Akane consistently uses double kicks in the most innovative and tasteful manner of any drummer I have ever seen. I was impressed by all the musicians as I first came across these ladies and was floored by Kanami's solos and Misa's bass lines but it was the drumming that made me first pause and go back to listen again. I like a number of drummers for different things but Akane's style has really drawn me in. I can't think of any other band where I go into a new song with so much anticipation of what the drummer is going to do.
The same for me. When I first heard them in 2018 (of course it was THRILL 😂) it was Akane's saving grace which saved me from abandoning them as "just another Japanese band".
The official Studio MV doesn't get the love it deserves. It's about Miku's plan for World Domination. The live version is a hoot and exudes energy. BandMaid is a live band! The crowd is pretty jacked up!
Introducing Miku Kobato, founder of BAND-MAID She dropped out of university after one year in Kumamoto, a regional city in Japan, and came to Tokyo to become a singer. She formed BAND-MAID in her third year while working at a maid cafe. She intended for herself to be the lead singer, but she thought the band needed a stronger singer, and she soon included Saiki as a member and began playing side guitar for the first time. She is also a lyricist who writes almost all the lyrics. In BAND-MAID's new stage costume, she is the only one in a cute maid outfit, and has become the image symbol of BAND-MAID. Although it may not be your cup of tea, you may also want to listen to her personal project Cluppo Peace & Love or With you. Additionally, she once placed 2nd at the All Japan Poker Championship. She seemed very disappointed.
My favourites by @cluppo are FuwaFuwa and Super Star. FuwaFuwa (obviously an allusion to K-ON anime) has a very interesting rhythm start, and in Superstar, Miku's guitar solo is very tasty. Also, the lyrics in Superstar are her own life story and thoughts about the proper way to live the life. I honestly think Miku Kobato (or, cluppo in this case) is one of the deepest philosophers of our time.
@@VladimirChupin Well put Vladimir. This also means I have (had to) watched K-On! (more times than I care to mention)....So much so. I brought the Boxset when in Japan...and some of the manga (even though it's in Japanese and I can't read Japanese..haha).
I love the scene in the music video with the members sitting around the table playing (presumably) poker. Miku, founder of the band, is a seriously good poker player -- among the best amateur poker players in Japan. This same Miku plans to dominate the world ... but in the nicest possible way, with music, love and peace. And pigeons.
Welcome to the world of Band Maid !!!!! It's so nice to hear intelligent comments and someone who can bring their expertise to share with us. Wait tell you hear PLAY Live and Real Existence live. Having seen our girls in person....I feel that these two tracks are their best performances and give you the feel of what it's like to see them live !!!!!
I’d suggest the latest live video that they just dropped, but I’m not sure if you’re ready for it yet. Glad you’re enjoying them. No limits to their ability.
Band-Maid is like having kids. You are never ready, they may leave you exhausted, but to love em and they always make you smile, laugh, cry...all that emo stuff.
Hell yes! I'm just an old fart, but I will be ever grateful to my great grand kids for introducing me to Band Maid. Good music did not die in the USA, it just moved overseas.
Over enthusiastic fans getting up reactor's asses for listening to the "wrong" version of Band Maid songs is one of my big frustrations with the fanbase. The MV version of Domination is fun and fine. Then you can recommend the live version. Band Maid is great live, but Band Maid makes cool MVs too. Blooming, Warning, Unleash etc are COOL videos and also deserve to be seen.
This band is so bad ass i ended up seeing them 30 times in a year....crazy i know. every show is amazing. I imagine my face looked like yours the first time is heard them...wtf amazing
After all these years, Domination MV is still my favorite Band Maid song even over the live version because I can hear the guitars. The guitar sounds above everything else made me love this song. Hibana came close to taking over the top spot for me.
I love that you appreciate the Official MV and all the different aspects of it, like the mix and the visuals. You really are a techie, and I love hearing from them techies! As you can see, even the production for the Official Live version is nothing to sneeze at. Yeah, you're right, it's live so it's not the same quality, but I still think it's great. Thank you for checking out both!
