"why does it look like every enemy is going to be like a boss battle" I remember in the journey to the west the whole adventure was like "oh is that a twig or twig demon? welp time to battle" which im so down for, boss battle left and right.
The funniest thing about Journey to the west is that Wukong is usually the ones that says "hey thats thing is definitely an evil demon, lets go another way" and everyone else says " that, couldnt be" and wukong almost always have to take care of it.
"He's just a monkey chilling" Sun Wukong nearly solod everyone in heaven and pissed on Buddha because he felt insulted for being a stable boy. Man wanted every singular ounce of smoke.
@@LoliMaster69227 the thing is that, he has a mind of a teenager, he doesn't understand moral principles set by heaven, well he challenged heaven because his village (hua guo mountain) got involved in the heaven and hell war. And all his people (monkeys) died for no reason. All buddha kept saying was "it was inevitable". so he got very pissed.
@NotKingNothing dont worry bout these people saying "cringe". i honestly loved that clever joke. it was made it looks like and it seems you spent time trying to come up with something clever just for these guys to say cringe. tbh they are all cringe because thats a word that recently became trendy and that shows they are followers of someone they want to be or look up to. and that is what a guinea pig is for. i actually almost shit myself because ur joke was actually funny. dont let their lack of humor you have make you feel something different. they are followers like i said and you made a joke that you created and is actually funny. i dont lie either like if a woman asked are they ugly then ima tell them the truth they are ugly as fuck so yeah i think ur joke is actually funny. and remember... they are followers...and it doesnt take a follower to be a leader... leaders are born... and you are a leader. have an amazing day/night/morning/afternoon dude! keep your head up and keep the grind. life is like a movie... the grind is just scene one! much love coming from a rapper as myself. i wont disclose who i am but just know this account is fake and i wanted to take the time to tell you even the big dogs see the little dogs. im an example to show the underdogs even have a chance. just keep the hussle my guy. much love.
@@SuperRONDALE ahh yep that makes sense since Son Wukong is basically an extremely arrogant, but powerful demigod, claims that no heavenly deity can best him, and with the sadistic part as well.
First of all, great reaction video! Here are some lore i know about the last character who, i agree with you, will be a very important one in the game: The last character wearing a yellow rope is the Yellow-Browed Demon. In the original novel Journey to the West, the Yellow-Browed Demon tricked Wukong and Tangseng (his master) into believing that they had arrived at the final destination of the journey - Leiyin Temple, where in fact it was just a trap set by the Yellow-Browed Demon. In the novel, Wukong was captured by him and was detained under his gold cymbal (the huge gold disc you see at the end of the trailer). If you listen carefully, you can hear three knocks at13:09 indicating someone was inside. In the novel, it was Kangjin Dragon (the statue you see at 3:07 was his human figure) who rescued Wukong by drilling a hole in the gold cymbal with his dragon horn, hence the significance of the statue displayed by itself (instead of among other statues in the trailer). The Yellow-Browed Demon used to be a disciple of the Maitreya Buddha who was also called the Future Buddha. In the trailer at 12:07, the Yellow-Browed Demon called himself the Future Buddha and was scolding, "Why are you not paying respect (bowing)to me? " His was also the voice in the entire trailer. There are tons of lore in the game trailer in terms of characters, scenes, locations, building, and music. The developers really put lots of effort into it. I hope it comes out great!
I looking forward to how do they portray a few of these demons. Golden winged vulture, the centipede(I want to see people react to his technique haha) and scorpion. the classic white bone demon may appear as well.
@@Xero488 That will be interesting, an enemy with the exact same stats. I'm not sure how much they will adopt from the lore, but Buddhism is the central theme and GuanYin is sort of impt as well. I wonder if she will appear and they will be able to capture her "presence" and "aura" like how it's in the classic show. I realise many adaptation change the story here and there..in the original novel, is there a snake demon? snake demon is popular in some adaptation but i guess in the original actually is missing so...
@@Xero488 ohhh..if that's the case then good. but we shall have to see. I mean this game could turn out different. they may add new stuff also. I don't mind change as long as its good.
sekiro imo is safer to play because u can just block, parry or dodge and u can just win a fight by out parrying the boss. parrying is way too hard in soul games and the bosses do crazy amount of dmg.
