and you can see it in any on board... The game is good and UA-cam community is butthurt cause all they care about is if they can beat 110 AI to boost their little dick's ego... They say they want "realism" but they really don't... They want to show off and flex and nothing more

8th gear has been rubbish on quite a number of F1 games the last sector at spar, monza , suzuka , and canada, does not have much effect, you find you lose time , and end up downshiffting to 7th .
Still you can lap 5sec faster than real lap times ?
I had the game after spending 5 gruelling days on career mode to find suddenly the game stalled on contract negotiations so i took the game back got a refund

Hey Tom there is a glitch in F1 career mode where u are in practice and if the session ends u will be stuck in the loading screen
I loaded up f1 24 went too choose ferrari for my season 2 off jacques villeneuve career mode & it was swapped out & McLaren option for haas & williams. So I went for Alpine which let me choose up too a 3 year contract offer. Driver swaps for season 2 on mine are lewis too ferrari. Russell too sauber. Zhou too Haas. Ocon & sainz too mercedes. I went for powertrains only scenario option

First thing i noticed during the trial is that the engine sounds were so trash i was missing my gear change timings cause i was reving the hell out of it without realising. Never done that on another racing game before. Awful sound design
The sharpness is not here when u use controller. The car is not stearing at all. Not even witg 50 0 wings.
Red Bull sound like an Indycar. I think we should bring back F1 22 onboard sounds

Why do codemasters sell the game unfinished?
Because it sells just as is. They don't want to make a great game it just needs to sell x amount every year.
For Controller, the patch made it worse, TC is horrific, slipping and sliding way too much.

When they are going to sort out gear 8 it's been rubbish since F1 2021. And I was playing F12020 the other day and it wasn't that brilliant on that .
Well its still very bad for me. No grip in slow speeds low gear corners.
Honestly i think this patch made it worse. There was nothing wrong with it, on wheel with no assists it was fine 😂

You'd think FOM would've been breathing down EA's neck because this is the "Official Game of Formula 1" and whatnot - so they would've delayed for a better player experience that was actually worth the $70 price point.
They should've stuck with the summer date and/or decreased the price. But both organizations (EA and FOM) want their money, and that's why we're in this situation in the first place.

The best handling I ever drove with on the F1 games is going away due to cry babies who want nothing to do with real driving. I read somewhere that Max Verstappen said it’s the closest to a real f1 car out of all the F1 games. And the people crying about the handling only drive the Red Bull. It’s a very pointy car. The Williams is almost the opposite sort of. Every car felt so different. Now we back to the generic plug and play to suit the exploiters *cough* I mean the e sports drivers *cough*

@@AtMyOwnPace10 the cars really didnt feel different though lmao. i could take corners at the same speeds and get the same lap times no matter the performance of the car. a williams shouldnt be able to take corners flat that a red bull can. example: at australia t9 and 10 in real life its only been raken flat by valterri bottas in 2019 but in the f1 game on f1 24 you can take t9 and 10 flat out while staying at 250kph which drivers cant even do in real life.
And now it almost feels as understeery and abnormal as F123🥲🥲

I used to buy this every year, not bought it since F1 22 now. I only play career mode but the AI cars are ridiculous, in F1 22 I've now played 3 full 10 year career seasons and that is a lot of races and in all that time, I've only seen the AI cars crash twice and only seen an engine blow once. This feels like the AI is soulless and boring, they need to make the AI cars make the occasional mistake, it's too boring as it is. I guess they just do the minimal work and throw it out for another £60. It's a real shame because this could be really good if they actually worked on it.
Ruined it. I want my money back and devs to stop giving games to streamers. Devs should act like influencers don't exist.

Agreed ,what i paid for i was happy with and i did not require a patch for , yes i know it will be in the TnCs but this is just EA going weak at the knees and giving into pressure from a certain "group"! They should of stuck to there guns and stood by what they released ....otherwise they shouldn't have released it when they did.
