My daughter will turn 40 in July. I am 68… and my dad was a dresser and he invested in quality over quantity. He made sure we learned how to shop smart.
That's so great you learned your style lessons from your dad!
I just wore a sleeveless, white cotton dress and realized that I have had it for 20 years. I don't know what surprised me more--that I have had it this long, that it is still in style or that it still fits. You are right about classics!
Beth I so agree I buy quality clothes one at a time I may get Linen Slacks & have a silky shell top with a sweater to throw over the shoulders & always have a purse & shoes that blend well I have always admired women who look "classy" & on a tight budget I may have only have one go to outfit for summer & several for fall & winter, yrs. ago i realized classy was not at Walmart so I saved up & bought better materials, Thank you
One classic and classy outfit is all we need! Thanks for stopping by!
I just love the idea of a scarf at the waist for shorts and a tank! It is difficult to dress with style when it’s 95 degrees with 90% humidity!
Wow, thanks for sharing the wedding photo. Your mother was a knockout!
That blouse color is very flattering on you.
Yes, my mother was a beauty inside and out.
Less is more - I recently bought quite a few inexpensive things from an online site. They looked good and the prices were amazing. Long story short, I could not wear any of it and have donated everything. After recovering from my foolishness I purchase linen, white slacks, navy slacks and white blouse plus bright pink linen crops and blouse from Banana Republic at a great sale price. Quality pieces I will wear forever . Sometimes less is actually more.
I agree! Fewer quality items are the best additions to your wardrobe!
I work a hybrid schedule with work at home days and in-office days. I think I have my work wardrobe well in hand, but I’m starting to work on my work at home outfits to give my mood, and my productivity a boost. I’ve also started to level up what I wear for those quick trips to the grocery store or the pharmacy and other errands. I want to give off the vibe that I stopped at the store on my way back from a coffee date with a friend or a brunch date. I feel that if I don’t put more thought into what I wear when stepping out of the house, even if it’s just for a quick errand, that I might give off the impression that I don’t care or that I’ve given up and as a more mature women, that’s the last message that I want to convey to the world.
I appreciate your advice and I love your style. And a big hello to Oscar.
Love your attitude! It's so important to stay modern, fresh and relevant in every area of our lives!
Thanks Beth for the suggestions. With this weather, comfort is definitely key. But, I don’t want to look frumpy or sloppy!
And, boy, has it been hot! Have a great weekend!
Good luck with that!
another very helpful video to help us "older" women look great!
Glad it was helpful! Style is ageless and so are we!!
Yes 🙌🏼 the older I get (46) now the more I agree with this advice! Quality, comfortable, timeless pieces are my new look forswhen I shop! I have enjoyed your summer looks this year. I would love for you to do a part two with brands that you feel are good to look into for this. There are some I’ve never heard of that when I have clicked on your links like Reiss that I never knew existed. Not too low cost and not too expensive but good quality for the prices and fit true to size and are washable.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Hi Beth , another fabulous video all tips received with thanks you’ve definitely given me things to think about going forward in my quest to look my very best .
Eva from Scotland
You are so welcome! Have a great weekend!
Classy nice clothes. That dark green shirt and gold jewelry you were wearing were stylishly classy. LOve it.
Luv the dog in the video so cute ❤
Oscar is a hoot!
So love your channel! Quality and classy never goes out of style! ❤
Glad you enjoy it!
Fabulous as always, Beth!! Love your style! It's a lot like mine!! Have a lovely weekend!!
Thank you! You too!
Love the pup ❤❤
Oscar is the best!
Look this video! Great advice.
Glad you liked it!
Is there a color that you don't look good in? Cuz I've never seen it...
I love to color outside the lines! Thanks for watching!
Great tips. White pants scare me, I always seem to spill something on them.
Another excellent video. I appreciate all your suggestions. I do have a shoe question. I have, like many of us at a certain age feet problems. I can't wear slides or flip flops for more than a short period of time. Any suggestions for fashion forward footwear? Most of the time I have to wear orthotics with tennis shoes otherwise my feet sideline me and I can't do my favorite thing, exercise. If you could going forward show shoe options that are feet friendly?
Honestly, sneakers are the way to go. They have come a long way and are comfortable and fashion forward. But I'll check into this topic. Thanks for the suggestion.
Comfort is a high priority for me, but so is style and I can’t see these ever changing, they have always been the most important things to me for my wardrobe, along with only natural-fiber fabrics and materials. I agree, structure/tailoring is a gal’s best friend! I always wear at least one structured item, usually two per outfit. Tailored items are more sophisticated than all stretchy-knit athletic or loungewear, the universal uniform where I live, in gray or black. For one thing, I can’t stand those plastic, tight fabrics, hate gray and black and don’t like the athleisure look at all. The closest I ever get is wearing a silk jersey or cashmere hoodie, but with tailored bottoms and maybe a blazer. I really only wear those to look “casual enough” and modern, I don’t want to look out of touch. I would never wear those big, colorful, obviously fake fancy necklaces like the one in your thumbnail. I didn’t like them last time around and they look like cheap fake versions of what should only be worn to a state banquet.
Thanks for sharing!
The sound is not great on this video, little difficult to understand. Looks great though.
We will check into that.
My weight is not stable enough to pay hundreds of dollars for a single item of clothing.
Good point. You should shop according to your lifestyle and your budget, but there is a middle ground between a $400 article of clothing and a low cost piece of clothing that might not last 2 wash cycles.
You can go thrifting for quality basics when you are between sizes.
How stylish when you going to Caribbean ( very hot)?
And I don't like to carry a lot clothes.