About to start day 2 of my Tokyo exploration. Last night we had reservations for "at home cafe". Its the maid cafe that Miku was working at when she came up with this brilliant idea. And i also got a notification after i landed that I was selected in the ticket lottery for the "The Day of Maid" show in May. Guess Im coming back 😆
Welcome, GINX. You are embarking on (along with many others - over 190 million YT views plus over 40 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:
BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (130+ songs), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular! Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 70 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: ua-cam.com/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/v-deo.html Their songs from albums Unleash, Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Shambles, Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Don’t You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, About Us, Memorable, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or progressive like No God, Giovanni, and Black Hole… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like From Now On, Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis and Sayonakidori... and last but not least, their Anime hits (AniMaid) like Sense, Glory and Unleash!!!!! (from their own Anime MV (series?)): ua-cam.com/video/7LB_EPS48HE/v-deo.html) And many songs are represented with over 50 well produced music videos. ua-cam.com/users/BANDMAID Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYU-JI concerts: ONLINE OKYU-JI (Feb. 11, 2021) “No God” ua-cam.com/video/nAdWnIRjGak/v-deo.html Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA (February 14, 2020) “Domination” ua-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/v-deo.html ZEPP 2018 “Real Existence” ua-cam.com/video/-qQnKILR5u0/v-deo.html Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and other full concerts are on bandmaidprime.tokyo, bili, and official Band-Maid’s DVD/BD/CD. “P and D⁴” Photo Collage videos at www.youtube.com/@PinDakaPanic810 And some of the better quality fan videos are excellent. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. At 30 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen! Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 32 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!! Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 32 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 33 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 31 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA! Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans. [BAND-MAID NEWS] BAND-MAID PRIME - Special Video Distribution Website. Along with nearly 50 great play-through’s by each member, concerts and skits, Band-Maid management / label(s) have included the Acoustic Christmas 2021, ZEPP 2018 and Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 concerts! Fans can now see more than 50 great live performances with awesome audio, etc. like Fate, I Can't Live Without You and the great MISA / Kanami exchange in Don't You Tell Me. And so many great live fancams to watch! Their playing and antics were as fresh and fun to experience from first show to last. BRAVO Band-Maid!!!!! In addition, their Japan tour finished up with 13 concerts, AND they’re writing and recording for their new album. Their 10th Anniversary Tour concluded at Japan’s 17,000 seat Yokohama Arena on Nov. 26, 2023 and in Hong Kong Dec. 21! And their latest 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR SPIN OFF concert at KT ZEPP YOKOHAMA on February 22, 2024, where they played songs not performed at the 10th anniversary tour final at Yokohama Arena, was SOLD OUT! The Maids are one of the hardest working super groups in the business! Their music, their sound, each of the Maids, and the love that permeates their live events is an experience not to be missed. Hope you can catch them LIVE!
Even though (as you have discovered) there is a distinct bias in the fanbase toward live recordings, their studio recordings are brilliant. I like both, and I like your idea of listening to both and comparing them. I see an album recording as a different thing from live performance. They are similar but an album is like a movie where everything is carefully recorded and edited into place; and once it is finished it stays the same forever. It is fixed and static. Think of a movie compared to a stage play where the set is limited and the performance is continuous with no chance to correct errors. The play is unique each time it is performed: The audience is different, the flubbed lines or misplaced props are different, and the performance only exists for that one moment in time. After the curtain comes down the performance is gone, and only exists in the memory of those who were there. So an album has the best take of the guitar solo, the bass tone is crafted, the drums are tuned for the specific song or room, and everything is edited and equalized and balanced, and perfect. The live performance has whatever bass tone can be had with the equipment they took along, the guitar solo might have a deadened note, or the vocals might skip a word. But it's okay because that night's performance is special for that night. After the lights come up it's gone and only exists in the memory of the people who were there. And the UA-cam video of it, LOL. But you get my drift, I hope. Now, they have just released three recordings from the 10th Anniversary Tour Finale last November 26th, 2023. Two of them have music videos. The first of them is the opening track from their 2017 album "Just Bring It" called *"Don't you tell ME"* and the other is from to 2022 EP "Unleash" called *"Unleash!!!!!"* Both videos are a lot of fun and have all sorts of Easter Eggs that everyone will love to tell you about. Last year's performances were really top notch, too. The third one doesn't have a music video but does have a recording on UA-cam. On the BAND-MAID UA-cam channel, under the "Releases" tab, is a playlist for each of their albums, EPs, and singles. Track 8 in the "Unleash" playlist is called *"Hate?"* and they've just released the live version from the November 26th finale. It is beyond good. The fanbase will tell you their lyrics are usually upbeat and positive. Saiki wrote the lyrics for "Hate?" and she's positive she hates you. So after those three, here's another three. They started the 10th Anniversary Tour with an okyuji at the Tokyo Garden Theater January 9th, 2023. They released three live videos from that concert as well and one of them has a music video. The oldest is track 2 from "Just Bring It" called *"Puzzle"* and it does not have a video, select it from the "Just Bring It" playlist from the "Releases" tab. The second is track 2 from the "Unseen World" playlist, *"No God."* The third is the music video for *"Sense."* Covid forced them off the road for two years and more. They resumed in Japan in summer 2022 and then toured the U.S. in October. They started the 10th year with a new confidence and these recordings show it. The live "Domination" you just listened to came from a February 14th 2020 okyuji at the Line Cube Shibuya. There are four live recordings from that concert on their channel; *"Play,"* *"Freedom,"* *"Choose Me,"* and *"Wonderland."* You can find the recordings or videos from the usual places on their channel. So, that's ten live recordings to compare and contrast to their music videos or album tracks!
