What celebrity drum solos should I rank next time?
i dont know any that you haven't done
You could do Eric Carr, he's a widely known musician celeb that played in the Carolina Crowns a few years ago
Charlie Callas, Sammy Davis Jr., Mel Torme, BIll Burr
Riz Ahmed in Sound of Metal
Hi
7:21 I think those were half open hats. You can definitely see them opening slightly upon the strike, then fully open on the offbeat. I think his drum solo was totally legit.
I agree, looks like they're slightly open.
Same here.! Agreed!
Worst case scenario I think he could have pre recorded his solo and flubbed the miming a little on set... This seems to me like it would totally need a recorded track to make it work for the cameras without proper on set micing!!
@@G60syncro The Drums are defenitly not recorded with more than room mic
It absolutely is legit. This guy is a clown.
Until a few years ago I only had vague memories of John Stamos as Uncle Jessie playing a couple instruments from Full House, then one day I looked up his drumming and I was insanely happy to find that he's pretty solid! I really enjoy when actors playing musicians are actually decent musicians who have a real appreciation for their instrument
John Stamos actually played drums off and on with the Beach Boys.
That's how I feel when I watch "A Mighty Wind"... Especially the Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Connor duo ... If you get a chance, listen to a song on the soundtrack called "One More Time". Reply your thoughts please
Fun fact: Stevie Wonder recorded the drums on a lot of his records by himself :)
Fun fact: Stevie Wonder recorded most of the instruments on his records by himself
Eric Stonestreet is for sure a drummer! He’s come and played with the K-State drumline before and gifted their pep band kit, a 7 piece silver and purple custom DW :)
Good morning! This is video number 44 of me asking Eric to make a set of tenors out of differently sized or tuned snare drums.
Yes
Like made of drum set snares or marching snares?
Also I 100% want this too
I had the same idea lol
He said he would if he had enough money
I really appreciated the Stevie Wonder clip! Not enough people are aware of his drum chops! The man could do it all!
For sure! I’m quite a few of his records, he played (I think) every instrument. Insanely talented man
Pretty sure he can still do a lot of it. He’s getting older , but he’s still around. There’s a video of him playing keyboards at the NAMM show from not too too long ago that is pretty neat.
@@jakegodman Yes, although there are some guest musicians on all of his albums. Whenever you hear horns or guitar (or bass guitar), that's not Stevie. But the keyboard (which often also means synth bass), harmonica and drum parts are most often played by Stevie.
I dunno the high hat looks good to me it does the closed sound and then it rings out when opening it.
Not counting the fact that he drummed on most of his 70s hits. "Superstition" for exemple, to name only one.
I am very surprised you did not know Stamos was a drummer for the Beach Boys. That is why the Beach Boys were on Full House LOL
There's an epic drum off on the Tonight Show between Will Ferrell and Chad Smith. You should definitely add Will Ferrell to your celebrity drummer list. Also Dana Carvey playing drums as Garth from Wayne's World. He also did a solo as the Church Lady on SNL!
The Will Ferrell one is fake
He’s done those already.
Ferrel doesn't play his parts at all.
Classic
That Christian Bale clip was his character blowing off steam, hence the very hard handed playing.
Danny Davito never gets F tier on anything he does, man lives his life S tier!
At least he made S tier on Smosh's short-king ranking.
This man is the reason I started playing drums
Hey EMC! Love your reaction videos as always! A suggestion for something to react to would be Sherwood HS 2022 - I Am The Wind at WGI Finals. It was our first time in Dayton and it would be amazing to see your reaction to it!
Little trick for the triangle players out there: you should definitely check out Brazilian music. They really bust that triangle, and grooving hard with it. It'll make you think different about that instrument that you play one time every 64 bar in orchestras!
Eric Stonestreet really plays drums, there's a lot videos on his instagram profile.
You should check Lars Ulrich! He has really solid chance to get C or maybe even a B!
Let’s not push it. D or C at best
@@RishiJalukar Right?
The Modern Family drumming seems legit to me. Seems like his opening the hats right after hitting them closed. The sound matches up from what I can tell.
Jerry Trainor played the drums on an episode of the original iCarly, I wonder where he'd be on the tier list!
