I am a retired, well paid Scientist/Consultant and in all my years, I have to say the most rewarding experiences of my life were the ten years I volunteered for the USCGAUX
To any one that is interested in volunteering, while you do have to purchase your own uniforms, there is no time frame that you have to get them. at the minimum get one set of trops and one set of ODUs.
Go to website "cgaux.org", look for "I want to join the Auxiliary". enter your ZIP code and it will come up with the 5 nearest Flotillas. And, if you attend a meeting and don't care for that Flotilla, try a different one.
come on I'm a veteran that's so stupid if I'm going to volunteer my time and the coast guard auxiliary cant even supply my equipment and uniform kick rocks coast guard auxiliary lolooooo stop being so cheap if prople are going to go volunteer there time and effort the lease the coast guard auxiliary can do is provide the equipment and uniforms that stuff is not cheap
our flotilla has some spare uniform parts to help keep costs down. any leftover insignias are kept for members who need them. we have HUGE box of uniform parts to save you money.
Very good!!!
Thanks!!!💐💐💐💐

What I've seen it seems like an 60 and older organization.
It might appear that way but in general, not at all true for most Flotillas.

Your overthinking this bud. They provide a lot more than you think. Your there for the experience and exchange of service.
