I'm 46 with a wife and two boys, firmly ensconced in the family life. Listening to this song I was back in college being a lunatic,if only for three min.
I was nuts about this band and was lucky to have seen them live (twice) in London at the end of the 80s, and still have most of their LPs on Vinyl. Truly great band uncompromised by the dollar amd fashion.
They were at their very best during this era. I've liked everything they've done. Great live--Dan Stuart never disappoints. He's always got something to say and he's on the money and funny every time.
What a fucking song - seem them in Birmingham UK in 1991. Stuart and Prophet were brilliant.CountryPunk/Rock combo. Brilliant. ...when you're young at heart....
Played in a band called Repo Ranch in Atlanta in the late 80s, and this was one of the songs we covered at our 1st gig at TJ's Landing in Buckhead in '88. Always a great song and band. One of the first alt-country bands I remember. Love this song.
Why dont you America-nos appreciate good country music? these bands used to have to come to the UK to get a good listen, went to see these ole boys so many times along with the Longryders, beat farmers, Steve Earle etc, oh and the partridge family., and im only 16.
These guys got me very drunk in Aberdeen, Scotland. I'm trying to remember the year. I remember the venue it was "the venue" Dan & the drummer got in a fight after they did a jumpin jack flash cover & Dan threw the bass drum across the stage. happy happy days!!!!!
In retrospect there was definitely severe drunkeness in Aberdeen but that Jumin Jack Flash fight with the drummer may have been Edinburgh. It was a long time ago & I saw them a few times around then. Steve Earle opened for them. I may be conflating different gigs again but I'm pretty sure that happened.
Walking down dusty roads Looking for horny toads With the sun on my back Thinking about people past Memories that never last When you're young and naive Chorus Time ain't nothing When you're young at heart And your soul still burns I've seen rainy days Sunshine that never fades All through the night Had a motorcycle at 10 Never got into heroin I guess I want to live Maybe get a house someday Find a wife raise a family That don't mean you have to die

The chorus sounds like CCR’s Have You Ever Seen the Rain. It’s meaning is so beautiful and deep. I hope y’all will always be young at heart.
May you always be courageous, stand upright and be strong, may you stay forever young… .

My band covered it back around 1986/87, too! One of the first songs I could play the lead guitar parts reasonably well (for a 17-year-old, at least)
Cracking tune and great memories of a fantastic gig in Norwich back in 91
great song great band
Great tune!!!!

I wish it was easier to find their earlier, more psychedelic oriented stuff. Not to say that this song/their later material isn't great.
@BuffaloBill504 yep ged version is better and his green fields of france is one of the best songs ive heard
clueless
Peerless.
This band is terrible.
Disagree.
