I guess my question is, does it write normally without flexing? I do not use flex nibs and would not want a nib that flexes all the time unless I exert pressure.
The only other one that comes to mind right now is a Visconti HomoSapiens with a palladium nib--and I've been waiting on one on order since last year through the nibsmith. It is taking forever!!!!
I mostly rely on companies to tell me which one I'm getting when I'm ordering, but some don't disclose which one they are using. The new Tomoe River paper is a little thicker than the old and I personally don't think that pens glide on the paper as well on the new paper (especially broader nibbed pens).
Hi, in your list, starting from the m600 and all writing samples below are showing the same line width, while nibs are some F, some M. The line looks really M to me. That is so strange.
I would not recommend using that pen for flexing. It is not meant to give line variation, and with a fine there is not enough ink flow, thus the railroading.
That does not sound typical. You may want to google how to get a full fill on your piston fill pen and if that doesn’t work, you might want to reach out to Pelikan.
I’ve been looking at the M1000 Raden pens, with the abalone inlay. So beautiful, but I’ve yet to see one for under $2000. They only come with a medium nib, I think, which makes me feel better because the medium Pelikan nibs are just too broad for me…so one good reason NOT to get one. I’m considering an M400 or M600 instead. Wish they still had the violet ones available….or the pink!
My goodness, that M300 is smaller than a TWSBI Mini. My only Pelikan (so far) is that M 400. I thought the M1000 might be way too big for me, but I’m fine with my Opus 88 Demo, so maybe not. The Opus has lately become my favorite sketching pen with DeA Document Urban Grey ink.
Wow, what a great deal. Congrats on the M1000. It's on my list. If I may ask how did you get that coupon for Endless Pens? You have quite the flock, but I find, this will be my last one, famous last words, especially in the pen world :)
For Endless Pens, you just need to open an account with them (provide email address and choose a password) and after that you will have access to their “hop drop” sales that come out most Fridays. They also have holiday sales that are pretty good. They’ve had quite a few deals on Pelikans.
@@MysteryArts Oh it was a "Hop Drop" That must have been a long time ago, because I don't remember 50% on Pelikan. I would have jumped on it had I known. Yes, Endless Pens does have some great sales. I was a bit disappointed in the Labor Day Sale, but hey, Thanksgiving, is coming up. When will they let me stop buying pens?? lol
@@ironmic9244 I’ve noticed that their deals aren’t as good as they used to be-but you can sometimes still find a really good deal from time to time (see my recent Sailor KOP video lol).
@@MysteryArts Yes, you are correct. A couple of Christmases ago they had a Montblanc 146, for $430. I knew then it was a mistake not to snatch it up. Never came back again. I saw the KOP video. I want that too, but I don't like that it's a c/c at that price. Right now there are lots of places with the Sailor 40% off sale. The Lamy 2000 is one pen they generally have good sale prices on. But yeah, the 4th wasn't that great, and I don't even know if they had a Memorial Day sale. They had a good one last year.
300$?? 😧 how do you find these deals? I am thinking of getting the red m600 but refuse to pay 325£ for it 😅 Give us your buying tips! Congratulations on the new pen btw!!
Wait for sales and look very often. This was also right before Pelikan raised their prices this year. I think that the timing was just right with Endless Pens on this one. However, Endless Pens is a "gray market" seller, which has some downsides if you look it up. Most notably, the manufacturer's warranty might not apply because they are not a recognized seller. I haven't had any problems with pens I've purchased from Endless Pens, but if I did, I would probably just factor in the repair cost into the initial price and consider it even. Endless Pens does offer its own warranty, but you have to make sure you register your purchase.
@@MysteryArts ohh ok! I’m waiting to see if Pelikans come under some deal in any of the websites I have a coupon code. I love the look of that red m600 tortoiseshell but that’s basically rent for me. Thank you so much for the tips!
@@thuntz29 I completely understand-I’ve been there. Fountain pens are a luxury, not a necessity. I think in my middle age I am rebelling against the restrictions I was under when I would get down to $2 in my bank account! Honestly, a $20 moonman with a $15 Goulet nib can sometimes be just as fun😊
I think it doesn't necessarily need special ink. The Birmingham pen inks can bleed in some pens, so it's not really the pen's fault. If you go with any consistent fountain pen ink, I doubt you'd have this problem.
Nice review! I paid around 470$ for that same pen in pre-order, regardless I think for the quality of this pen it was a good deal. Can’t wait to try it out! I wonder... how many months/weeks you had to wait from day of pre-order up until arrival/shipping? I pre-ordered mine from EndlessP. Like a week ago. 😁
Thanks! It was over 3 months before I got the pen. They have a 99 day shipping guarantee and that’s about how long it was from when I ordered it to when it shipped.
At 300 dollars, it's a steal. Congratulations on getting this beautiful instrument. 😊
I guess my question is, does it write normally without flexing? I do not use flex nibs and would not want a nib that flexes all the time unless I exert pressure.
Congratulations 🖋 you got an excellent price and love the color of the pen! Enjoy it. Have a great day
I LOVE your channel, one of my favorites. So many of my hobbies and interests are covered here :)
The m300 is so cute.
What a deal and a beautiful pen! I’m curious as to what your other grail pens are 😉

NO MORE i must do research
OH NO IT'S TRUE! =,(
I know its been a while but I just wanted to make a decision on the Pelikan´s pen, I will go for the M 1000 with a fine nib.. Thanks!!!!
It’s a great pen-enjoy!
Hi, in your list, starting from the m600 and all writing samples below are showing the same line width, while nibs are some F, some M. The line looks really M to me. That is so strange.
I have found that there is a lot of variation in Pelikan nibs. For the most part, they run more broad than their size.
Oh good to see that you found an ink that works better for the pen and doesn’t feather 🙂👍🏽
I would not recommend using that pen for flexing. It is not meant to give line variation, and with a fine there is not enough ink flow, thus the railroading.
I think it is present in 6:10 that the pen only skips when rolled towards the left.
I just received my M1000 and found it doesn’t hold a lot on ink and have to keep refilling after a half of page of notes. Is that typical?
That does not sound typical. You may want to google how to get a full fill on your piston fill pen and if that doesn’t work, you might want to reach out to Pelikan.
Can you link the pen case it's so cute I couldn't read the brand?
It’s this one from superior labor: www.baum-kuchen.net/collections/new-items/products/william-morris-roll-pen-case-blue

Pelikan offers nib exchanges within the first few weeks of purchase so that shouldn't be an issue.

I loooove Opus 88s. They are quickly becoming favorites (but then I say that about a lot of pens!).
Congratulations 😍 how many weeks did it take for them to acquire your pen?
Thanks! Their preorder policy gives them 99 days to ship out the pen from the date you order and that’s about how long it was.
Love the pen it's a good size but that yurashi is steller
That's my dream pen..!❤ One day im definitely go for that..😅
how could you get m100 at $ 300? it is a steal!!!😍
It was a deal I was not likely to get again, so I jumped on it. I did have to wait many months to actually receive it though.