"Real Existence"...My No.2 MAID's track...Great MV....And Awesome LIVE...The first MAID's track I heard (MV)..So I love the MV...But the LIVE is FIRE!....What makes the MV even more Special for me..is that I have visited the temple, for real, a number of times...I even stood where the main camera was setup, held up my mobile, and watched the MV ..Like having my own personal performance..hehe.
During the 2023 Tenth Anniversary tour, 9 out 10 times this is was first song on the set list. It gets everybody going: band and audience. Humor is a huge part of Band-Maid. Miku Kobato, Band-Maid founder, primary lyricist, rhythm guitar, and the band's public face, has a far reaching sense of humor and the music videos often feature Easter eggs that only their Maidiac fans will catch. When the band is interviewed and they're asked if they have any goals, Kobato will emphatically answer, "WORLD DOMINATION!" and World Domination is the running gag that the Band takes very seriously.
I am glad you mentioned what was wrong with the 1st video. That is the only one of their videos like that. You will like the video for Warning. Maid's on cars ,fire ,and explosion.
22:30 - It's called "Hengao" ("funny face" in Japanese) and they do it to each other all the time. It only gets better from here so here ya' go: Freedom (2020 live) Hate? (Official Live) Secret My Lips & Secret MAIKO Lips Don't You Tell Me (Official Live) Warning! (MV) Shambles (MV)
Didn't you think that the Miku-Kanami guitar duel is THE GREATEST THING THAT'S EVER HAPPENED, like I do? If you watch closely, Miku's strumming super-fast, she looks like Roy Clark. Also, you can get two more listening experiences out of this. Miku's rhythm guitar is panned left and Kanami's lead is panned right. It's almost like two more (somewhat) different songs if you listen just-left or just-right. (And I, too, like your thoughtful reaction style mixed with some great smiley happy wonder faces).
See, this is the very reason I encourage reactors to also watch music videos. LIVE bring the energy but studio bring the clarity, but should be equally appreciated. For instance Akane's kick drum, as mentioned in the first video, is so much clearer in the studio version. Don't have a metronome, but as a former drummer I swear the studio version is a hair faster in BPM's. Maybe as a sound engineer you can explain why after a pause and restart, the restart sound becomes "flat" on the video sound. I notice it happens with several reactors. Sometimes it clears up but sometimes not and it remains flat.....totally ruining the entire video for me. Not all Band-Maid LIVE versions do it for me but I'll never say studio is "better", like many say 'LIVE' is better. It's Band-Maid so it's not a competition...enjoy them ALL.
Ginx Ojyousama(what the female fandom is called) is back already 😁👍 Glad your back for more. Also yes it's hard to pause in their songs. I find it fun to watch GINX trying to decipher wtf is going on in the tracks
DOMINATION live was the 22nd song of their 23 song set and begins with a segue that is the dying away of the last note of the previous song PLAY. At 17:14 - MISA, the bassist, Kanami the lead guitarist and composer, and Miku the rhythm guitarist and founder of the band, are playing Hengao - "strange faces" - with Akane the drummer, which is making funny faces to try and put someone off. Akane, of course, laughs along while not missing a beat. It shows the ladies' confidence in each others' abilities that they can fool around like this while all of them slam out note-perfect Rock at full tilt. At 18:13 - MISA the bassist is holding her plectrum in her curled finger so she can produce it and switch from slapping to picking in half a nanosecond! At 19:00 - Akane the drummer hitting two separate beats on her kick pedals while simultaneously continuing the song melody on her snare, toms and cymbal. At 20:04 - a brief glimpse of Kanami laying down one sweet rolling chord pattern - pure class. THE best live Hard Rock band on Earth.