@@jdennis867 from my experience sekiro is easier once u get the parry and counters down, from playing nioh 2 u mainly dodge but a lot more work you have too put in to win
Sekiro was the easiest for me. Idk how people say its the hardest. I even reccomend people to play sekiro first before going to the Souls series and or even Bloodborne. Sekiro gives so much room for error compare to the other soul games. Bloodborne gives you no room for errors. You fuck up... that's it. There is no shield or block to hide behind. You dodge and counter. That's it
@@notsoaveragegamer5725 it's hard cause not every body is good at parrying and the game forces u to play a specific style whereas in soul games u can choose ur build and it's easier because bosses don't parry.
Goku is Wukong and Wukong is Goku, they're the same character taken by a Chinese novel called "Journey to the west". It's really famous in Asia. You should read it because it has crazily epic storyline! Wukong is a monkey king but they made Goku as an ape. Goku's cloud (idk what it is in English, but it's Kinto Un in Japanese) is actually exists in Wukong's story, so is the Nyoibou cane (the cane Goku brings when he was a kid). And Oolong is based on Cu Pat Kay/Zhu Bajie, Wukong's friend who accompanied him throughout the journey. He's also called: Sun Wu Kong = Chinese name Son Go Ku = Japanese name Son Oh Gong = Korean name Sun Go Kong = Indonesian name Tôn Ngộ Không = Vietnamese name And many more..
is there a version of the novel anyone could link/recommend me to, to familiarize myself with the character. I have watched a movie called journey to the west but the dubbing was pathetic and i left it.
@@AniketKumar-ts5gt the book journey to the west cover pretty much every thing about him but it's very long like 2000 pages I'm not exactly sure whare to find it but you should be able to look it up and find it
@@AniketKumar-ts5gt I'm a Chinese and I haven't read the original book of journey to the west, because in China, the original book of journey to the west is presented in classical Chinese, which is difficult for a Chinese to understand, but the TV series of journey to the West has been with me throughout my childhood. Compared with your books of journey to the west, I recommend you to watch the film and television version of journey to the West and the sequel of journey to the West, Because journey to the West was shot in 1986. If you think it's difficult for you to watch it, you can directly watch the sequel of journey to the west, because it's easier for you to understand. Go to a TV play instead of a movie
I remember seeing, that DB was going to be based on the Journey to the West, but later got changed. I saw this quite some years ago, not 100% sure if true, since I can't remember the source. But it would explain why early Goku is clearly inspired by Wu Kong, but later on it has nothing to do with him.
if you read the history of monkey king, he deadass had hella enemies because he was so cocky. This game will probably have all the enemies he's fought to get revenge in heaven
yeah, the orginal Dragon Ball was heavily inspired by Journey to the West. How Son Goku acted, his power pole, the flying nimbus, how he trained, is all from the OG Monkey King. A lot don't even realize that Tien Shinhan is based off of Erlang Shen, the War God that managed to defeat Wukong once.
I’d argue that the only reason he won is because Wukong didn’t want to go all out in front of his subjects; his monkeys were terrified of his giant form and decided to go small instead
@@The_Art_of_AI_888 well, more like trapped him. Wukong got distracted and was thrown off guard. And keep in mind: this was BEFORE he achieved Buddhahoood.
The first season of Dragon Ball was literally a Journey to the West adaptation. It's not until later in the series where they veer off into space aliens n' shit.
Lol Akira himself has confirmed this it’s pretty common knowledge actually. They only get crazy explosion and aliens after dragon ball. If yu haven’t seen it check it out. It’s awesome.
I still shock how a lot of ppl dont know this. I am glad a game like this is being made but there going to be some folks be like Wukong is copying Goku lol smh
Bulma is tangsen, Goku of course the monkey king, oolong is zhubajie and Yamcha is sashen. Chichi is the iron fan princess, ox king is ox king. Instead of journey to the west, it's journey to find the dragonballs. Vegeta is not just an average Saiyan, he has risen above and became a super Saiyan.
Btw, at the start when the narrator was refering to "you", he's refering to the team of 4 from the original journey to the west (I say original because I'm not sure if the game will be a new iteration or not). You're here for a great cause, to pick up what's tried and failed, and make it whole - the monk Tang Sanzang, the great cause refering his journey to retrieve the Budhist scriptures. You want to be among the gods, and hear your name praised by generations to come - Sha Wujing, this one is kinda ambiguous, could be Wukong too You see this journey as a way out, an escape from what you deem unimporant - Sun Wukong, the reasoning here being that he really only wanted immortality and stay in his mountain. And you. The simple one. All you want is shelter and dinner - Zhu Bajie (the pig), should be pretty self explanatory.
