"Ea ea" are the words mothers say to their babies when they want the baby to stop crying and to fall asleep. Like: ea ea ea ea... The song is a lullaby. Blanca Paloma made this song after her grandma Carmen passed away. The song is like the voice of Carmen singing to comfort Blanca. The lyrics says: when I die, bury me in the Moon, so I can see you everynight, everynight except one". Blanca sings this while looking at the sky (to Carmen), and the white round on the floor is the moon. The song talks to a crying baby, but the song is about Blanca talking with the spirit of her grandma. About the stage, the red curtains represent Carmen's shawl, which had red fringes. Blanca described the stage as a "safe place, my grandma's shawl protecting me". Blanca was a professional set/stage designer before her debut as a singer, so it makes sense that the stage, lighting, and camera angles are on point all the time.
PS: the "archer" pose is a signature pose from Blanca as an artist, she does this at least once in each performance. Last year she participated on Benidorm Fest with "Secreto de agua" and she starts to performance with this same pose.

That zenith angle where you can see the white circle symbolizing the moon that is transformed into an eye, the eye that watches the child from the moon. This moment is perfectly accompanied by the lyrics of the song, it is what he is singing. It is magical, elegant, artistic, modern and impressive.

the lyrics in this part are:
      My child, when I die
      Bury me in the moon
And every night I see you
And every night I see you
And every night I see you

Great reaction, nice to see people who invest time in get to know the story behind a song, thank you. I spent quite some time asking to myself the same question: the meaning of that night. And I think (just my thought) it's the New Moon, the night with no moon.

The one night she won't see her grandchild from the moon is new moon, when it's not visible. Ea ea is the sound adults make when we're trying to calm a child while we rocking it. It's included in many lullabies. The red curtains are a reference to the Manila shawl embroidered with fringe, which her grandmother used to wear and evoques in Blanca a feeling of protection, somehow as a shelter.
Finally, the gesture of an archer is a personal gesture of Blanca, who has included it in other songs as a trademark and, maybe, empowerment.

Blanca showing her abilities not just singing but also designing herself staging and each element which represent the meaning of the líric song. Its about grief of a mother which knows her days on Earth are close to end. And if its so, the only wish she desire is to be close of her loving child. For that, she longing for beeing bury in the Moon so every night could watch her little child,(on performance you see that moment, when you see her inside that white circle, which is symbolism of the Moon) keep loving and caring It, in spite of lost of her presence on Earth, and let him know with lullaby song meanwhile she conforts him to call him down (EaEa) performance has a lot of elements interesting together to a outstanding voice. So summing Up if this year Blanca dont get at least fith position same Serbia last year, It would be really sad and dissapointed nor for her unless for having appretiate like Servía if we are force to compare with this entry of Spain or Ucrain which brought some etnic Style and won last year. So I trust futher if you like the song to play It in your playlist device or not, the quality of pure Art Flamenco ( world heritage site) combined with modern Style.

Thanks a lot for your sincere analysis. The song is kinda lullaby sung to a grandchild. The fringers embrace the singer like her grandma embrace Blanca when the grandma Carmen sung songs to her, paying tribute to theirs ancestors. The fringers are a representation of the shawl her grandma used to wear when she sung before sleeping. Blanca Paloma is the set designer of the staging as well and wants to be a tribute to all grandmothers. I hope the uniqueness and the cultural elements of the song can be understood in Europe or at least appreciate the inmense singer she is. It was the riskier option of the bunch but risk sometimes has its prize. I am optimistic and I can imagine a top 5. If it flops, it doesn't care because we will proud of our entry anyway. Finally my first interpretation of "all nights except one" means that she is now in the moon caressing and ensuring her grandchild everyday except the fatal day that the death brings the child to the moon with her and all the family ancestors, but It was only my point of view. Afterwards I have read that it is refers to the night when the moon is in the new moon phase, and it's invisible. I think this is the proper meaning. Anyway kudos for you and keep doing that well.