Thanks for appreciating the MV. It's really well done IMO (and it was the first B-M I ever heard, so attachment issues :). It's also interesting what you said about panning and losing a guitar. The live version of Domination comes from their '21 Line Cube Shibuya concert and there are certain songs (not Domination) where fans have criticized the mix for the loss of Kanami's lead part.
As this song/mv is the mission statement of this band - to achieve world domination with their music - this song is also the anthem for all us Maidiacs. ❤🔥 And yes, this one is quite amazing, but still relatively harmless in terms of energy imho. :) We'll surely get to the newer songs, but for now my suggestion would be to turn back time even further and go back to their early days. Specifically to their song 'Real Existence'. :) Fortunately, there's also an MV and an official live version of it, so it's perfect for another double episode of your journey down the pigeon-hole. 🔥🤘🏻 ___________________ 「 _"完璧なんてありえない" / Perfection? No one gets there._ 」 - from *BAND-MAID* - 'Warning' ♬🕊
Welcome to the fandom! I suggest these Band Maid songs: Thrill, Dice, Bubble, Manners, No God (live), Puzzle (live), Hate? (live) & Don't You Tell (Live)
This and Freedom are the two most played songs by the Ladies. They are played at almost EVERY concert/Okyuji (Serving). The idea behind the MV is the Ladies are playing a game to take over the world, either through a widget, or an app, or any other means, even their own sex appeal. And we enjoy their MV's, but these Ladies LIVE for live performances. As you will find out. The Studio mixes usually have a lot of compression, which quiets down certain areas of the middle frequencies, which unfortunately include the backing vocals. You will find out in the live, what I am referring to. I'd like to see a Metal Drummer try to play one of Akane's kick patterns. I bet they have lots of problems with it. On the guitars, Miku, the rhythm guitarist/second vocalist is Left channel, and Kanami the lead guitarist is Right Channel EXCEPT during her solos where she take up part of the left channel, but not all the way left, sort of center left or left center. When you see the lives, check out Kanami's amp, where she has 2 mic's setup on her cab. When she gets ready to solo, she has a button on her pedal board controller that switcher the second mic on, switching her signal to stereo from mono. The second mic is mixed partway into the left channel to make her solos sound fuller. At least you don't pause as much as Jon does. If we did the drinking game on one of his videos, we would be drunk before getting halfway through. Not many bands go out of their way to write audience participation into their songs. The Ladies do. When you react to Play, you then need to watch the 2022 Dallas Fancam that Vladimir shot, in particular the Omajinai Time/Miku's Birthday. Trust Me, you will enjoy it. 22nd out of 23 songs, 2+ hours in total. On the mix, many of us think that Kanami's guitar is too low. In the behind the scenes video for their 2022 tour, she told the sound engineer that she was turning down the gain on her amp. I wouldn't doubt that she did the same for this concert. She tries to not overshine the other Ladies, so I think we need to bribe Dai-San to modify her amp so she can't change the gain settings.
@ginxmediaproductions Other Maidiacs will tell you I can get rather verbose and long winded in my comments. I usually will watch a reaction and as I hear a point I wish to reapond to, I will pause the video come down and type out an answer then go back up and resume playback. Throughout an entire video. There is a reqctor who normally publishes 60 minute + reaction videos and I actually hit the comment length limit 30 minutes into his reaction. By the time his video was done I had 4 comments that 3 of them hit the comment length limit.
@@ginxreacts Please do Choose Me next. They had a cameo on the movie Kate (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). That song was also featured in Peacemaker (John Cena) 🙂🙂🙂
こんにちは🤚 In addition to the studio version and the live version, Domination also includes the instrumental version. Please take a look if you like. BAND-MAID/DOMINATION(Instrumental)
I once bought this album as a digital download and it's actually crazy loud. I just checked Domination and it is apperently mastered to -3.5 Integrated LUFS 🤯 Since they go super hard all the time and there are not a lot of quiet parts in this song, maybe they get an extra high loudness penalty on UA-cam which could result in the chorus appearing quieter compared to other commercial releases.