Love Mr. Bean being in the S tier. His solo is really one of the best around.
Love this video. Another celeb that played the drums was Jazzy Jeff on an episode of Fresh Prince of Belair
I love these... makes me happy to know my drum-shittery senses still tingle!
Stevie Wonder played the drums on Superstition and a bunch of his other tracks. Definitely a drummer, too.
I got to see John Stamos play with The Beach Boys in the 80s.
The most hilarious is Christian Bale playing
"By Demons be Driven" hahahah
The pay off for that battle between the drum and the triangle player is that the triangle player secretly knows how to play the bagpipes and hid his kilt and bagpipes behind a tree before the battle. The triangle player was trolling the drum player and audience because he knew he was the better musician.
Eric's drum soolo is legit. It's hard to explain but he raises the hat just a little to get that open hat sound and then he raises it up more after that so it doesn't make the open hat sound at the top
I remember seeing a clip from the MASH tv show where Radar played a nice jazzy drum solo.
I thought John Stamos was gonna phone it in with that intro but he slayed it and on an episode of full house.
Gary Burghoff. MASH Season 1 episode 24. "Showtime". Radar (Gary Burghoff) plays drums with traveling USO show. S Tier performance.
Agreed, also Bob Craine with Hogan's Heroes. Both were Jazz drummers as well as actors.
Listen to Kokomo by The Beach Boys and you’ll see John Stamos playing the steel drums
No thanks
4:38 damny devito I thought he would get a better rating because isnt it how so many of us started ;)
We don't necessarily know if that's his true skill level. I suspect that performance was mostly a fabrication for his character.
Haha this is painful but hilarious to watch some of it really good too! Very cool!!!
Stevie Wonder got his name when he auditioned for Motown Records founder Barry Gordie and proceded to play every instrument in the room-including drums. he was only 12 years old. Gordie said "Stevie is a wonder!" And it stuck.
John Stamos actually plays or played drums with The Beach Boys.
Yeah, that was the audio from him playing, he was opening the hats as he was hitting it, which gave it a slightly open sound
Caddicarus has a few drum covers. Take a look at those.
You reached the number one EMC, GREAT JOBBBBB
Bro Stevie Wonder was actually originally a drummer. His first paying gig was as a drummer. He even played drums on a ton of his albums. Superstition is his groove.
He’s also pretty proficient on guitar, bass, harmonica and quite a few others I think
Anderson paak
Tank(R&B singer)
Dc youngfly
Smino
Pharrell Williams
😂😂 we had fun with Shaq and Steve Harvey ❤❤❤❤
05:07 actually Christian Bale never played drums before and he practiced with a teacher 2 weeks for this movie, btw the song is By Demons Be Driven by Pantera
By demons be driven is underrated
Stevie Wonder is still weird to include, because he was a studio drummer for years before he got famous for his own songs. And he has recorded the drums to many of his own songs, including the studio drums on superstition. I'm not saying it is weird to include musicians, but musicians who has previously played drums professionally before switching instrument seems pointless.
Eric I think you forget that shaq has massive hands and that first clip was probably like playing with chop sticks for him 💀💀
yes back at it again
8:10 I think he's doing it. You get the sloshy-up sound when you open the hats slightly after hitting them.
Dude, you left out quarterback Doug Flutie! There is a video somewhere out there of him sitting in doing the soundcheck for his favorite band. I can't recall the band at the moment. Possibly Blink 182 not sure though.
Did my boy Christian Bale dirty
5:20 literally how I play live, something happens and this is it
I've seen John Stamos play with the Beach Boys (yes that was real, he was a real member and toured with them for many years)
If you don't mind reaching back in time a bit. Johnny Carson and Sammie Davis Jr. were drummers.
Eric Stonestreet is definitely doing hi-hat barks
There’s a live show out there of James Hetfield from Metallica playing drums while lars sings. Great clip funny too
Shaq raps flows, he has rhythm, he gets a C for his little marching dance and terry towel muffler on his snare.
Danny Devito gets a B for his impersonation of 'Animal'
Eric was right on time w the hi-hat chokes imo A
Christian was pissed flubbing Pantera jam on his first take! D
Subjective comment B
You still owe us a triangle concerto!!