Just to add the littlest insight, "ya, eaea" could probably be translated to english as "hush, now", as it's what you'd say to a little child to try and make them stop crying and fall asleep. I'm so glad you enjoyed the song and the performance! As a spaniard I'm really hoping we'll get another great result and maybe even win, but even if we don't even make top 10, I'll still be very proud of this choice. Blanca Paloma's song is a play, a performance made to be represented and with the staging it makes sense, using Spanish (Lorca) but also universal symbolic references. It is an invocation, a call, a song to what makes us feel safe and strong at the same time, which makes us enter a hypnotic trance.
She relates it to her grandmother, to that maternal thing that takes care of us and protects us. The red strings that hang down and that she already explained reminded her of her grandmother's shawl, form a circle that is like a maternal womb that gives us light and nourishes us. She goes through that uterus that is fertilized (this is how I understand those hands that surround her and hold her for a few seconds). Then the miracle of life is done.
The moon is the symbol of the feminine, which engenders, nourishes and makes it grow. It is present every night except when it goes out on a new moon. During the performance, the sound “ea, ea” is repeated loudly and rhythmically, which is the lullaby that mothers sing to children when they are afraid, when they cry, to reassure them and give them strength. Nothing bad is going to happen... The dancers also imitate the movement of the arms that they cradle spasmodically. It looks like a sway of waves... Because the sea also lulls and transforms with the phases of the moon and is the quintessential feminine element. The base that sounds below the telluric song and the allusions to the heartbeat complete the visual and sound elements of the set.
This song is a song to celebrate life and a work of art. Win or not, it will not leave anyone indifferent and it will be difficult to forget.

It means the grandchild will be able to see his grandmother when he looks up to the moon every night except when there is new moon when you can’t see the moon so therefore the child would not be able to see her nor find her when he looks up the sky because no moonlight to track her, it’s poetic somehow. The grandmother wishes to be buried in the moon for that reason in exchange her grandson would not ever feel lonely in the future because he would be able to see her and feel her presence every night except just one night every moon cycle. Then “eaea” is what some mothers say (specially culturally in the south region) to their babies when they cry to calm them down, that’s why the dancers make the arms movement like if they were cradling a baby when they sing “eaea” and like if it was a moon ritual summoning ancestors.

Some of the symbolism in Blanca Paloma’s performance of EaEa is inspired by the poems of Garcia Lorca.
Lorca’s poem “Romance de la luna, luna” often is difficult to interpret because of its surrealist mystery and deeper symbolism. Some scholars have said that this poem can only be understood if you realise that the speaker in Lorca’s poem is already dead.
This poem, the “Ballad of the moon, moon”, is one of three lyrical poems exploring mythical feminine forces-this one the moon a symbol of death and depicts the short beauty of love as intricately connected to death.
Repetitions seem to be incantatory-luna, niño-evoking the dreaminess of a trance or a lullaby.

Ya ea ea ya ea ea
Ya ea ea ya ea ea
    Teardrops from the Nile
    Wakeful nights
    My son, when I die,
may they bury me in the moon.
And I hope to watch over you every night
And I hope to watch over you every night
And I hope to watch over you every night-
    on every night except one
    Hey, come, my child.
    Hey, come, my child-
the scion of all my love
    May your sunny eyes-
    illuminate me at night.
Ya ea ea ya ea ea
Ya ea ea ya ea ea
Ya ea ea ya ea ea
    Teardrops from the Nile
    Wakeful nights
    My son, when I die-
may they bury me in the moon.
And I hope to watch over you every night
And I hope to watch over you every night
And I hope to watch over you every night-
Let us go beyond, Blanca Paloma.
    My son, when I die,
may they bury me in the moon.
And I hope to watch over you every night
And I hope to watch over you every night
And I hope to watch over you every night-
    every night except one
Ya ea ea ya ea ea
Ya ea ea ya ea ea
Ya ea ea ya ea ea
    Teardrops from the Nile
    Wakeful nights
Ya ea ea ya ea ea
Ya ea ea ya ea ea

Hi, thanks for the video. I hope I can make you understand the song and the choreography a bit more. Eaea is what we say in Spain to babies when we want them to stop crying, that's why the girls do those movements with their arms as if they are holding a child. The song is about maternity and pain, ,but also about the mystery of death, it is a ritual by which they invoke a woman's spirit, a grandmother. There is a lot of symbols, the moon on the floor, the stage is an uterus... she says she wants to be buried in the moon when she dies so that she can see her child every night. A crying baby is present and she is trying to comfort her child and the pain with her eaea.

