We may end up not liking these mats because they are harder to clean. They are cheap mats and we decided to try them out. Thanks for watching.

Looks like they stay together pretty well, roll one side over on the other side and clean then do the other side? That way you don't have to take them apart and out every time.

I was thinking about cleaning them when you were laying them down. Yeah, that might be a chore. I’m assuming there are alternatives. But all those little holes! Nice for heat maybe but not fun to clean.

I never want to say anything but I was thinking these or any mats would be counterproductive for keeping things clean. I think bare concrete floors are best unless the cows will be walking on the floors here. It’s much easier to spray with disinfectant and keep clean, ass you could see how dirt and bacteria was trapped under the old mats. If I ever leave a comment like this I’m not criticizing just thinking out loud trying to give constructive criticism.

Eric, I am so impressed by the way you and your father take care of such a beautiful farm. The way you handle all the tasks (repairs, installing new things, and equipment maintenance), the incredible care you take of all the "ladies", and the long hours you all put in, along with making your videos gives the laymen and city folks a deep and honest appreciation of what it takes to run a successful dairy farm, of any size. It is not like you can run and take off for two weeks at any time you please. I can't begin to fathom what all that would entail!! I can only hope, at some point, you can enjoy some down time. I live in a relatively rural area and I know several farmers, including the barn where I board my horses, and it is almost impossible to find qualified help for them to go away even for a few days.
Thank you for continually opening your farm up and helping to show us about the life of a 10th Generation Dairy Farmer. I am truly grateful.

They do look great. I know that these mats are used in many professional kitchens as they provide for better traction on what can be slippery floors. And mostly, they provide a nice cushion for the feet and legs for many hours of standing. I use some in my home laundry and can attest that they are not easy to clean. Thanks again for sharing!

I’m looking into getting a milking job myself so I was googling information on dairy farming and came across your channel and I really enjoy your videos. They are very informative. I grew up on a small beef farm and know farmers put there blood, sweat and tears into there farms. Keep up the good work.

As a now retired Dairy One milk tester I have seen (and appreciated) these mats. They do tend to slide and move a bit. Some farmers have used zip ties to keep mats from separating. Hope they work well for your parlor.

Looks like the black mats are going to be WAY easier to clean. Just get a few hooks on your wall, put the mats on the hooks and spray away! Plus they look better than the other mats. They are good for comfort if you have to stand on that solid ground for awhile too. I've used them many times and they are definitely much more comfortable to stand on than solid concrete.

Here's a winning idea that will drastically decrease your heating expenses an increase your level of comfort inside of your buildings you just have to tweak the idea to make it work for you -- massive mounds of compost up against the sides of your buildings we'll both insulate your buildings as well as generate heat.
After the winter you can use the compost in the fields.
I saw a UA-cam video where someone in one of the colder States like yours used this idea with a greenhouse which was actually tropical enough inside to grow citrus during the winter -- of course the sun helped.
Speaking of sun consider solar panels on all of your roofs and perhaps the southern exposure sides of your taller structures

Idk if I have said anything before but we have a creamery in town that just expanded again here in Nw Iowa and once the cheese is aged it is hauled down to Carthage Mo to the caves for Schreiber foods and is stored in the caves till they need to ship it. It is made of cheddar cheese in 70 lb blocks.

When you are washing up how is it with the little holes and drainage now compared to the flat panels? Love the jetter wash for the plant. A huge improvement on the old style that we used to have when they first came on the market. So much more hygienic and tidy. Design has come a long way 👍🤗💗🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄

I think you made a great decision changing those out to the perforated mats. The liquids will evaporate much more easily, it will heat the room, and you can use a pressure washer on the new ones every so often without destroying them entirely. Sodium percarbonate on the concrete might help with any residual mildew too, I have heard it is safer than chlorine and works just as well. Looks great though, well done.

I worked in restaurants forever. Those floor mats are in all of them. They soak up grease like a sponge and slide around on the floors. When you pressure wash them the holes kick up crap in them in all direction like a lawn sprinkler. Don't clean your walls first. Best to pull them all out every day. Spray down and hang on a rack. Do your floors and walls. Bring back inside.
