- With rationalism covered, let's investigate the other important movement in early modern philosophy, empiricism. In its earliest formulation, this included figures like Francis Bacon and Thomas Hobbes, and contrary to rationalism, which valued pure reason above all else, empiricism valued practical experiences and information derived from the bodily senses. Let's learn more about this movement now!

There's a saying I read or heard somewhere online ages ago that really emobides the philosophy (pun not intended) of Dave's tutorials: "Insult viewers'/readers' vocabulary, not their intelligence". You don't need big words to explain big ideas, except for proper nouns which need to be spread out enough.
😊
Empiricism is a vital milestone, Just sitting around thinking about stuff is not productive. Without a testing methodology you won't know if your assumptions are valid.
Hey Dave lee Cronin apparently accepted tours challenge. Can we expect a response from you about that?
Id love to hear your thoughts on Humes problem of induction and what it means for science
Would you be interested in my unsolicited opinion?
@@kingspud1983I would!
Very interesting facts about Bacon I didn't know this.
Mmmmm.... Bacon 😋
Thanks😆😆
was looking for that
Da Vinci was actually an outlier when it comes to combining science and art since that was not the norm as you seem to imply. It’s true that math plays a role for artists and some have written treatise on them, most famously Leon Battista Alberti. But nobody went as far as Leonardo by actually dissecting bodies to understand human anatomy or running thought experiments on how water flows. Artists in general were not a part of the scientific community. Leonardo tried to be accepted but science was more about theory than experiments at that time and most importantly he did not know Latin, though not from a lack of trying.
I’m not so sure you’re right about that. What about Filippo Brunelleschi? He seems to fall well in line with the hypothesis that art an science were indivisible back then.
in both political science and philosophy, i love me some Thomas Hobbes. Mr "I was the first to flee" and Mr "the secret to my longevity is singing in bed", i wish for this same sort of energy.
"...ratio now is but oratio, for the most part, wherein custom hath so great a power, that the mind suggesteth only the first word; the rest follow habitually..."
Appreciate these tutorials, thank you!
There is strong indications of
F.Bacon beeing a cowriter with
William Shakespeare.
Check out The documentary Breaking the Shakespeare codes.
It would be very interesting to hear
your opinion on the codes or if you just consider them as coinsidenses.
Just randomly commenting.. Has this guy addressed the current UFO/UAP state of affairs?
It's known , that Alhazen , he was the pioneer of the scientific method , he is called , first true scientist

Good morning😊
Looks like difficult language. By the way i can write in Arabic 😅
@@waelfadlallah8939 one of my regrets in life is not knowing multiple languages 😞 Not sure if you are into botany, but there is a local guy that has a Chanel: crime pays but botany doesn’t (he’s hilarious) he is from Chicago, so it’s kinda like another language 😂
