ISL was actually a product of Ambanis who thought the IPL model can be used in football. I’m a blasters fan but I have to admit as a person who lives in the UK and seen football structure outside India it actually makes sense why ISL lost its spark.

i hope in the coming years, ISL get more attention and become more popular than IPL. Im talking 10 years later cuz i know it takes time. i hope that the teams in ISL also increses in the coming years (like 20). And hope we get more of those amazing derby matches and tough competitions

@@heartfulbreeze6801 hopefully yes, but the problem I found is in the grassroots level in India. The way which young people are introduced to the game. In Europe a child kicks the ball almost when he is like 3 or 4, parents encourage it. Football becomes that child’s main way of spending spare time. In India a child doesn’t have a spare time. Children stay to play amateur level 9 aside and 11 aside at very age. They are coached and trained according to there age level. All clubs who are semi pro and above have a youth system where they develop players through there system. In India it’s like we are only doing it to catch up rather than the betterment of the sport.

I want that... but that process is actually a slow process... it takes more than 20 years... a lot of money been put into grassroots and youth facilities... and above all... Game importance must go up... India is still a cricket loving nation... that needs to be changed.

Quite a conundrum. The straight jacket approach of IPL can't be applied to ISL because Ranji trophy and various other domestic leagues were already in good places and providing top notch players to the Indian national team. In this case IPL became just another tournament, for one new format of Cricket.
Comparing same with ISL is like chalk and cheese.
I hope what happened with West Indies cricket doesn't happen with newly found Indian football.

ISL removed indian football from its shell. And Indian football since have grown alot in India since the start of the isl
