I was homeless in Leeds for 6 months in the summer of 2015 and literally hadn't a penny to my name for months on end. Things have since changed, and every time I make a trip into town I empty my pockets to the homeless.

Homelessness can happen to anybody and due to covid and cut hours and lack of money this issue will only get worse . People just assume that all homeless are drug addicts or alcoholics when really it’s a broad selection of human beings . So if you can people when you see homeless folks please just help them out with food or change . It’s a problem of everyone not just the politicians.

Glen, you are a true gentleman to bring this out like this, it brought a tear to my eyes watching this, it was so heartfelt. Why are people like this still on the streets when if you are an illegal immigrant you get to stay in a 5 star hotel?...this government should open their eyes and my mum always said "charity begins at home"...so why dose`nt the Lottery do something about it instead of giving MILLIONS to places like Opera houses, I dont know about you Glen but I go to the Opera about 3 times a week....I dont think so. BORIS...get off your arse and do something good for once instead of causing havoc among us Brits.

I was homeless in Skipton once through no fault of my own and ended up being put up in a hotel so when I see someone selling big issue I buy one and give them all the coins I've got and like you I came across someone sleeping in a sleeping bag but it was middle of winter and offed payed for him a meal and a coffee in a cafe with me and the story he told me of the abuse from his father had made him leave home and end up homeless as he couldn't get a room at your where as he'd no .money for the deposit is was devastated I couldn't find anywhere for him this was a long time ago but sometimes I think of that young man and I hope he managed to get somewhere to stay

Thanks Glenn. It’s a disgrace that as a society we allow this to go on.

  • @unknownmixed3955

I hate this society. I wish the people in government would sleep out on the streets and I think it would help them to get to work much faster is trying to get everyone off the streets. I try to give what I can when I can but ultimately the system needs to change to make it far easier for homeless people to get jobs and homes quicker and easier

I was out in Leeds Saturday daytime and there were a lot of homeless, some asking for help some in sleeping bags trying to keep warm, but they are like the forgotten people. Everyone’s just walking past like they don’t exist. I’ve never experienced homelessness, I can’t imagine what it would be like. I do what I can, I wish I could do more

This video was so touching to watch for a few reasons.
    1. seeing a big man cry like that it must have got to him really bad.
    2. Remembering how self absorbed humanity can be.
    3. It reminded me of when I was homeless.
I was homeless many moon ago and I remember how hard it was to survive.
I'd go threw supermarket bins to get out of date food.
I'd wrap my self with tinfoil under my clothes in winter to stay warm.
I'd use public toilets to wash.
I'd try find a safe place to sleep but the police would move me on of people would jump me or try piss on me.
I never asked for money only the time.
Now I am married with a sick job so I do help those who need help.
The issue you have is junkies begging with there cup as well as real homes people.
I don't give to anybody who asks for money I only give to those not Sat begging.
If they say there hungry ill buy them food.
The reason they say don't give to the homeless is because over half you see on the street are junkies who have a house and is a or dla/pip the come beg get 30-40 quid then call there dealer.
Buy them food etc coz junkies need money real homeless would be content with a bit of food,New Sox, underwear, pair of shoes so they and air there other pair.