    English Lyrics: EaEa
Ay come to me, my child
Ay come to me, my child
    sleep next to me
That in my chest there is shelter
    Little coat for your sorrows
    (chorus)
YA EA EA EA EA EA
YA EA EA EA EA EA
    Tears of the Nile
    Sleepless nights
    My child when I die
    bury me in the moon
And every night I see you
And every night I see you
And every night I see you
    every night except one
Ay come to me, my child
(ay my child, my little one)
    Little of my loves
That the night lights me up
    your eyes are sun
YA EA EA EA EA EA
YA EA EA EA EA EA
    Tears of the Nile
    Sleepless nights
    My child when I die
    bury me in the moon
And every night I see you
And every night I see you
And every night I see you
(Let's go there the Blanca Paloma)
    My child when I die
    bury me in the moon
And every night I see you
And every night I see you
And every night I see you
    every night except one

Love your level of thought and interest in your reaction. I think you will have to give your 12 points to Spain, judging by your reaction!
IMO there are far too many songs on the radio that sound the same. I want Eurovision to show me more artsy, cultural, folkie vibes, that capture any of the multiple essences in each country in an innovative and unique way to enrich me.
I think Spanish know this is a risky proposal. But to be honest, most of us, we do not care. We'd rather have someone so brilliant representing us with a masterpiece, even if it gets lost in translation, than sending yet another commercial act. Spanish are proud of their choice. Paloma delivers at all levels. And if people cannot connect or understand, that is OK. The more "different" music people are exposed to, the more they will learn to appreciate it.
Paloma is not just a sublime singer (reminds me so much of Dulce Pontes!). She is a proper artist involved in the whole process, including staging, costumes, etc.
Last year Tanxugueiras and Paloma were my favourites because I thought they had the best songs, voices, the folkie vibes, the symbolism and so fresh and new age at the same time. None of them made it through, so I am glad that Paloma came back.
I love that this year Paloma has chosen to honour grandmothers and the role they play in bringing up children in Spain. Same way that last year I loved that Tanxugueiras honoured women ancestors who lived hard times and in spite of not being school educated, they kept cultures alive. I just wish one day Paloma and Tanxugueiras do something amazing together! Quick videos to the amazing Dulce Pontes and Tanxugueiras for those who have not had the pleasure or listening to them!

In a way she's saying that even if you feel the loneliness, and she will be not there, she will appear the next day

Thanks for the video, you have the cutest way of expressing yourself.
An advice as a viewer: the best thing you can offer your viewers at a very first reaction is, in fact, your pure reaction, not your instant analysis.
Analysis shouldn't be an interruption. You can't read a poem while instantly expressing your feelings and opinions, since to do that you need to stop reading it. It's the same here. The moment you talk about it, you stop reacting to the actual peformance and you stop your own reaction to it, and so we feel it as an interruption.
I don't mean that silence is the only way. But there's a difference between reacting (with or without words) and analysing. Reacting let us viewers flow with you and the performance, and analysing requieres viewers attention and outplaces the experience.

My theory is that the night to which she refers is perhaps the night the child dies as an adult, since from that night she will not have to see him anymore because they will be together for eternity. although of course, it's just a theory hehehehe, but it doesn't sound crazy.

Creciente, llena, menguante y nueva, la luna nueva se representa oscura en los calendarios porque no está iluminada por el sol, y deja de ser visible. Eso pasa cada mes lunar, que duran unos 28 días.
