She didn't want to sell them to make someone actually excited to find a clothing item they like for cheap at the thrift store! This was so nice and thoughtful of her. She even donated some expensive jeans! :)

Bailey I think (at least in my area) they only trash the stuff that’s really bad (ripped, stained, etc) that they can’t sell. Like my Goodwills move stuff from one store to another after a while to see if it sells there and then it goes to the outlet where it’s bought by pound. Maybe I just have a lot of goodwills around me so they’re able to do that? But I haven’t heard of a lot of it going to the landfill
@@DesertRockCoJewelry The thrift stores in my part of Canada are pretty good at keeping clothes. Here they get recycled if they remain on the rack for way too long.
I wish some of it she would have donated to homeless women and children's shelters, but thrift stores are just fine as well.

Most of it will end up in Africa, because thrift stores can't sell all of it and they sift through it all. 85% will end up in Africa in a land fill, no joke. There are plenty of documentaries on that. Very disturbing and sad. Please give to shelters next time people!

What I absolutely love in Mia's videos is that when cleaning her wardrobe, she just does it as we would do it, in pajamas, with trying on things on top of her own pajamas, even though it doesn't look good, we don't Care ! And I love it ! No faking, no prétention, just natural 😁

styles may change but cardigans are a classic piece and have been forever. like white v-necks or a little black dress, they're always in. Mia (no hate at all) tends to follow trends and is I think only 20-21 and does this as a job, so I wouldn't use UA-camrs or influencers as a gauge for what to wear. wear what you like!

hey, selling is a great option! sometimes charity shops get overwelmed with donations and have to throw some away. selling means you are sure it will go to a home and not a landfill :)
This is true, however when thrift stores choose what to throw out it’s usually older/ more tattered clothes or clothes that were cheaper quality to begin with. Mia’s clothes are mostly high quality expensive pieces (like reformation jeans) and likely wouldn’t be thrown out by the thrift store. Also a huge reason people don’t sell is honestly because of all the work! Imagine Mia having to take photos of and listing 12 bags of clothing?? If she doesn’t need/want the money then from her standpoint it’s a lot of wasted effort.
Not to mention even after listing and photographing all the clothing as it sells there’s constant packaging (which she would also have to invest in) and delivering to be done. Lots of work with that much clothes!
@@gandg.6830 yea but it sucks because if she sold people would buy it and resell it with hiked up prices and that kinda sucks when there's people that can't afford clothing from regular stores.
Here's a good question to ask yourself when you're getting rid of clothes "if I saw this at a store right now would I buy it?"

The Spaz That Saved The World it was a series of videos she did a while back of buying denim jackets because she needed a denim jacket. That and a crop jacket. Which is how she ended up with so many. Lol

back in december I went back to my parents house where I had most of my clothes still, and decide to get rid of everything.. I donate about 6 bags and threw away 3 of them. my mum was in tears (but I think it was because looking at the empty closet gave her the realization than I was gone for good).
I only kept the very bare essential I need for when I'm there on vacation (I live in London and my family is in Italy). it honestly felt so good.
I really appreciate how much work and effort you put into not only organization but into this video sometimes I don’t appreciate how OCD my mother made me and keeping my closet organized but after watching this video I have a mass appreciation for it because I could never imagine going through what you just went through

Exactly. And people like to say "oh she's into fashion so is normal". Yeah, but like, isn't the trend now to wear vintage and be inovative? I literally rarely see anyone like "oh this is so last season, gross", that's not enviroment friendly at all

Yea I still wear cardigans and maxi skirts! I love those items so I still wear them! Trends come and go but finding your go to classics that never go out of style is so satisfying rather than having to buy a new wardrobe for every trend season.

@@mochicat8464 it depends on in which country you live I guess. I live in the netherlands and I saw a documentery on how it is done here. Only the best clothes that are donated are sold here in second hand shops. The worst are being recycled and everything else is being shipped to Africa where buyers buy these clothes in bulk. The people there are less and less satisfied with the quality because due to fast fashion the items simply don't last that long. I was amazed that their favourite brand was Zara. And they also alter some clothes before they sell these. But they don't like that their own clothingindustry has vanished because of this system and the fact that the clothes are made of lesser quality. Probably they will buy these bulks of clothing less and less. I do agree wit wut are that her clothes are problably ging to get sold and won't end up in landfill.

I really appreciate that she donates the clothes honestly. My friend trashes stuff that is still good and it would drive me nuts! My mom raised us to give stuff away, as when she was young she used to have to go to free boxes. She said she was always so excited finding new clothes!

She had some of the stuff since she was a young teen. Her hip bones probably got a little wider as she got older. They'll probably continue to do so, so she might keep growing out of pants even if she never gains any weight.

@@catiekatz1797 that's how I was when I outgrew my red and black split Jean's from hot topic. One leg was black the other one was vampire red and I LOVED those so much! But my hips decided to get wider so I couldn't wear them anymore.
Just some advice: have someone do it with you who is in general more minimalistic. They will encourage you to give away more and in the end you will feel better, i promise you!
Some tips: do one category at a time. Or have someone help you and don't touch the clothing yourself at all. Or use the Konmari method and choose what to keep instead of what to get rid of.
