Falcon 3.3 Shock Install & Review

  • Whats up everyone!!! It was finally time to do a much needed shock upgrade on my Jeep Wrangler JK.
I decided to get the Teraflex Falcon 3.3 Piggyback Shocks.
    Teraflex Falcon 3.3 Shocks: 5-6" lift (12.3" travel) amzn.to/35KubT2
    3-4" lift: amzn.to/2MOJVf8
    Weld on skids: amzn.to/31lB1ek
    Bolt on skids: amzn.to/32rbfXc
*Make sure to order for a 4 Door JKU or a 2 Door JK*
I have heard great things about these shocks, and so far i am extremely happy.
There are alot of shocks to choose from, and in the past i have used standard monotube shocks. Budget shocks work decent, and provide extra travel opposed to factory shocks, but the ride can be unpredictable depending on the jeeps weight, and alot is dependent on the shocks valving.
I wanted a long travel shock for offroading, a long travel will provide more flex which helps when rock crawling, and is also very beneficial during high speed offroading.
I also wanted a shock that was adjustable, allowing for different ride characteristics of my choosing.
I decided on the Falcons, they have a good warranty, appear to be very well built, and overall ride great. For the amount of features they offer, they are also priced well.
Now, it is very important to consider spring options when choosing a shock.. I am running the Rock Kralwer triple rate springs and they seem to work well together. However i am sure that running springs from Teraflex would offer the best ride and handling since the shocks are valved with their spring rates.
The install of the shocks is very straight forward, but does require modifying your inner fenders. I have a set of inner fenders from Hyline Offroad that are designed to work with the piggyback shocks, JCR and other vendors also make compatible inner fenders.
I added the optional weld on skid plates since i like to take my Jeep in some rough offroad situations. Teraflex offers a bolt on skid as well, however i like the idea of the weld on design.
Overall, im happy with the shocks so far, and they have really changed how the Jeep rides. Id recommend them to anyone, daily driver, overlander, or the rock crawling minded Jeeper.
I will continue to test the shocks on my cross country drive, as well as test them offroad during the trail to sema event!!!
Thanks for watching! And as always, please leave a thumbs up and a comment!
    -Ben

Amazing shocks! Just put them on Monday and the improvement in the ride was noticeable the second I pulled out of the driveway. The Teraflex Nexus 2.2 adjustable steering stabilizer is the perfect compliment to the shocks. Couldn't be happier with the set up. Thanks for the great video on these awesome shocks!

Once my teraflex 9550's go out I definitely want the Falcon shocks with the Antirock swaybars too so your videos are hitting close to home on this one :) Great content. Very informative and entertaining! Question: so for firmness settings, would you firm them up when going off road or looser for ride quality/travel?

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus 2 роки тому

depends how fast you want to go, if you like to go fast, the firmer setting will help most against bottoming out and maintaining control. If you like to go slow, firm settings may feel too harsh, so you can go with the softer setting(s) that use more travel
