Thanks Judith, it's actually the clay pots that hold some of the moisture and it releases it when the soil dries. It's just like the clay pots used for irrigation :)
Hi your irrigation system issues may be due to over pressure 6 bars seems high, you may just be exceeding what the pipes and fittings are rated for. The pressure pump in my house runs at 3 to 3.5 bars.
Agree 6 bars for water seems way too high and not surprised piping and fittings struggling with the pressure. we have 2 bar (30psi), plenty high enough for water
Thanks Craig! I assumed the gauge had broke as it was initally only 3.5bar, i tried reducing the pressure twice but it didn't seem to work. Will have to get the manual out and play around with it :)
@@rootsdownhomestead No worries, its possible you have a faulty pressure switch, when I have had issues with my house pump in the past it has usually been the pressure switch. You might also want to look into bleeding air from the pressure tank, air in a pressure tank can cause odd gauge reading.
You can buy pipe saddles to prevent the pipes from moving when the pump kicks in. Looks like you could probably fit one onto the blockwork just above the 90 degree bend. This should secure it.
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you guys, team work makes the dream work 👍😁. I think 6bar is much to much for your water system and making new trees from branches is something for the winter because they grow roots in the winter and leaves in the spring you can try putting them for now in just a bucket of water sometimes it works.
Thanks so much Arjan, always appreciate your nice comments! Yeah i think you're right there. Will try the cuttings another time and see if they work :)
You learn by mistakes glad your lady is back have you thought of burying your pipes maybe the heat is too strong for the hose it s all a learning curve good luck to you both
It’s great having her back 😊 I was going to bury all the pipes but the pipe to the well doesn’t have much space for it be buried so will have to go back to the drawing board☹️
It looks like you can reduce the the pressure setting on the black plastic box in front of the pressure gauge. You can turn that screw with a flat screwdriver and that will reduce the pressure at which the pump will stop, I agree with other comments below, 3-4 bar should be plenty.
Thanks so much for that Mark, i found the regulator behind that and think there is a fault as it is meant to switch on at 1.5bar and stop of 3 bar! The manual is less than helpful with this so trying to do some troubleshooting!
@@rootsdownhomestead ok, yeah I guess pumps are different, mine have a bolt with a spring in that plastic box. I can release the bolt to lower the cut off pressure. User manuals are usually useless when it is more than plug it in a switch it on. Maybe you need a new switch, I think they are pretty standard as long as the pressure rating is similar and the connection is the same size. Good luck.
To generate many trees rather than cuttings which do not produce advanced trees and is hit and miss can I suggest you learn air layering propagation. I have had amazing success with this method. I hope the summer begins to cool down soon. My experience with pumps is they always chase the weakest point and continue to always find it.
Ah really? Didn't know they didn't do well, thanks for that! Will certainly try out the air layering propogation, i've seen it before but never thought to try it myself. Should give it a go, especially with the fig trees that have many many branches! Thanks again :)
Hello guys ,trying new things ,new ways is always help and lead to improvement ,the aloe verra and prickly pears they are hardy plant they can survive extreme heat the rest need more attention till the grow bigger. hope they will make it till next spring. thanks for the update
Thanks so much 😊 Yeah we need to plant some more succulents that survive well 😊 Pleased to say some of the mulberry cuttings have grown new leaves already 🙌
Thank you very much e volte sempre 👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
I feel your pain on the irrigation issue! We live in Arizona and each summer we fix 1-2 leaks, only for 1-2 more leaks to pop-up immediately. Its the heat and clay soil. Hang in there! Love your channel!!❤
Yeah it's a reoccuring thing, plus i was a complete novice when i built it so i probably could have made it better. Aw, thanks so much for the support :)
Hi Mark Alice (nice to see you) and sweetest puppies ❤ keep up your methods of madness Mark everyday a school day 😊 garage is looking proper "tidy" 😂 take care all ❤
Hi guys! Good to see Allys back in the farm 😃 Marc in regards the pump, I think that pumps are something that always need to be fixed so, any fixing it's always a temporary solution 😅 I hope your trees will do well, specially the "medronho" one so fingers crossed 🤞 About the garage, and trying not be me "old fashioned" with my opinion: the men always need a "push"/motivational words from their partners to clean and organize their messes 😅😅 but the garage now looks great! Keep up with the great job that both of you are doing! Abraço 😃
Thanks so much David :) Yeah you're right there, always a repair job! Hope they do well too, cost of trees can really add up so would be great if we can get some good results from cuttings. Haha yes i agree there, i am definitely the messy one, Allys is more organised ha!
Good question :) It's very hot here in Alentejo during the summers. The polytunnel gets to like 45 degrees, for the young plants like this it's very difficult for them to grow. We keep them in the polytunnel during the winter though as we get a few frosts! :)
NEW videos out every Wednesday at 5pm GMT+1 :)
You can paint the inside of the clay pots to help retain moisture.
Thanks Judith, it's actually the clay pots that hold some of the moisture and it releases it when the soil dries. It's just like the clay pots used for irrigation :)
Thanks sharing must enjoyed watching your video 💯👍🤗
Thanks so much Celia :)

Thanks :) Yeah it does seem high, when i installed it was only 3.5bar! So unsure whats happened there

I hope the new plants survive the summer heat. That farm is certainly keeping you busy!
Thanks Reet! Me too :) Plenty to do but it's a struggle with this heat
Hugs from Brasil 🇧🇷 🎉❤😅😊
Thanks so much for watching :)
Great to see your work in the garage. Inspiration for me.
Thank you! Was a long job in the heat haha
Too much pressure out of the pump mate. If it has a regulador drop it down , otherwise you will always have leaks.

Waiting for those harvesting video's! Enjoying these aswell tho😊
Haha thank you 😊 I’m waiting to do them! Hope we get some decent harvests this year as we did last year 😎

Thanks a lot for the tip Scott! Will try and find that and give it a go 😊

I think that s to much pressure for the tube, 4kg it s the limit
Yeah you're right, think i've found the issue now :)

Thanks for the tip :)

How come you don't just keep the nursery plants in the greenhouse? (Just trying to learn for myself)

Haha we love the Welsh! We used to live in wales and Allys is part Welsh (her name is actually spelt the Welsh version of Alice😊)
Just think of all you have accumulated since you moved in.
Thanks :) We've done a lot, more than we give ourselves credit for. Always more to do though haha
