I used to have multiple screens for my work before I move back to my home country because I needed to have several windows opened so that, as you said, I don't have to waste my time switching the window while taking data to a spreadsheet, for example. One thing that ultrawide screen is better than normal screens is that you can have bigger windows, which is really helpful for someone who need remote accesses to her PC and software inside while working from home and need to have as large working space as possible. It is going to be really helpful, only if I can afford it though...
@@CyberMew, I saw long lists in some subreddit about it. Some games display static graphics, some display black bars, some show a proper 21:9 image, some reduce the field of view vertically in a way that makes the game unplayable.
Large monitors are great. I have a 32” but I also have a second monitor on the side. It’s great when when you’re sharing your main screen but want to hide what you’re doing on the other screen! (taking notes, looking things up, etc)
I bought an lg wide screen and have had it for about 4 years now, really expensive but worth it. When motto is, "when you go wide, the enemies cant hide"
Had an Ultrawide 34" curved monitor, and it was fun while it lasted! Came from a single 27" monitor much like yourself, so the extra screen real estate and simplistic aesthetic made it incredible. However, I have to do a lot of screensharing for my job and it looks distorted on Teams/Zoom. There's ways around it (showing app only, using a laptop/secondary monitor) but the headache for me was enough to switch to dual 27" setup.
Thanks for this comment. This really gave me pause because I have to share my screen a ton for work as well...looking to see if there are any legit work arounds?
Definitely agree with this. I had a 34” UW for a few months but switched to dual 27” 1440p monitors as well and haven’t looked back. I love screen sharing and only showing one screen and doing all of my alternative stuff on my other screen. In the future, if I ever get a bigger desk, I’d love to have a 34” UW horizontal and maybe a 27” vertical as a primary setup.
I'm currently on my second 21:9 display, still using the smaller old one in portrait orientation. Sadly, though, video streaming apps don't work right, still. I can watch a film that's 21:9 but it's small and centered on my display.
I've tried both and I like the flexibility of 1 ultrawide better because I can have an app span across the entire width seamlessly. But I think it depends on how you would use your monitor setup!
@@hellomayuko I have the 2 x LG27QN880-B 27” with the same stands that I bought a few months ago and am pretty happy with. I agree with you about use case. Very well done review of your LG UltraWide monitor Mayuko! Good job handling the washed color presentation. You have a very professional desktop workspace well designed absent clutter. Also works well for those moments of stepping away to stretch out in the sunny window with a furry friend. Especially nice inclusion of plant life to keep the mood grounded. Stay Happy! -Bob...
Nice review, thanks for sharing. Samsung G9 gang checking in. Absolutely love this thing. I've tried a few since and every time I go back to the G9 I appreciate it more and more.
If you think Ultrawide is good, you should totally try a super ultrawide. Anything that is 40 inches and above, it has all the plus sides of a normal ultrawide, but also comes with the advantage of having a built in KVM switch. Which in turns allows it to split into 2 actual separate monitors with out the eye sore of a bezel in between them, no multiple wires, and takes up less space because it only sits on one mount. What i use and recommend is the Lenovo Legion Y44W-10
That Lenovo is 3840 x 1200, as in two 24" 1920 x 1200 displays side by side, in a 32:10 aspect ratio with 92 DPI. What she's got there is 3440 x 1400, a 16:9 27" 2560 x 1440 stretched sideways to nominally 21:9 but actually 43:18 or 21.5:9. Her display is 109 DPI, just like a 49" 5120 x 1440 or a 38" 3840 x 1600 are also. Yours is about 26 cm or over 10 inches wider and I think that was a dealbreaker for her. She would gain little horizontal resolution but lose ⅙ of her vertical resolution.
I don't own this monitor, but another, the CRG9 by samsung. It's great to work on and has been so good for working with timeseries data. I also often have a number of different apps open at the same time, and this is so much better than the two 24 inch monitors I had before. Fewer cords, too.
It would be great if you could place all of the apps you're going to on-screen share on one side. It's more difficult to manage online presentations with the ultra-wides. Still love it though. BTW, excellent video and sweet desk.