Your reaction was just so funny...I really enjoyed how you treated toga guys who were pushing (in a friendly way ) to play the live version.....they ARE MANIACS after all...lol BTW so am I....Thanks and I hope you enjoy the trip down the pigeon hole........Peace & Respect from Montreal, Canada
@@mikeb7379 yes, Miku Kobato who created the band and is the Lyricist, guitar, vocals…she also says that she is an 810+ year old pigeon….Kobato can be translated as Small Pigeon!
I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve watched the OMV, but I’ve watched the Shibuya version at least 1,000 times since 2020, no exaggeration. It’s the definitive BAMD-MAID performance. In addition to the pyrotechnic instrumentals, notice how much SAIKI’s voice has matured by 2020. The OMV sounds so thin and pale in comparison to the live performance as well as recent studio recordings. Compare to three studio recording to the thunderous, face smashing, skull crushing sound of BAND-MAID’s two most recent OMVs: FROM NOW ON, and SHAMBLES
Hey, I love to hear what you have to say, and YES, THAT KICK is so good in this version where it is missed in the live version but again the live version is very special.
Hey Ginx! So, you can see why this live version is frequently the jumping-on point for reactors new to the band. The Maidiacs like to get all yall hooked early. Hahaha! Rock on! 🤘😎👍

Miku the one with pigtails backing vocals/ rhythem guitar came in 2nd place in a national poker championship....so that's why you see the poker chips...lol
I'm writing this 2/3 of the way through song version one, and just chomping at the bit waiting to hear what you have to say when the live version comes on. It is so much better live, so my bet is you're going to freak. My favorites would be the new official live version of Play, the new live version of Hate, the duel song live combo of Manners with Black Hole and the studio version of Daydreaming (best ballad). Band Maid is my favorite Japanese rock band, followed by One Ok Rock, Wagakki, Doll$boxx (another all-female band), among others. Right now Japan is killing it. Band Maid: Daydreaming: ua-cam.com/video/RCaeUkrItyY/v-deo.html Also, check this out from Doll$Boxx, if you want a 2nd all-female Japanese band that rocks it out with great musicianship. The cool thing about Doll$Boxx is it was a band tossed together when the original band had a lineup of gigs but lost its lead singer to illness. So, they formed a 2nd project, wrote entirely new songs and it is great. Leader of the band is the bassist. The drummer is out of sight, both on drums and vocals. The keyboardist is unique. Just all around great work. Doll$boxx: Loud Twin Stars:: ua-cam.com/video/Tl4QNXnE-XU/v-deo.html
In response to questions about the visuals: They put a lot of Easter Eggs in their videos that have meaning to the fans. For example, watch for Akane (drums) eating, or Kanami (guitar) expressing her girl-crush on Saiki by playing or gazing in her direction. There are many more but I risk putting too much in a comment.
Some other Easter eggs - Kanami has a degree in economics, so there is a economic terms in the video. I have heard Miku drop out of character in an interview, she talks like a CFO, yet another gap. I shouldn't be surprised, after all she did just walk into a record company told them her plan and they said ok, that never happens. Miku also loves poker and betting on horse races. Even on the new Hate? video Kanami bends backward upstage at the end her solo to see if Saiki thinks she looks cool. They are all lovable goofballs, that torment each other like sisters and protect each other like sisters.
The audio changed around 5:10 it sounded like bandpass filters on the video, after you switch back to you it cleared up. I listen to Band-Maid at least a few times a week. While the studio mixes are good, the dynamic range is so heavily compressed on the albums I struggle to listen to them. They are some of the loudest albums I have run across and are very fatiguing. Any playlist I put them they are by far the loudest. So I mostly listen to live versions.