Wukong is based off the Chinese story "Journey to the West." It has been around since the 1600s in literature form. The story is literally the prime influence and/or what gave birth to anime.
exactly , this is why i look at ppl stupid when they say naruto is better then dragon ball z. they’re loosely based off the same shit fr, yeah they have their differences but most of it still ties to the journey to the west.
@@berserkmaster2514 not what im trying to say im teying to say that it doesn't matter and we should worry About other things than "which anime is better" comparisons
Afro, Dragon Ball bases almost everything on Journey to the West, the Epic Novel that Wukong is in. Wukong was trapped in a mountain because he waged a war on heaven but was freed by Tang Sanzang to go on a journey to find sutras in the west. Goku stuck around his mountain where he grew up with Grandpa Gohan until Bulma came and asked him to go on a journey with her to retrieve dragon balls. Wukong could transform into a giant ape Goku could transform into a giant ape Wukong's Ruyi Jingu Bang/Golden Cudgel is a rod that extends and thickens and is basically Wukong's most powerful weapon. Goku's Power Pole extends. Wukong could summon clones of himself by releasing some of his hair Goku creates afterimage clones of himself Krillin was based on the perverted Pig Demon known as Zhu Bajie who joins Tang Sanzang and Wukong on their journey Zhu Bajie is a pervert Krillin as a child was quite the pervert, had his own collection of lewd magazines Yamcha is based on Sha Wujing, the sand demon. Yamcha was first encountered in the Desert Sha Wujing is a Sand Demon Tien is based on Erlang Shen, the 3-eyed Demi-god who's basically a military leader in Heaven's Palace. Chiaotzu is based on Nezha. The nimbus cloud is based on Wukong's Somersault Cloud Chi-Chi's father, the Ox King is based on Niu Mowang/Bull Demon King Chi-Chi is supposed to be based on Princess Iron Fan. The Bansho Fan is based on you guessed it the Bansho Fan/Banana Palm Fan there's a shit ton more. (Edit: Shout out to the homies who also read Journey to the West)
i didnt read journey to the west but ive watched the netflix series "legends of monkey". also props to you for writing all of this. you know your stuff
I would argue that the most important things to wukong were his home and his family. Once he discovered mortality he thought "Who are these gods to decide that my friends should die?" Then he erased his monkey friends names from the book of life and death making them immortal. He went on to destroy most of the heavens and would have completely destroyed them had the Buddha not stepped in.
Journey to the west is a suggested book to read in school. Together with Three Kingdoms, Dream of Red Mansions and Water Margin. I think Water Margin is also a good novel for game because it has 108 heroes the collect.
My God, I always thought it was great for western countries to know the journey to the West. I didn't expect to know China's "four famous works". It's too rare. I'm sorry for my idea
I've read three of those: Three Kingdoms, Water Margin and Journey. They're all brilliant. Still have Dream to read and then Investiture of the Gods! Chinese literature is amazing.
I just finished Journey To The West. Because of Black Myth: Wukong trailer. Not bad at all. Hope it helped me more understand the story when it's coming.
12:08 That guy is Huangmei, “yellow eyebrow”. You can see his eyebrow is yellow right? That's him, the final boss of one chapter in Journey to the West.
Glad you're enjoying it, I'm looking forward to the game as well. Here's a bit of context on the background, hope it will help: Journey to the West was a fantasy story about Sun Wukong accompanying his master (Xuanzang, a monk who is also a reincarnation of Buddha's disciple) to the west to retrieve some Buddhist scriptures. Son Goku is the Japanese pronunciation of Sun Wukong's name, and a lot of his abilities and gadgets were based on Wukong (the pole and nimbus). Oolong is inspired by Xuanzang's second disciple, who is a pig demon. Accompanying them on the journey, there is also Xuanzang's third disciple, and Xuanzang's steed (a dragon transformed into a horse). Each of them (except Xuanzang) are being punished for something in their past life, and the quest is a means of redemption. Along the way, they encounter many trials and demons who want to eat Xuanzang's flesh for the power and life that it would grant them. I think the voice-over at the beginning was to call out that, while they're on this noble quest, the disciples are actually selfish and only in it for themselves. That was and probably will be the main character development that we will see in this game.
I recommend overly sarcastic productions videos on Journey to the west, it’s great at summarizing the story, sun wukong’s character traits, and you’ll see just how much that one folktale influenced all shonen anime
Sun Wukong is in a LOT of Chinese based shows, games, comics etc. it’s just a super famous myth that gets revised with different premises over and over with references in a lot of stuff like the Nimbus cloud and lightning, the staff (Ruyi jingu bang), and the golden crown/ headband. Seeing how it’s a Buddhist/ Taoist story (Journey to the west) it’s influence spread quite a bit in areas following the practice and beyond.
