I understand wanting to help your friend, but that doesn’t entitle you to use the n word, even in the context of quoting someone else’s use of it. I understand that your privilege can make it hard for you to understand that any use of the n word by people outside of the black community can be harmful. This is no different from how you used it or that person attacking your friend used it. By educating yourself on your privilege, hopefully you will be able to emphasize more with my perspective.