Great video. Would be interested to know how window management works on a Mac. Is it easy for example to have 3 apps nicely arranged on the screen, or are you constantly dragging windows around? What is having an app full screen like? Did you use it much?
Wow, this review came at the right time. I was looking for an ultra-wide monitor for my new desk setup since one of my 27” decided to commit suicide one day while I was doing cleaning. My only dilemma now is… A curved and a standard flat? Seriously, I am torn here. Can anyone help? And the monitor can be used to charge the MacBook Pro? Did I get that correctly? I have never try that before, I did not expect the monitor to be able to charge the MacBook Pro. Mind-blowing. Thanks for making this video!
Yes, I can confirm that they can do that. As long as the monitor you get uses USB-C with power delivery which these LG ones do. They do come with a pretty hefty power brick.
Thank you mayuko, I was thinking buying second monitor as 2k 27inch or LG 34 inch monitor but different model. The thing is i also searching solution to my headset which is with wire and cannot use comfortly cause wire is short, so with this video (your hint)pieces of information came together and i plugged my mouse and headset to my monitor and can use it freely :). SO you saved me to buy usb hub :).
I’ve pondered getting a nice monitor for a while, but I’m at that place where a monitor upgrade would require a GPU upgrade, which would require a CPU/motherboard/RAM upgrade, and I’ll suddenly have spent like 3k 😬 This definitely makes a strong case for an ultra wide though. Until then, I’ll stick with my dirt cheap 1080p monitors and do anything requiring colour accuracy, or involving looking at text for more than 10 seconds on my MacBook Pro’s screen.
@@omerats96, by simply existing, no. Your GPU is made to handle it. Only exception is playing games at that resolution. But there's no way to actually damage your GPU with this display.
Does your monitor have this issue... You open a spreadsheet full screen and the monitor produces a high pitched buzzing sound? Similar thing happens with a full page of text, like a dense wikipedia article?
Enjoy the flat ultrawide while your eyes are still young, and able to easily change focus. The wider the flat monitor, the further back you have to be from the monitor, to easily see out to the sides. When you get older, like me, the eye loses its ability to easily change focus. The problem happens if/when you have to wear computer glasses, to be able to clearly see your monitor. The distance from your eye to the center of the monitor is closer than from your eye to the side of the monitor. My computer glasses is prescribed for a specific eye to monitor distance, and my eyes have a rather shallow "depth of field." So I end up leaning to the side, to see the side in focus. The leaning maintains the eye to monitor distance. And this is on a 28 inch monitor, not a WIDE screen, like a 40 inch. The solution for me is to get a curved monitor, that brings the sides closer to my focus distance. The other solution, as was said by others, is to use two smaller monitors, each at the focus distance of my computer glasses, 24 inches.
Hey thanks for the great review. But sadly if you're in Europe like me it seems that right now this monitor is nowhere to be found, only the non curved alternative (which after seeing this one is definitely a won't buy 😅) is currently proposed by EU retailers. I guess patience is required...
I made A LOT of researches & decided with triple monitors(dual also ok just not 1 wide). Big reason is you can watch full screen movie/youtube/netflix/twich/videos with one monitor and other monitor to do your work. You cannot watch fullscreen & do other stuffs with 1 wide monitor. Same if you are gaming, one full screen monitor for game & other work/discord. There are many merits & demerits for both but this one reason only enough to make me decided on dual/triple monitors rather than 1 ultrawide. Each to their own. Hope this helps anyone.
The question I have is, how do you physically arrange them? I have had different kinds of dual and triple monitor setups, but with two 27" QHD I was unable to find a comfortable left plus right or main plus side monitor combination so I took them back.
4K is absolutely necessary now at least for work because nowadays we work with multiple documents and at least one browser session these days. This applies to simple unskilled office work as well. Small local hospitals now use at least 2 monitors, 3 not being uncommon, as it is with jet fighters. Anything below full HD should be replaced and thrown away or the result will be losing work due to text dropout happening.
Hello, after using it a while, did you notice any issues with it? On the Amazon reviews, I found that users report issues with panels and/or USB-C port not working after a few months of use. Did you notice any of those issues?