AfroSenju XL: "I'm just worried about the localization" Me: "By the time this game drops I can most likely understand chinese" *Currently prepping for the HSK1 (A1-Level) Exam* Wish me luck guys!*
11:12 Everything. he literally did everything. in the beginning of Journey to the West, he actually managed to make enemies with all the gods and demons of the Chinese mythologies. And the demons and gods he hasn't encountered, are incredibly terrified of him and would always plan carefully if they ever encounter.
okay hold on i got a question i heard from some where that he the guy that defeated the god of heaven what happened like why did make enemies with every one
I noticed that they changed some of the abilities from the last gameplay showcase and this one, the last one had transformations into defeated foes and he was able to put enemies in stasis. I honestly think those abilities would be pretty cool and hope we can use all the abilities shown in both trailers, cause these ones in this trailer too look great. This looks to be a great game
The Journey to the West is monster fighting fiction to some, political manoeuvring to some, personal struggle for some. it has a ton of metaphors and symbols. Read it ten times it's deeper than Game of Thrones.
The very fact that you are comparing it to the Game of Thrones is a huge insult to the original fiction. But I don't blame you, because people nowadays will habitually rank modern popular fictions much higher than classical ones. I personally would compare Journey to the West more to Don Quixote, Os Lusíadas, etc.
@@jamesshen7066 More similar to Don Quixote than Lusíadas. Lusíadas is an epic poem more comparable to the Odyssey or Divine Comedy. Journey to the West is a mroe traditional novel. But yeah, you're right regardless, Song of Ice and Fire has nothing to do with Journey.
Journey to West is the story that inspired the concept of the original dragon ball series. The main two components that are featured are nimbus and the power pole, but Goku like the monkey king is a monkey and travels on an epic adventure filled with peril.
@@theworldbreaker tbh, sun wukongs personality still somewhat resonates with goku in super, since he wants to battle more and more powerful foes and literally fought a god, which is what sun wukong literally does on a daily basis in the mythology
The monkey king fights so many things is fucking exiting he’s getting a game finally I’m super hype. Also he’s super OP once you know what he’s capable of 🤧
I believe Tenshinhan from Dragon Ball series is inspired by Erlang Shen, especially the third eye on the forehead. Also Goku's father-in-law Ox-King is basically Bull Demon King from Journey to the West. Ox-King's name is Japanese is Gyumao it literally means bull demon king. As for the story, the original Dragon Ball plot structure is fairly similar to Journey to the West with an overarching arc of finding the Dragon Balls/Searching for Buddhist's Sutras. While both stories are "monster of the week" affairs with each major monster/boss covering few episodes/chapters.
Journey to the West is pretty much the blueprint for what Shonen would become. DBZ, One Piece and Naruto have incorporated the myth of Wukong in some capacity. I recommend to watch the Wisecrack video on Dragon Ball where they explain the influence Journey to the West had on it.
that dragon is one of the most majestic boss iv ever seen when it flew up into the sky 9:52 with its mane flowing and was illuminated by the sunlight and all you saw was a silhouette of the serpent as it got engulfed by the light it was so beautiful i fucking love it game looks sick give it to me now do this for us china and we will forgive you
There is a really good video by AvenueX who explains all the details about the trailer and how they relate back to the story of Sun Wukong and even the old 80s TV show. Like 99% of the stuff you see is a reference to something in the source material and it's pretty wild. Also yes, Wukong has A LOT of enemies.
The bird fear actually makes sense, there’s a demon owl living in my neighborhood and it terrifies everyone. It’s species is actually called ‘The Demon Owl’! nuff said
Those snow effects were crazy, the only thing I really noticed was that when he was running with his staff down, the staff didnt have collision with the snow, otherwise it would have been perfect to me
At the end was the Yellow Eyebrow Monster who faked to be the buddha and entrapped Monks in the novel 'Journey to the West', the 'UFO' thing in the very end on the mountain was his weapon 'Jin Nao'(Golden Cymbal), in the original novel the Yellow eyebrow used it to trap Wukong inside of it(can hear someone knocking inside if listen carefully), and in the end the Kang jinlong,(who was exactly the lightening dragon Monkey defeat in the trailer) saved Wukong with his horn. Love your reaction btw!
Yep, the staff and nimbus cloud you get from Goku is a direct reference to this guy. The staff can extend can extend pretty far if needed. Goku as a character is a reference to this guy, especially if you know in the original series, he had a tail :p.
