    I would definitely advise you to use adhesive to put the main rails down for the solar panels. There is some crazy strong stuff out there now. No drilling holes into your roof

    • @leighdearle5965
      @leighdearle5965 4 роки тому

      We mentioned in the video that the holes were pre existing from the roof racks installed from factory.
      We didn't drill any new holes in the roof.
      You're right though there are some impressive adhesives out there.

    Keep an eye on the performance of your solar panels.
    If you find they're not working as efficiently as you expect, it could be that they've started to overheat because you reduced the air-gap underneath them.
    Some solar panels are really, really, sensitive to this.

    • @leighdearle5965
      @leighdearle5965 4 роки тому +2

      Actually we increased the air gap with the rubber spacers for just this reason 😉
      Many years ago we cooked a flexi panel that was adhered directly to the roof by the installer.
      Lesson was learned the hard way then.

    • @leighdearle5965
      @leighdearle5965 4 роки тому +2

      When the panels were fixed to the roof rack rails they had roughly 10mm air gap.
      Now they have 20mm sitting on the spacers plus the 25mm between ridgid frame and the glass itself.

    Is there enough air under the solar panels? It’s hard to tell on the vid, ours get really hot on a warm sunny day even with three inches of air.

    Land Rover Defenders are notorious for leaking. It's only fitting that the camper on a LR Defender should also leak. :-)