I know this is 2 months late, but to fix your colour issue I’d try and adjust display/colour settings in the nvidia control panel or the AMD/radeon software, I have made night and day differences by just adjusting some settings
I’m thinking you’ve convinced me. It seems like all the latest Mac computers Air/Pro has support for only one external monitor. Now I have to decide whether to get an Air or Pro to replace my 2013 MBP. Thanks.
I would have gone with the 34" MSI PS341WU. The 5K 5120x2160 resolution is a nice PPI bump. LG has one with the 5k resolution but I did not think it warranted 500 bucks over the MSI one.
Wow I’ve had this monitor for a long time and didn’t even consider what the USB ports were for on the back. Insanely useful to know, wish I knew this yesterday.
Great video! This monitor looks amazing and literally covers all my needs, including KVM for peripherals, which would come in very handy since I use a personal and work laptop. Sadly, I'm not ready to spend that much on a monitor.
I recently got a new 27” monitor and a second portrait monitor but I honestly hate it. Luckily I’m still in the refund period so I’m getting an ultrawide for my work from home and gaming setup. It was nice hearing your experience from a graphic designer perspective!
Thank you for the review. I'm so undecided on what to get. Am considering the LG Ultrawide 5k monitor but do like that stand lol. Is it sold separately?
I've got an LG Ergo Curved 38" that's 3840 x 1600. So it's 2 x 1920 x 1600. Or 2 x 1920 x 1080 + 3840 x 520. Or 2 x 1920 x 1080 + 1920 x 1040 - so almost three FHD screens! Or 3 x 1280 x 2 x 800. The only downside to me? Hard to find 3840 x 1600 wallpapers... But I love it. For youtube viewing it's a 29" 16:9 in the centre. And for twitch, the extra space is for chat. Oh, and for now I have to connect the display over HDMI or DisplayPort. I also need to get a USB-A to USB-C convertor to attach the USB-C just for the hub. But for next PC: great! And I'm so happy that I could buy it with € 400 off somehow. Some crazy deal, The company had too much of them taking up too much space, I guess? But hey, I got lucky!

Please test these 3 resolution and 2 ratios in one monitor Which one should I pick for better downscale when my GPU can't handle games in the future? Is it looks bad or good? I'm torn, between choosing either a 34" Ultrawide or a dual 24" monitor setup. I do multi-tasks, programming/web development, and gaming on the side. Can anyone suggest or provide any insights? Thanks!
I have 2 24" monitors, and I'm going to change them most likely for this one. They are taking ridiculous amount of space. Do you really need one whole extra monitor for your work? Becaus I don't, honestly. It's too wide for me, and becomes uncomfortable after certain point. I do a lot of editing and graphics, and 1 24" monitor is not enough for that, and two 24" monitors doesn't look pleasant at all - always have to fight with frames and it's a bit disturbing.
@@kovmenius yeah im planning for that same setup that you currently have, dual 24" monitors but reading your opinion, i'm thinking if i might just as well stick to a single 32" monitor because of the space issue as well since i don't have a huge desk at home.
@@gbmrqzz0 Ye, 32" gives you better size in height, which is pretty much essential for affinity and DaVinci. I'm opting for 34" because it's still higher than 24", but have enough space to still have 2 windows when needed
I am going from a single 24 to a 32 inch 4K monitor. The 32 inch takes up less horizontal space on my desk than two 24 inch monitors side-by-side. And with 4K, I have almost the same horizontal resolution. Important, how FAR is the monitor from your eyes? The WIDER the FLAT monitor, the farther it should be from your eyes. The reason is side distortion. On a WIDE monitor at 24 inches, you will be looking at the side pixels at about 30-45 degrees, vs perpendicular in the center. Two 24s will let you adjust each so that you are looking perpendicular to each screenn, than a single WIDE monitor. The other is, you can select different 24 inch monitors, depending on your needs, so each of the two monitor can specialize. vs. a one size fits all of the single ultrawide monitor.