Just for a reference for this Chinese myth, wu Kong is one of the main protagonist for a Chinese story called "journey to the west". So much so that they even make his story solo in many ways from shows and into game. Wu kong is a mystic being that was born from a rock on top of 花果山 ( mountains of flowers and fruits) due to the positive and negative powers of the land. He is blessed with superhuman strength and was also taught 72 transformations and ways to immortality by a Taoist martial artist named puti zhushi, which wu Kong promised not to share his name for where he learn his skills. After all this the monkey king then established himself as a powerful and influential demon. He then when to east sea dragon king palace to get a weapon from the king. All weapons failed his test except 如意金箍棒/定海神针 (monkey king staff/golden rod/stabilizer of the four seas). He took the staff and thus causes the seas to have natural disasters as the staff serves as a needle to stabilize the seas. He also was presented with a chainmail with striking Phoenix feathers on the top of the headgear. Thereafter he alliance with alot of other demons due to his influence. Bcos of all this acts he was sentenced to death by hell, but bcos of his powers he caused an uproar in hell, worse still he manipulate the lifespans of all the monkeys he knew. All this acts r reported to a heavenly emperor named "jade emperor" that governs all life, the jade emperor then proceeds to call upon. His heavenly armies to wipe sun wukong and all of his monkeys out of existence but failed. After he wrecked havoc in the heavens, the jade emperor invited him to the heavens and give him a promotion with a rank amongst the god. He was given the title : protector of the horses. However he later learned that it was a fancy name for the lowest rank in the heavens as a stable boy he got furious and set all the horses free and went back to his land proclaiming himself as 齐天大圣 (The great sage, heaven's equal). I will skipped this small part as he was tricked once more into being a peach picking boy in the heavens. So he get himself drunk and stole all immortality pill and immortality peaches and ate them. When baq to his mountain cave and prepare rebellion. Sun wukong single handedly defeated 100000 celestial soldiers, nezha, four heavenly kings and proved his equal to a deity named 二郎神/杨坚 (who did almost the same thing as sun wukong due to family love). Eventually the Taoist and Buddhists join forces and got the bodhisattva of mercy to help and was able to capture sun wukong, who was locked in a 8 way trigrams crucible for 49 days of burning in hopes to melt wu Kong into essence and make into heavenly pills. However the fire not only didn't kill wu Kong but also made him stronger with stronger body frame and gains a vision ability called 火眼金睛(golden gaze) which let's him see through any evil. So in the end no other choice but the Jade emperor proceeds to seek help from Buddha and thus was able to lock wu Kong under a mountain sealed with Buddha power to keep him sealed. There after comes the journey to the west story after 500 years of his sealing.
The game revolution is getting crazier and crazier with the quality of the graphics approaching to look real and the innovation of the game genre being more varied
The thing about wukong is that he's basically a god wu long is also capable of standing on his pole to gain distance wukong has the ability to just blow a few hairs and he can clone himself he can also widen his pole to be big enough to flatten the Empire State Building another thing is that most of the time wukong can pretty much do alot it's even said he is EXTREMELY strong
The dbz power pole is based on Wukong’s weapon, the Ruyi Jingu Bang/Nyoibo/Yeo-ui, an iron pillar with gold bands at each end, which weighs 17,750 pounds and can change size at its bearer’s will, used by the heavenly bureaucracy to measure the depth of water in unspecified times of antiquity and subsequently used as a structural pillar in the palace of Ao Guang, the blue dragon king of the East, before Wukong claimed it to use as a weapon.
definitely give journey to the west story a shot cause that is the story of wukong, even god of high school manwah touches on his story a lot more, takes things out of proportion a lot, but still Chinese mythical stuff taken
Tell me if you heard this before...a story called "Journey to the West" where the Monkey King named Sun Wukong has a power staff called Ruyi Bang that can extend and he rides on a magic cloud called Nimbus. He has a companion cursed pig-man Zhu Bajie who can change forms. Oh... and Sun Wukong name in Japanese is Son Goku.
Yep. Ruyi Jingu Bang, usually when people, including him speak about they called it Jingu Bang. Technically is a cloud somersault, where he can travel fast distance in a single leap. Zhu Bajie is not really cursed...not in the usual sense. He is reincarnated into a pig so he has a pig body.
