Sad, yet a great and uplifting story. Not until COVID19 I discovered Australian programs, and I am grateful that I did. The content, and presenters quality is superb. Thank you.

So incredibly brave to expose himself like this. I have adult ADHD and was a brilliant writer and student up until year 11 when things got wobbly in my own life. Reading became an absolute struggle for me until I read ice station. His style of writing non stop movement of mind thought has allowed me to enjoy reading again. Thank you Matthew

@perfectday. My son is ADD, he's 35 now. He began reading Matthew Reilly when 11. I think it helped him immensely as he read widely of many genres as Matthew Reilly described himself. My son went to Uni at 21 and graduated as top scholar in Arts with Language/literature and Islamic studies. I think my son might eventually become an historian one day. For myself I am 68 and reading my 1st Matthew Reilly book....Seven Ancient Wonders. It is page turning and reminds me of one of my favourite authors Frederick Forsyth. More often than not I read widely in science for conservation of wildlife so quite different to my son. 📚

Such a sad story Matthew you are my favourite author of all time, and I have had the pleasure of meeting you a couple of times now, but this story breaks my heart I knew about it, as all good fans do but to hear you talk about it and to be so emotional its just heartbreaking , I know that time has moved and and you have remarried I always wish you well, naturally I want to read more of your books.

Marriage joins two people and when one commits suicide the partner also dies inside yet they are alive. Your journey is so powerful because you went through a horrific experience and came out the other side with growing pains as you heal and live anew.

Thank God he got the chance to live again.
My eldest son took his own life and the only thing that stops me from doing the same is my other son. I don't honestly know if he could handle it. I mustn't do that to him.
However, its still a recurring thought that I cannot seem to shake and whenever I find a slice of happiness, something always happens and I don't get to hold on to it. Maranatha 🙏🏼

@@craigjeffs6733 thank you, Craig. Thats v thoughtful. I already found peace and happiness, I just mislay them occationally.
I'm, we, me and my family and friends, as blessed.
      My eldest is safe now.
Unfortunately, I think that once we have contemplated or attempted suicide, it will always rear its ugly head as a possible solution, in times of crisis.
Thank you for your concern. Namaste, bless you, peace and love and happinessfor u too ✌🏽💜

I just realised I kind of knew both Natalie and Matt from UNSW. Around 1993. Matt worked as an elevator attendant while studying Law. Natalie seemed kinda quiet. Wore these distinctive round specs. Black trim.

Such a sad and wonderful story. It's so sad that Natalie, as a psychologist, could not save herself. I lost a brother to suicide 20 yr ago. It is still hard to believe he is gone and that he took his own life. I hope Matt is living his best life.

I was nodding in agreement when you were talking about bereavement. When I lost my husband of 58 years, I lost my identity and felt like I needed to reinvent myself, but didn’t know how or who I was. Two years later I realize that I’ll always feel married and never single.

Take a note women, how he treated his date is how you should be treated. We have lost so much from dating and romance. Friends and family would screen the guy, and make sure he knew you had people looking at for you.

Wendy Herbert Thank you for taking the time to speak to me! I am very afraid & everyone thinks I'm alright but I called a help line & the woman who spoke to me just said I'm selfish, which I feel I am as well!
Thank you Wendy for talking to me it meant so much that you cared for someone you have never spoke to before! I am still numb & badly need some help however, now that I haven't found someone constructive , I don't even have anyone to turn too! Take Care & You made a difference to me! Leenz x

Leenzial Conner sometimes when you reach out you get the worst responses! It’s her, not you. Do hold on, try different things. No point doing the same things if nothing is changing and you’re more afraid and sad.

Mercy D Thank you so very much Mercy & what a beautiful and fitting name! I am a trained Nurse & in the last 3yrs , I have had 15 back operations which has been a major problem. I have over 75% nerve damage & the ONLY treatment they have came up with is morphine 24/7 ! I had to stop it because I wasn't living Mercy! I was very much saddened , with my GP who has said " No one dies, just because they're in pain???" Which is true, however it's not helpful when you are depressed! I do feel hopeful Mercy that I will overcome this awful depression , there is such a stigma about depression & suicidal thoughts or tendencies! Thank you Mercy , for your care & kind words of comfort!

Leenzial Conner I used to be a Nurse too!! x
I think my scars were all emotional as it is for many of us health care workers and chronic pain is a bitch. We gotta be our own nurses now but so many people find creative ways to manage their pain.

Donna Amanda Jackson aww Donna that’s a bit rough! Nothing like a little healthy escapism to get you through the days of slow social collapse and the every looming threat of extinction. Reilly’s books are great for an aimless fast read, I think to comment what you did, without having read his work says a lot about yourself.