Right now I have an older LG 29” ultra-wide and a 27”. Looking to replace the 27” with a normal 32” as I really want more vertical space (hence stumbling upon your review). When I’m doing web dev I really need two monitors. On the 29” I usually have VS Code extended close to the entire width to accommodate the terminal window, editor and side bar open at same time. Then on the 27 I have the web app open along with the dev tools so that takes up a lot of horizontal space. As usual web dev makes things harder than it should be. But thanks for the review gave me something to think about. Btw what did you do with your old monitor? Hate to throw away a perfectly working monitor. Good will donation?
hmm faded colours? Did you try the different gamma settings? I had a monitor that didnt match my laptop AT ALL... untill I played around with the gamma preset and wow.... It now indistinguishable from my laptop
Isn’t it weird that it is a bit curved? ↩️ I wonder how is the experience when you develop frontend applications 😅 Are the pixels curved or weird looking ? 🥲
@mayuko I have a really deep desk, can you tell me how far forward the front of the screen can be when measured from the back edge of the desk where the stand is attached?
@@antonfernando8409 Even less! One cable from the monitor to laptop handles powering the laptop, display connection, and all the peripherals hooked up via USB to the monitor. Some monitors even have Ethernet jacks and that goes over the same single cable. Pretty handy!

One thing that ultrawide screen is better than normal screens is that you can have bigger windows, which is really helpful for someone who need remote accesses to her PC and software inside while working from home and need to have as large working space as possible. It is going to be really helpful, only if I can afford it though...
I currently own this one and it's gaming verison.
The ultrawide experience is amazing for the most part.
I read some games don’t support widescreen properly. Will this be an issue?
@@CyberMew, I saw long lists in some subreddit about it. Some games display static graphics, some display black bars, some show a proper 21:9 image, some reduce the field of view vertically in a way that makes the game unplayable.
They look sooooo aesthetic and I've always wondered whether I would like them. thanks for making this video!
2:30 "you can't focus on more than one app"
3:20 "so i can have multiple apps open at the same time"
you should be in the FBI grilling people in the interrogation room! 😂
My situation rn, have to switch resolutions to 16:9 before sharing
Thanks for this comment!
You could just reduce the screen resolution to a 16:9 ratio and set the monitor to display that at 1:1 scale with black borders
I'm software enginer student, I love this chanel 😁
pair it with a 27inch in portrait mode for your notes, web pages, terminal windows, word docs, etc that best viewed in portrait mode
I'm currently on my second 21:9 display, still using the smaller old one in portrait orientation. Sadly, though, video streaming apps don't work right, still. I can watch a film that's 21:9 but it's small and centered on my display.
That stand is everything! I'm still having a dilemma whether I should buy 2 monitors or just go with 1 huge ultrawide monitor
In my particular situation I need to have my MBP physically connected to one and then be extended to both. It during work hours be able to also have my windows laptop physically connected to the 2nd.
@@hellomayuko change title to "I finally tried bwc and I love it"
Nice review. I've been looking at ultra-wide monitors but I really don't know much about technology so this was helpful.
Been using ultrawide monitor 21:9 for a couple of weeks as well, and It has increased my productivity substantially.
Stay Happy! -Bob...
You know it's gonna be a good day, when there is a new Mayuko video in your inbox.
Nice review, thanks for sharing. Samsung G9 gang checking in. Absolutely love this thing. I've tried a few since and every time I go back to the G9 I appreciate it more and more.
I'm also using 34 inch Ultra-wide and I'm loving it. That HHKB is the best thing on that desk.
I have the same monitor. Love it. Working from home as a mechanic engineer.
I like that Eren Yaegar hairstyle, great video 🔥
That is a nice working environment indeed. Nice setup.
I don't own this monitor, but another, the CRG9 by samsung. It's great to work on and has been so good for working with timeseries data. I also often have a number of different apps open at the same time, and this is so much better than the two 24 inch monitors I had before. Fewer cords, too.
Thanks for sharing, I’m trying to decide between 34 and 49(crg9) but couldn’t make up my mind. Wondering if it would be too much to go for 49’.
You should try a 43" 4K monitor. It's like having 4 1920x1080 moniters in one.
I think natively it is a pain, but there are some pretty good apps that help you with window management (incl. shortcuts)
Check out an app called Rectangle

@@JLALALALA That would be great. Thank you very much, but I was wondering if a curved monitor would be better or a flat ultra wide. Tough choice here.
