I just purchased my first Cat skid steer, a 299d. I watched your video and it saved me a lot of time and money doing it myself. Great video.

I think your going to be impressed with your new rig. I'm on my third Cat 299d the oldest with about 6,700 hours and newest about 94. Take good care of your rig and it should last for a while. I'm glad the video was helpful. For me, it's always easier to learn visually or hands on rather from a manual. Thanks for the feedback!!!

Should only take 1.5 quarts for both final drives .. the center bolt is the fill line..

hey as a cat mechanic never ever fill it to the top it should only be filled to the half way point that's what the middle bolt is for.... filling it up to the top will cause extensive final drive wear.

Thanks for the input!! Greatly appreciated! While I have you here, understanding that wear & tear various with each machine, based on your experience, what is the average # of hours a final drive might begin to exhibit problems or need to be replaced?

As far as the paper side of the business. What licenses or permits do you need (if any) to do strictly brush cutting/forestry mulching?

None are needed to operate the skid steer & mulcher. Having a CDL might be required in your state. Should be insured and bonded!!!

@@mrmulcherman5061 Thank you for the information. It’s much appreciated. One more quick question 😬 I’d like to get contracts on hand before purchasing equipment. Is that a good idea? How would you go about that in your own expertise?