@@gooddreams8495 the stick was used as a ruler to measure water level and floods in the dragon palace, it was a thousand kilos, and wukong used it cause it was "just the right weight" to wield. what a cocky brat xD

Most people who use weapon get the weight that just suit them and Wukong standard is simply much higher than others hahaha
Sun Wukong legit stole his alcohol from the gods and fought every high-class deity by himself until he was sealed away from a Buddhist, there are still a lot of deities wanting smoke with him. Each of those boss fights seems to be each of the gods, spirits, and demons he fought in the journey to the west, there is a series of youtube videos that cover it if you want to know more.
Mad excited. People are about to find out why Wukong is goated fr. To answer your question about why Kong is running fade with every god, tbh.... HOMIE JUST WANTS ALL THE SMOKE!
In terms of the wukong comparisons they are as follows 1.The relativity to being a monkey 2.Having the flying nimbus 3.The power pole 4.The perpetual invincibility that Goku has achieved along with achieving god-hood (the invincibility coming from wukong stealing and earning invincibility gaining and or strengthening items and then Goku...You know being Goku)

The scale, scope, depth of this game is crazy, every statue is there for a meaning, representing different god and Buddha. Even every word has deep meaning. Not just express the core idea of the game, the story, but also mocking at the developers themselves. Most of the developers used to make another game about wukong called “dou zhan shen”(god of fighting) which is wukong. that has a great story line but the game is so screwed due to many reasons. So they gather up again for this black myth. At the beginning the subtitle says: some of you trying to make great achievements, some of you trying to be among the gods, some of you try to be free, some of you just wanna feed yourself with simple food. But I’ve seen trough all your disguise. The same lust and desire.” The developers of the game is also facing lots of problems, distrust. Some of them trying to make great game and say it’s their childhood dream and it’s all about passion. Some of them try to make this game great so they be among the “god” of the gaming industry, some looking for freeedom that one day they can do anything they like and enjoy, some just wanna take care of their family. But behind all these “disguises”, the same thing(mentioned by the dick head bird that everyone wants it so bad) is about money and fame. In the game that thing could be a real tool or weapon. We all have dreams, but as we grown up old ass, we have to face the reality. Yes at the end it’s all about “that thing” every one is looking for and want it so bad, it’s money and fame, there’s not right or wrong about this. The core of the world is like a cycle, destiny. And wukong wanna break all these shits so he has to stand alone against the entire world. those with powers got corrupted, people were fooled, and some one stood out rebuilt everything. Years later they got corrupted again. I think these are the core ideas that the game is trying to discuss and deliver. Every building is 1:1 restore from real life landmarks(ancient buildings)in China. And I feel like the story ain’t gonna be about wukong along, all the good guys bad guys will have their own background story and agian there’s no right or wrong, they probably just do their job and that’s it. At the ending, the leader of the little men is the Buddha of future. Here’s what he said: since the future(Buddha of future) is right in front of you, why don’t u bow down(to me, to the future, to your fate) The fire circle wukong drew on the ground used to protect his master monk and his junior fellows according to the tale. Demons can’t enter that circle. At the end the hat looking giant thing is a Buddhism weapon which according to the ancient tale, trapped wukong inside. Main theme is from 1986 drama journey to the west. Lyrics at the end: so where is the way? The way is right under your feet. (Repeat) Ending caption: after overcoming all the barricades and difficulties, I’m on my way once again. Like the developers, like wukong. The core is never give up even if your enemy is the entire world, even if this fight will never come to an end
This game is going to have 3 genres of people playing it 1: people saying naruto and dragon ball were inspired and based off of journey to the west 2: people saying "Yoooo! HE gOT gOkUs POweR pOle and FlYiNg nImBuS fAm" 3: people labelling it sekiro return to monke edition
"He was just a monkey chillin'" Hah, say that to his face. He literally shoots a lazer right after bowing in each cardinal direction into heaven and it disrupts the Jade Emporer, ontop of that, he literally fights the gods because they made him a stable guy and because he stole the peaches of immortality, disrupts a heavenly party, forces people to call him the The Great Sage Equal to Heaven, challenges EVERY GOD IN HEAVEN, and pisses on Buddha's hand... About the pole. It's name is the "Ruyi Jingu Bang," which he can shrink down to the size of a needle and keep in his ear, as well as expand it to gigantic proportions. The rod, which weighs 17,550 pounds, was originally a pillar supporting the undersea palace of the Dragon King of the East Sea, but he was able to pull it out of its support and can swing it with ease. Sun Wukong (If we can call this one that) runs into many "demons" who just happen to be godly beings who've been corrupted. I can understand why Feng named this game Black Myth (Game Producer of Black Myth) and he said that its because "hoped to give the Monkey King's name back to him. He said the tale is from China, but everyone refers to him as Goku, so he wants to let the world know his true name is Wukong." "Why is he gettin' all this smoke from all these demons though." WHOOOOO Boy do you got a lot of reading to do. So, the main premise of Journey to the West is so that Five People YES. THE HORSE IS THE FIFTH MEMBER to return some scrolls to India. It is funny that you say this because Wukong mostly gets into fights with those "demons" because they tend to capture Tang Sanzang and devour him so that they can berid of their sins to return back to normal. Reason why I put demons in quotations is because they're not really demons. They're mostly just godly beings who've been corrupted by acting sinful or sinning. I can't say for sure that's what this game is going to provide but it's definitely one of the main elements as to how these demons come about. The guy at the end is in fact, very important. He's the Future Buddha, or in better words. His title is Maitreya. You know those fat buddhas that people keep talking about and thinking that he's the only buddha? Yeah, that one. the story of dragon ball got a lot of its back story elements from a Chinese story called journey to the west and the main character's name is Sun Wukong in Japanese is Son Goku.