@@Heropahn personally I would go with the curved. It’s not that much of a curve but enough to feel the difference.
I just wanted to say that I love your videos :) the way you explain and think about your content is very pleasant 😄
I too ascended to a Samsung G9 this year and will never go back. Its been amazing.
I have a MacBook Pro 13in M1. Would a high-end monitor like the one in the video put a strain on my GPU?
I suddenly need this monitor.
I just got an ultrawide a couple of days ago and I love it as well! I can't go back
Hey thanks for the great review.
Insanely useful to know, wish I knew this yesterday.
wuow our keyboard is same !! nice to see HHKB there
Great video! Just purchased my first 34”
OMG love ur energy. I totally was all about more monitors the better. I'm thinking of getting an ultrawide myself.
Excellent review! And you are so pretty :)
Great video! This monitor looks amazing and literally covers all my needs, including KVM for peripherals, which would come in very handy since I use a personal and work laptop. Sadly, I'm not ready to spend that much on a monitor.
Close to 500k let's goooo🚀🚀
Unrelated but that green jacket is AMAZING!
Ohh I love your energy! Good/Positive energy, it's contagious.
Love the review too
So I'mma to subsribe.
got a lg ultrawidescreen my self and I just love it.
You are going to love more with Super Ultrawide 32:9 ^^. Love your video.

Hey - can you tell us a bit about your Keyboard. Looks interesting. Thanks
For Downscale (16:9) 4k to 1440p or 1080p will be better or Ultrawide (21:9) 1440p to (16:9) 1440p and Ultrawide (21:9) 1080p to (16:9) will be better? Please test these 3 resolution and 2 ratios in one monitor Which one should I pick for better downscale when my GPU can't handle games in the future? Is it looks bad or good? Can you please make a video of it? There is no video of it with a good explanation on youtube. Try different games both Ultrawide and 4k and downscale them from 4k to 1440p and 1080p and 21:9 Ultrawide, 1440p and 1080p (16:9 Ratio) I am really confused by these two monitors which one will be best for downscale when my GPU can't handle games in the future. I want the best in 3 worlds, 4k or Ultrawide, 1440p, and 1080p. And another one is curve feels uncomfortable since it's curved. Are games look weird, curve-looking, and stretched? I subscribed to your channel. Great content. Thank you. Hope you see this comment. Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
I've been using an LG ultrawide since March 2016, and I don't think I could go back. (first LG 34UC88-B and now LG 34GP83-A)
Use your macbook for proofing your videos, and also you can calibrate the monitor with a calibration tool.
Please share the size of your table it looks perfect 🤩
What kind of camera stand is that? Do you like it?
Brave ~ firefox
I like both
hmm faded colours? Did you try the different gamma settings?
I had a monitor that didnt match my laptop AT ALL... untill I played around with the gamma preset and wow.... It now indistinguishable from my laptop
Isn’t it weird that it is a bit curved? ↩️ I wonder how is the experience when you develop frontend applications 😅 Are the pixels curved or weird looking ? 🥲
The curve is very gentle on this one so nothing looks distorted on my screen.

Get the 40" Dell Ultrawide. It is a productivity monster!
@mayuko I have a really deep desk, can you tell me how far forward the front of the screen can be when measured from the back edge of the desk where the stand is attached?
I have once also been on this stage... and you will end with 40 inch wide. LG's 40WP95C or Dell U4021QW
You're right: built-in USB hubs on these new monitors are great!!
so basically 1 hdmi and 1 usb-c connection to the laptop from the monitor?
@@antonfernando8409 Even less! One cable from the monitor to laptop handles powering the laptop, display connection, and all the peripherals hooked up via USB to the monitor. Some monitors even have Ethernet jacks and that goes over the same single cable. Pretty handy!
@@MarkCerqueira awesome thanks.
@@MarkCerqueira Hi Mark! My peripherals can get power from the monitor's USB but they are not being recognized by the lap top itself - not being able to read usb memory, external hdd, nor to use the brio webcam. Is it because I am connecting monitor through the hdmi cable to the lap top?