this song has become their Anthem, since they first started their Mantra has not changed "world domination thru their music"its been in every set list on every tour since 2018, also because all of them are top tier musicians, there's none of this rock star ego crap about 1 maybe 2 members carrying the group, it just doesn't happen in this band
No, this has always been the lowest level mix of any BAND-MAID Music Video. It's been remarked upon since it's release. But from day one, BAND-MAID's stated goal has been World Domination through their services. So you could say this it their theme song. That's the reason for the BAND-MAID Monopoly Game Board and all the Products and business charts. The gambling aspect is because Miku is a gambler. You can see in this video she's playing her Aces & 8s Zemaitis guitar. Aces & 8s is the Dead Man's Hand ever since Wild Bill Hickock was shot while holding that hand. Miku has not only loved Horse Racing since she was a kid, because it was like a video game she liked,, but she came in second in a Celebrity Texas Hold 'Em Tournament on Japanese Television. You can hear the lyric "Hold 'Em" in their song 'Influencer'. The guitar balance is usually excellent with Miku on the left and Kanami on the right, but they don't hard pan guitars. It's not like when The Beatles sent their mixes to Capitol without instructions for a Stereo Mix, with the exception of Miku's vocals in 'Shambles'. That did get hard panned. But they did it as an effect with the first line hard panned left and the second hard panned right, which I thought was really cool. 22nd song of the concert. Yes, BAND-MAID play 2 hour shows, regularly. The Last show of the tour in Yokohama was 3 hours long. This mix at Shibuya Line Cube is unfocused, and the bass gets lost in the durms. Not quite up to BAND-MAID LIVE Standards, but still, they did a better job than Lollapalooza did. They had all those room mics to get the crowd response so it's more ambient than the usual BAND-MAID Direct-From-The-Board Mix.
When they were in England years ago Jimmy Page had to go back stage and meet Akane (the drummer, a.k.a. "the gorilla") and, I believe, compared her to John Bonham. When the other players huddle around Akane they're making faces, etc., trying to screw up her drumming. They mess with each other on stage all the time. They're actually all friends away from the stage. If you really want to see something wild watch the newly released live version of HATE? I guarantee you're going to be tapping your toes and smiling at the end of that one.
I feel like half of the time she just abandons the idea of drum as a rhythm instrument and just places every hit deliberately and uniquely.
She has some of the most unique fills and doesn't really repeat them as well which keeps things fresh through the song.
Introducing Miku Kobato, founder of BAND-MAID
She dropped out of university after one year in Kumamoto, a regional city in Japan, and came to Tokyo to become a singer.
She seemed pissed off!
Very competitive for sure!!! 😠@@chrisegbertky
Always a winner in my eyes!.
Agreed, I like them both.
Which is why you should always react to both!😂😂😂
why both when you can do No God x3?
TBF I don’t think there’s a more wholesome drug than Band-Maid.😂
Absolutely. My case.
Extra strength works best !!
I was about to say, this band is like a drug
I love the scene in the music video with the members sitting around the table playing (presumably) poker. Miku, founder of the band, is a seriously good poker player -- among the best amateur poker players in Japan. This same Miku plans to dominate the world ... but in the nicest possible way, with music, love and peace. And pigeons.
I love the way Kanami writes. During Miku's muscular rhythm guitar, Kanami plays these melodic motifs that add so much.
And Misa's taking a walk on the bass somewhere else...

Welcome to the world of Band Maid !!!!! It's so nice to hear intelligent comments and someone who can bring their expertise to share with
us.
Guess Im coming back 😆
You are dominated! 😊 This kind of domination will be happily welcome!🎀🎸🤘🏻
I really like when knowledgeable people in music do reactions with the studio and live versions in one. Good stuff
(from their own Anime MV (series?)): ua-cam.com/video/7LB_EPS48HE/v-deo.html)
And many songs are represented with over 50 well produced music videos. ua-cam.com/users/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYU-JI concerts:

Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.

Band-Maid Members:
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “StarQueen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies.

The Maids SOLD OUT 2023 US & Mexico tour wrapped up and was a fantastic success.
How long did it take you to type all that dude?
@@mikeb7379 LOL Yeah, it's a drag typing this thing out every time. I wish my typewriter had a copy and paste feature. 😖
May I suggest Band Maid manners and blackhole (live) its a 2 fer..😉
In my honest opinion, they are by far the best live band I’ve ever had the pleasure of learning about, seeing live and listening to
"HATE" OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO AT YOKOHAMA ARENA just dropped yesterday! It's badass!!! ❤
Greatest BAND EVER ❤❤❤❤❤!!!!