It's a sizzle. Hitting hi hat while opening is a sizzle.
8:20
It’s live dude, this guy is a beast on drums wtf
EMC, I guarantee Stonestreet wasn’t playing live in that clip. I the film world, you 9 times outta 10 only record dialogue on set, everything else is done later.
One of the first concerts I ever went to was the Beach Boys with John Stamos on drums at Wolftrap. I didn't know he was an actor at the time!
Wolftrap is such a great venue
I definitely want a triangle solo.
Johnny Carson - you may already know that he played (very well). I enjoy your videos but haven’t seen them all so I don’t know if you already addressed his playing.
you gave CB a "D", im thinking thats a solid "B"
It was like playing One when he did the double bassing. So yeah maybe a C but barely a D.
You should review Neil Peart’s solo from R30.
Danny looks to me he knows how to play but stiffens up his wrists to look like a noob on purpose. but his elbow placement looks legit, and he always strikes down with the sticks. And he was moving his left leg seemingly in time.
Just saw a clip Bill Burr playing Bonzo Bash. Pretty good.
Good morning. There's a clip making the rounds of the late Karen Carpenter playing drums. Since you've done Stevie, Bruno and other musicians, you should rank her drum skills.
She was a drummer before she was a singer
Look up Axel Fagerberg Shaker Solo. Strägnäs 2010. He tied for first in multi percussion that year if my memory serves me correct
I don't think you can accurately rank Danny Devito from that clip. It was from a TV show and was almost certainly intentionally bad. The character was obviously supposed to believe he was much better at the drums than he actually was.
You inspired me to start my channel!!
I need to see you rank james hetfield
That's that Shaq single stick roll 🤣
I was looking for an AC Slater drum solo.
look up Johnny Carson. He did a really cool jazz drumset solo!
what movie was that with Christian Bale?
hi EMC, you should look at James Hetfield's drumming
I went to HS with Shaq. I was a trumpet player in varsity band. Shaq...🥁...was not.
Also, I saw Chicago & Beach Boys in 1989 at the Dallas Starplex Amphitheater, and John Stamos was the drummer for the BB.
The middle finger simulation with the mallet definitely won the contest for triangle man
You didn’t do your homework on some of these. Guessing when there’s actual answers out there to be had with very little research.
“EMC participates in class but doesn’t always do his homework. He gets a D”
Johnny Carson..Sammy Davis...Fred Astaire...Mickey Rooney!
Danny Devito drums? Fuck yeah!!!
Good morning, Day 3 of asking EMC to make a tenor set of flub drums.
Shaq was wearing dead raccoons on his feet
Triangle solo, here we come!!!! 😁
You should do a reaction/quick transcription to something with Zach Hill! I'd love to see Biblical Violence or Better Get A Broom off Hella's first album. There's also some great solo videos of him on UA-cam.
Important to note he exclusively uses a SINGLE kick pedal. Or at least I have never seen a clip of him using one. He's a beast. Check out "zach hill blood on drums" for a fun time
Ok. Now have a drummer play basketball against Shaq.
Two recommendations would be DJ Jazzy Jeff from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Emma from The Wiggles.
You skipped the part where triangle dude comes back and plays bagpipes ACDC
Can you rate Thom Yorke playing drums?
I had no idea Stevie Wonder could play the drums.
As soon as I saw stevie wonder on here I smiled
Dana Carvey as “the Church Lady”
YES
Watch the movie Whiplash with Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons, great movie.🤘 Christian Bale playing Pantera is great!🤘
The modern family clip is totally real the hi hat was opening you can clearly see it
Video 24 of asking EMC to make a video of him playing the Rock Band game series
stevie tracked drums on a bunch of his songs tho eric
Bring on the triangle solo
christian bale played by demons be driven by pantera
Bale should get extra points for playing By Demons be Driven, by Pantera 🤘🤘🤘
I don't understand about Stevie Wonder. That's like putting Dave Grohl or Karen Carpenter in here. I mean, he was a singer, songwriter, drummer, played keyboard and apparently harmonica.
Edit: I wrote this just before I heard him explain about how drums weren't Stevie's main instrument, but didn't he play drums on many of his songs? I don't think he had a main instrument, did he?
