One way to do a “long term” closet clean out is to do this cool hanger trick. 1st you flip all the hangers around the wrong way, then every time you wear something you flip the hanger around the right way. In a few months(you set the time limit) you see which hangers haven’t been flipped, this shows which clothes you don’t wear!
Virginia M doesn’t work too well when you have clothes that are seasonal though. I wear such a completely different wardrobe in the different seasons & some pieces only get worn like two times lol

if you need to keep track of what you wear, try turning every hanger in the closets backwards. when u wear it and are putting it back up, put it normally. then after whatever time you think reasonable, 6 months or someth, donate anything backwards that isn’t for special events! i used to be a minimalist lol

Idk if this will help, but when I clean out my closet I have a section specifically for clothes that I’m not sure if I want to keep or not. So like stuff I’m not ready to give up but I know I really don’t wear all that often. Whenever I go to clean out my closet the next time if those close still haven’t been worn then I know it’s time to get rid of them.
