Yeahhhhh new tool day!! Seems to work great. The soil only needs around 5% organic matter. If it is more then weeds will become too much of an issue. As always a big 👍
@@Itsirislisette It is not about the soil that is beneath the cardboard. It is about the soil and organic matter that you add on top. The University of Wageningen recommends around 5% organic matter. Anything more than that is a waste of money, and it isn't more beneficial. I am not talking about mulch on top of the soil. I'm talking about the organic matter that is mixed in the soil. 👍
Hi Iris, nice work and great fun as well 😉 with the no-dig garden beds, it's such a nice way to grow your veggies. Too bad about the plastic bags indeed, could you not have had it delivered roadside or is that too inconvenient and to much of a hassle to get it to the garden? Those mini chainsaws are really great aren't they, how does it go with the thicker branches? Have a great week!!! Cheers Bert 🙏🏻💚
@@LifebyBertie Thank you! 😊 Unfortunately, bigger trucks can’t turn around and/or can’t make it up the steep drive way. It depends a bit on how big the truck is and if they know the area or not. The mini chainsaw does well with bigger branches too. I cut a few with a diameter of around 7 cm. But then of course, it does not run as smoothly as it would with a bigger chainsaw - it will take more time to go through the branch, sometimes even takes a few „attempts“ to finish the cut.
Hello there, first time on your blog. If than mini chainsaw is a Mader then you've wasted your money as un reliable quality.. Those bushes you are cutting are Minmosa and is a vicious weed, cutting them back will only make them grow three time more in spring. When you see the new growth come, wait untill a foot high then spray with Round and cooking oil 50/50 this will kill them and give you clean land for next time and watch for new seed popping up as they can be a problem. I know as been clearing my land for years, it was 10 times worse than yours when I bought it. Have now got a large lump cleared and producing. I am a market gardener and now just grow too feed me so if you have any problems or things you need to ask, feel free as am in Portugal as well so have a fair idea now on planting times and what you can and can't grow. In the meantime, have fun.Just one thing, olives are a waist of time as you can't eat them, there are other trees you can grow that will feed you, but your choice.Would like as where you are and where you from as the name is Irish but the accent sounds southern England.

@@insAneTunA Yes! 🙌🏻 It‘s a fun little gadget! I think that the weeds should be no (big) problem, thanks to the cardboard barrier 🤞🏻

Hallo Iris, hast du eine Ersatzkette? Und weißt du schon, wo du die Kette schärfen lassen kannst? Grüße aus dem Allgäu

Next time place a couple of heavier rocks on the cardboard to keep them from flying away.
For sure!
