The Astrology Bracelet - Capricorn Weave

- ♑ One of our New Year resolutions for 2024 is to continue our Astrology Bracelet series! In this video, we celebrate Capricorn kings and queens, who are born between Dec. 22 to Jan. 19. This particular earth sign is represented by a goat with the tail of a fish, so we HAD to use a fishtail weave as the base of our design.
We were also loosely inspired by the "Cuore" Kara Yatsu braid variation by Daria Costa, except we wanted to use a buckle and a two-strand core to make the bracelet extremely practical, much like Capricorns themselves. It took a few tries to perfect, but we liked this result! Have you ever seen this specific bracelet style before? Let us know so we can give more credit where credit is due!
TIP: Don't tighten your fishtail weave up TOO much as having a looser base will help your stitching needle glide through more easily. 🤯

When using several colors for a project how do you determine correct length of cord to minimize amount of waist? For example. Im working a 3 color snake belly bar that is 10 inch in linght for the weave part. I've been using 10 to 11 ft per color but then I have some alot more waste. Im newer to this. Just struggling with determination on how much cord is needed per color.
Great question! A good way to estimate is 1 foot of Paracord per 1 inch of bracelet weave, so for a 10-inch project, you'd need 10 feet of cord (although this can vary with those super thick weaves). From your comment, It sounds like you had about 30 feet total. Try scaling down to 6 feet per color to start. If you still have too much, try scaling down to 5 feet instead. It's always preferable to have a little extra instead of running out of cord before reaching the end.
Any way there could be a smaller or less wide version of it. I like it alot cool design., but I just don't like the width too much..
Definitely! If you pull your white loops closer to the fishtail, you could reduce the width by a couple of centimeters. You could also swap out any of the 550 cord for 425, 325, or 275 cord to make the bracelet a lot smaller.
