Lonely Day is still one of my favorites due to Daron taking lead vocals. All of their albums are on shuffle/repeat on spotify though.
Dick Wolf I love it, too. ❤️Very relatable, moving, & emotional ... it’s also at least a little haunting, especially when you watch the video’s visuals.
Daron has a great voice!! His harmonies with Serj are fantastic. Love all of the guitar in it, but his solo ~ just *beautiful!*

Interesting Trivia: The song was originally titled Suicided, but the label made them change it to something that would be more radio friendly. They chose Chop Suey as a play on words... Suey-cide.

I saw these guys at Ozzfest before I knew who they were. I was impressed. I can't remember the year. It was at the place outside Marysville near Sacramento that changes it's name anout as often as a teen girl changes outfits.
it was during the time i believe sharon had cancer so ozzie left the tour to stay by their side and s.o.a.d. filled in.. dragon force was there that year, disturbed... I remember being confused at first but they KILLED it sounded just like the album had the crowd going, one of my favorite rock shows and live performances of all time... next to slipknot live at rock on the range... (This was in michigan by the way.. rock on the range in ohio).. Rock on dude~~
If you weren't in Cali , I would have said Noblesville , In. their name has changed 4 times in 10 years. Anyway , I saw the same show in Indiana. My kid was 10 at the time and loved them.
It's very near Marysville ca. At times it is called Sacramento something but is literally about 40 minutes from Sacramento
This album was my first introduction to SOAD and every song on it was brilliant. Pls check out the other singles "TOXCITY" and "ARIELS"

My first listening to SOAD was Sugar when I was still stationed in UT when I was in the USAF. And I still listen to them here and there when I'm in head banging mood or kick butt frame of mind.
Yeah, I would describe this song as eclectic. System of a Down, or SOAD, as they are often referred to, were, I believe, the first Armenian-American rock/metal band to make it big. You hear the
Armenian influence in some of the acoustic guitar played in the song. Now, I think the best part of the song is the harmony vocals at the end, and they can duplicate that live because the guitarist can sing so well.
Now, as far as Slipknot, Kel, you might like Snuff. If you do you might check out Stone Sour. They are a side project of Lead Vocalist Corey Taylor. Such songs as Bother, Through Glass and Hesitate are great ballads.
Not many "newer" metal interests me, but SOtD, Tool, Godsmack is great.
Back when box sets for King Crimson and the like were being done in the 90's they liked to include the family trees. Fun to look at.

I really like how they sing off key. At least it seems to me to be off. But that's what makes it cool and unique. Alice in Chains does those Awesome weird harmonies that is what takes it to a level that makes them in my top 5.
Amor odio Amor they sing in tune, they are eastern harmonies not commonly heard by the general public.
If we analyze the Title "Chop suey" if we know the dish itself, it is a mixture of vegetables, meat, seafood especially squid and shrimp and species, and sometimes fishball is put in there and cornstarch as stew thickener. The song's transition in melodies and the lyrics are all mixed up.

#NothingMore - Jenny. A really deep song with some awesome vocal work. A little research beforehand regarding the topic/lyrical content may not be the worst idea. I can definitely dance to Chop Suey, although I don't think I have. By the time, SOAD came around I was going to solely goth bars.
My favorite song by SOAD, but not my first, which was Prison Song, way back in 2002.
You know whats comin #crimsonglory#paintedskies. Crimson is alot like queenryche in style but not nearly as commercial and I think a better band. Their singer passed away not too long ago rest in peace Midnight you are missed.

Oh my gosh you guys. I am so sorry that somebody tricked you into being subjected to that. I mean I’m sure there is worse “heavy-metal“ out there. I just can’t think of any right now worse than System of a Down.
It is amazing to me how time change music bc I don't think this song has aged very well.
When this came out it was my favorite song on radio and now to me it is rather a dud. The rest of the Toxicity record is so much better. I remember having my friends in my car blasting SCIENCE and it was like a straight up Wayne's World scene with everyone head banging.
Some music just does not translate even 5 years later. I think most of this album is very good but Chop Suey is just dumb now.