If we could an avatar game with this same concept it would be so fire. Imagine Aang using his glider like how Wukong used his staff it would be amazing.
A fair bit of dragon ball is from wukong. Son goku is the name of the monkey in journey to the west. Goku’s monkey tail is well…. Obvious. And the power pole or nyoibo as it’s called in the manga and the journey to the west is shared
To answer his question at 6:08 almost everything in dragon ball can be related to journey to the west even the oolong is based off a companion from the story and the journey it’s self (kinda all anime) is kinda taken from it like finding allies on your way of the quest is inspired by the story even tien has a sun wu kong counterpart
Unreal engine 5 looks sick in that first fight the way his airslash permanently slashed the snow and just everything affecting the enviroment is straight beautiful
Also the guy at the end is the Yellow Eyebrow Demon (one of the early ones the team encounters). When the team encountered him, he was pretending to be the Buddha Maitreya, aka the Future Buddha. Hence his line, which losely translate to "You are in the presence of Future, why do you not bow down?" He's also the narrator throughout this whole thing. Hence why if you really read into his monologue at the end, they are kinda extremist.
Journey to the west is basically what this game is with wukong as the main character, and in the original dragon ball where Goku and his friends go looking for the dragon balls, the idea of their journey was taken from journey to the west, also Goku having a monkey tail and being a saiyan is taken from wukong and Goku having a staff that extends is taken from Wukong, and yes so is the nimbus. Hope that helps Afro!

First of all, great reaction video! Here are some lore i know about the last character who, i agree with you, will be a very important one in the game:
The last character wearing a yellow rope is the Yellow-Browed Demon.

Goku's cloud (idk what it is in English, but it's Kinto Un in Japanese) is actually exists in Wukong's story, so is the Nyoibou cane (the cane Goku brings when he was a kid). Glad you're enjoying it, I'm looking forward to the game as well. Here's a bit of context on the background, hope it will help:
Journey to the West was a fantasy story about Sun Wukong accompanying his master (Xuanzang, a monk who is also a reincarnation of Buddha's disciple) to the west to retrieve some Buddhist scriptures.
All of OG Dragon Ball is basically a retelling/adaptation/callback to Journey to the West.

Yup. If not for wukong, there would be no dragonball.
Facts I agree it is

Dragon Ball drew inspiration directly from Journey to the West. It explains why Goku has a tail, flying nimbus, and power pole.
I’m so happy to see frame drops in these gameplay trailers. Showing that these clips are legit.
Journey to West is the story that inspired the concept of the original dragon ball series. The main two components that are featured are nimbus and the power pole, but Goku like the monkey king is a monkey and travels on an epic adventure filled with peril.
What a nice, simple concept... It's such a drastic difference to the Dragon Ball we know today.
@@theworldbreaker tbh, sun wukongs personality still somewhat resonates with goku in super, since he wants to battle more and more powerful foes and literally fought a god, which is what sun wukong literally does on a daily basis in the mythology

Same monkey who really battle the whole heaven, Buddha, and so many more all because…. Why not?
THIS IS NEXT GEN MY BOYS!!!!
The way the monkey slapped the dragon to finish it off was too smooth he didn’t have to do him like that
Journey to the West is pretty much the blueprint for what Shonen would become. DBZ, One Piece and Naruto have incorporated the myth of Wukong in some capacity. I recommend to watch the Wisecrack video on Dragon Ball where they explain the influence Journey to the West had on it.

