Very cool! I've had my Gen 5 rheem HPWH for a few years now working flawlessly, other than replacing a thermister. The top connections and the duct connections will help so much during installation. With the energy savings, i've surpassed the cost of the water heater and still going compared to my old electric water heater. I almost want to upgrade to the new model, as db sound rating seems to be much lower than my current model. 😅
The easiest way to spot is the grille of the air outlet. The new gen models have a different design pattern and there are 4 mounting points for connecting duct directly.

How can you tell if it’s the new model?
