I'm a new-ish Creative Director and find your insight very helpful. I love how you dug into and showed the details of what you are working on with brand requests, team meeting workshops, and effective 1:1's. I'd love to hear more about how you structure your team and how you interact and plan with marketing.
Hi Charli, as a longtime follower, I love the new direction of this series! As a fellow Creative Director, I find it especially timely. I would love to know more about the systems/platforms you are using to work together with your design team. We are a small company, and while the rest of the team works in person, the design team is currently the only group where we all work from different places. I really struggle with understanding what my team is working on (even though we have a project management system), where their blockers are, and also how to protect them from being deluged with inappropriate requests from the rest of the account folks who have more access to them. I'd also love to hear more about how you use briefs to set a vision for new work, as I find that I keep getting dragged back into the actual design work, which majorly affects my ability to handle the leadership responsibilities that I have. Welcome back!
this is the first video i've seen from you but i thought it was very cool! i'm a creative and digital marketer from canada and love seeing how others work in the similar field
I've missed your vlogs so much! I love seeing your transition over the years from doing a lot of design work to more managing/directing a team. If you'd be happy to share it would be great to learn more about how the transition has been in terms of managing people/projects :)
Definitely happy to share more! In fact I have a story I could tell in a video about how I honestly almost quit a year or so into being Creative Director cos it wasn't what I thought it was gonna be... 😅 But what specifically would you want to know more about? I'll make sure I cover it in a future video!
Hiya Charli, long-time lurker! Glad you are back to posting. You motivated me to get into design a long-time ago. Recently started a senior design role in the last year in government in the UK. Mainly in accessbility and interaction design. Wondered if you had any best tips for giving design critiques of services (websites, forms etc) that other designers would find useful? I would also be very interested in seeing more management level work from these vlogs as theyd be useful to learn from 😊
Happy 2025 to you! I really like these vlogs, it's so helpful - it's what I wish I could've seen when I was starting out as a designer 8 years ago! So helpful to see inside the workflow of a CD and also what the day-to-day is truly like. Do you feel like UA-cam and vlogging has had a big impact on your career, has it been really beneficial in terms of design networking and how you've moved up over the years?
it's had a HUGE impact on my career. It's actually how I got my current job! (I met the founder at a conference which I was invited to speak at because I'd been making UA-cam videos consistently) glad you found the video helpful! I'm looking forward to making more 🤗
Great to see you back Charlie! As someone who is also recovering from burnout AND lives in Valencia, your videos feel very cosy and homely for me 😍Glad you're starting the year feeling better than you did last year 🥳
yaaaay! Welcome to the email list, and thanks for being subscribed to the UA-cam channel too! (I promise not every email will be a video notification...)
Charliiii!!!! Longest time. Seeing how you create time and meetings to get feedback from your team for what works and doesn't really register ed with me. We've been trying to do something similar at where I and I'm might be borrowing some inspiration from the one yiu shared. Thank you Charli for sharing! 🎉
@charlimarieTV I agree. At least based on how open ended feedback requests go right now, I think it is right about time the team tries something new like the scale.
Great vid! You mentioned that you were feeling really good about getting the outsourcing work done by those two external agencies. Is this the same kind of work your team was hiring a contractor for? If so, wouldn't it have saved lots of time and effort to speak to those agencies first, before advertising the contractor role? This way you wouldn't have needed to go through 800 applications...
it was actually the publishing of the contractor role that got the agencies on our radar! hindsight is 20/20 and in hindsight I would have asked for our recruiter not to post the role on LinkedIn jobs and just had it advertised on our careers page and through our networks so that we would have had higher intent, higher quality applications
❤ Do you think someone cant get a remote job like yours in spain or you’ll have to get the job first then relocate to Spain. I am in spain and almost giving up on finding a remote job
A friend in my yoga class just landed a new remote job for an Irish company last week! it's definitely still possible, but it absolutely has gotten a LOT harder over the last few years so it's not just you who is struggling (hope that gives you some reassurance)
I don't manage the product designers at Kit, but we are going to be hiring a new product designer soon! Keep an eye on our careers page for when that job description goes live: kit.com/careers
That kid wearing the Ferrari top has got the right thinking.
Welcome back, it is great to see you again. The cat too.
YAY! So glad to see you! Clicked immediately!

@charlimarieTV I have not! But it's now firmly on my list 🙌
I got notification from your newsletter i subscribed recently via design dev 😊
But I already subscribed you on UA-cam from last year or so 😅
yaaaay! Welcome to the email list, and thanks for being subscribed to the UA-cam channel too! (I promise not every email will be a video notification...)

do it! giving people a scale to rate on led to some really valuable insights and conversations over simply asking for open-ended feedback.

@charlimarieTV thank you. That is reassuring.
You have any opportunity to work with you as a product designer.
