Thanks for the explanation. If you had to choose between “positive clutch” and “versa clutch” for an all purpose screw gun, which might you prefer? I’m looking for a corded screwgun to do both metal and wood fastening.
I will do an updated review showing the performance and comparing it to drywall screwdrivers yes there are cordless versions and yes other manufacturers such as Milwaukee and Rockwell have made adjustable Torque screwdrivers
My friend just gave me one and I took it home. Plugged it up and the motor runs great. I put a flat head bit in the drill push down while drilling and nothing is happening. I tried everything to get it to work. I guess I see why my buddy gave it to me. He going to tell me before he gave it to me that he had it for a long time and that it works great!! I get it home and it doesn't work great!! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂😂 I guess I'm fixing to take it apart and see what makes it work
It is a clutch, you have to press down while it is running and the adjustment is for where it will start to slip. These are very similar to drywall screw drivers but they are for sheet metal.
Bahahaha.... whoops... noob herewas told it was a plaster drill... bought it for 15 bucks... couldnt see how it actually did plaster... but not unhappy to find out what it actually does through this vid.... cheers

This is a great gun I've had mine 15yrs I've put in some hard work with these guns. Very reliable.
Noob question - how do you get the drill bit to drill? The bit won’t turn on either direction and just sounds like the motor is running.
The adjustable torque mechanism is a clutch so you have to push down in order to engage the bit
You also have to apply presure to the bit.

Yes one of the nice things about these is you can use extensions and even use socket adapters and drive small Nuts and Bolts
you can, note that the simpson website is wrong about the adapter to use, Versa-Clutch motors take DWA3G2

They're pretty expensive around 165 retail but if you hunt around and get them for a better price