Those snow effects were crazy, the only thing I really noticed was that when he was running with his staff down, the staff didnt have collision with the snow, otherwise it would have been perfect to me
Look closer.... It actually does collide with the snow

"Why is he catching all the smoke from these demons? What did he do?"
If only you knew...
dude! those snow effects at 5:15 are REALLY GOOD
Wukong has quickly grown to be one of my favorite mythos characters of all time.
Well yeah no duh He's strong. His pole weighs 70k+ pounds and he jumped across the universe so he has those thunder thighs.
can he beat goku? no body beating goku, who beating goku? nobody beating goku.

@@jonathanleebh haha yea, even the dragon king cannot touch it. I know they say long time ago Great Yu use it to stabilize the flood/sea or something but I not sure the exact application.
I think it shows how powerful he is and since his strength is too much wielding a light weapon will restrict his power.

Combination of a classic adventure and souls game

Mad excited. People are about to find out why Wukong is goated fr. To answer your question about why Kong is running fade with every god, tbh.... HOMIE JUST WANTS ALL THE SMOKE!
In terms of the wukong comparisons they are as follows
1.The relativity to being a monkey
2.Having the flying nimbus
3.The power pole
4.The perpetual invincibility that Goku has achieved along with achieving god-hood (the invincibility coming from wukong stealing and earning invincibility gaining and or strengthening items and then Goku...You know being Goku)

Here’s what he said: since the future(Buddha of future) is right in front of you, why don’t u bow down(to me, to the future, to your fate)
The fire circle wukong drew on the ground used to protect his master monk and his junior fellows according to the tale. Demons can’t enter that circle.
At the end the hat looking giant thing is a Buddhism weapon which according to the ancient tale, trapped wukong inside.
Main theme is from 1986 drama journey to the west.
Lyrics at the end: so where is the way? The way is right under your feet. (Repeat)
Ending caption: after overcoming all the barricades and difficulties, I’m on my way once again.
Like the developers, like wukong. The core is never give up even if your enemy is the entire world, even if this fight will never come to an end
Plenty of anime and games are literally based off the original story and characters of Journey to the West, with Wukong being the most popular.
Basically Son Wukong is the most op character of fiction itself, I can’t think of any being other than God more powerful than him.

Wukong can transform into anything/anyone, he can multiply/make clones, he can expand, stretch is staff, and he has a flying cloud
“You’ll never see me watch happy feet. I hate penguins the most.” The fact that your serious! 😂 oh man I feel for you bud, it’s a great movie 🤣
Afro doesn’t know that the power pole was based off of this weapon.
goku is based off sun wu kong. wu kong is known as the strongest goofiest warrior to ever walk the earth... sounds familiar ?
"He was just a monkey chillin'"
Hah, say that to his face.
He said the tale is from China, but everyone refers to him as Goku, so he wants to let the world know his true name is Wukong."
"Why is he gettin' all this smoke from all these demons though."
WHOOOOO Boy do you got a lot of reading to do.
He's technically a bodhisattva but also a buddha? Difference being that a bodhisattva is someone who is able to reach enlightenment but decides to stay back to guide those who suffer and a Buddha is a title for someone who is awakened, and has attained nirvana and Buddhahood through their own efforts and insight, without a teacher to point out the dharma.
This has absolutely been my most anticipated game from the very first trailer.
You are so absorbed by the fighting scenes that you forgot to read the subtitles :D
BTW the game looks really DOPE and has a great GRAPHICS
"Those hits seem...heavy" His staff doesn't way 17,550 lbs or anything
I've just googled for the release date of this game.... just says 2023. These things take time I guess. It's probably good news that it's far away, it means they're putting a lot of time and love into it :o)
Day 1 purchase for me!
Being released later doesnt confirm anything lol
the story of dragon ball got a lot of its back story elements from a Chinese story called journey to the west and the main character's name is Sun Wukong in Japanese is Son Goku.
i’d love yo see wukong in record of ragnarock, they could’ve done wukong vs buddha but they missed an opportunity
The first dragon ball was heavily inspired, the rest aren’t too much
goku whole personality is inspierd by wukong
To answer his question at 6:08 almost everything in dragon ball can be related to journey to the west even the oolong is based off a companion from the story and the journey it’s self (kinda all anime) is kinda taken from it like finding allies on your way of the quest is inspired by the story even tien has a sun wu kong counterpart
Never would’ve thought we’d actually be here but let’s gooo , 6 hours and counting 🔥 🙏🏼
This is gonna be the spiritual successor anime arc to Sekiro.
Son Wukong can easily destroy goku