It only gets better from here so here ya' go:
Freedom (2020 live)
Hate? (Official Live)
Secret My Lips & Secret MAIKO Lips
Don't You Tell Me (Official Live)
Warning! (MV)
Shambles (MV)
IT IS EVEN BETTER the second time. She has fun live streams, you guys should check her out if you see her on.
👍👍👍BAND-MAID 🔥🔥🔥!!! Double greatness. 🖖❤
Ginx Ojyousama(what the female fandom is called) is back already 😁👍
Glad your back for more. Also yes it's hard to pause in their songs. I find it fun to watch GINX trying to decipher wtf is going on in the tracks
Well, there is a reason why they drop mostly live videos on their channel ! It's obvious that it is the way to go !
Cheers from France!

That's it, that's the face! You're in it now! BAND MAID forever!
I don't watch the Domination MV very often, so this was a real treat. Miku has played some serious poker if I remember right.
What an awesome breakdown, thank you!
@ginxmediaproductions and as an aside, you can twll if I am responding from my cell or.my computer based on my misspellings and grammar usage. :)
Off-topic, Ginx's Band-Maid reaction videos are the reason why I'm way behind my deadline.
And yet, here I am, watching this new reaction video.

In addition to the studio version and the live version,
Domination also includes the instrumental version.
Please take a look if you like.
BAND-MAID/DOMINATION(Instrumental)
I once bought this album as a digital download and it's actually crazy loud. I just checked Domination and it is apperently mastered to -3.5 Integrated LUFS 🤯
Since they go super hard all the time and there are not a lot of quiet parts in this song, maybe they get an extra high loudness penalty on UA-cam which could result in the chorus appearing quieter compared to other commercial releases.
They are playing the game of world domination
I forget there's an official version. I've seen Domination Live so many times now. A fantastic entry point for Band-Maid, po.
Pigeon hole?
Stick around for a while, it'll make sense, promise.@@mikeb7379
That “guitar off to the right” reminds me of the end of Scorpions “Speedy’s Coming” circa 1974 or 1975.
After seeing Domination live I knew that B-M is no joke
Still my fav part in Domination is Akane's fast reggae beat after the bridge.
Hey, I love to hear what you have to say, and YES, THAT KICK is so good in this version where it is missed in the live version but again the live version is very special.
As you've probably guessed this is their opening song (serving) BTW Hello Hello Helloooooo
Hey Ginx! So, you can see why this live version is frequently the jumping-on point for reactors new to the band. The Maidiacs like to get all yall hooked early. Hahaha! Rock on! 🤘😎👍
MISA MISA MISA!!!!! the live for Me is by far and away the best for production THE BASS who cares if the guitars are a little low THE BASS
Good choice doing both the studio version and the live one. I love the live, but it's nice to see the small details they change for live shows.
Ginx it was a pleasure to watch your reaction.
It was a great decision to watch both videos !

I like them both also.
両方の反応素晴らしかったです。あなたなら「Giovanni」studioとinstrumentalの両方楽しめると思いますよ🤘反応ありがとうございました👍続けて下さい🇯🇵

Also, check this out from Doll$Boxx, if you want a 2nd all-female Japanese band that rocks it out with great musicianship.

Thank you!..lol, and I am all for you testing the “too much in a comment”😅

There should be a law against being this tight live lol
Great format. Great reaction.
Thank you! ☺️
Band-Maid Live is always better.
Akane beats those drums like they owe her money
this song has become their Anthem, since they first started their Mantra has not changed "world domination thru their music"its been in every set list on every tour since 2018, also because all of them are top tier musicians, there's none of this rock star ego crap about 1 maybe 2 members carrying the group, it just doesn't happen in this band
Destiny of soul, where are you, Po?
That line gets me every time…❤❤❤
👍👍👍👍👍
The MV is notoriously quiet. No idea why.
miku is a major poker player - came in second in national poker competition
Woo Hoo!!! Get to watch again. Is that a opps on the date in the title?
LOL….what you didn’t know we time traveled to the future during that live!?😅😋…you know…in my DeLorean Time Machine 😂
And thank you for catching that..I updated it😉
The Warning!!!
Thank you for this detailed thought out comment!🙂
Red, black and white are the colors of propaganda. There are lots of meaningful symbolisms used in this video.
There's a photo of Akane and Page together floating around on the internet. Akane has denied the Bonham comparison happened.
