Not sure if the band looks at these comments, especially after all this time, but this song has to be my favorite for so many reasons. Not sure as to what purpose or intent it was written for, but for me, it was a song of healing during my separation and eventual divorce. I can't tell you how often this song was sung at the top of my lungs in my car with the tears a'flowin' down my cheeks. My comment was not to sadden but to inspire that life goes on and this song gives strength to those who need to find their way. No longer out of place my friends :)
Me too I mean singing the song ofc but may better things come to you and even greater love and success to you man dying give up and keep moving forward
We are trying to embrace every word of this song my wife and I as our family faces so many hardships and tribulations... Somehow someway we will overcome this shit... Please pray for us.
Starting over again at 33, and this song has been my life line. I've spent so long trying to fit into where I was supposed to and was nothing but miserable. Not anymore!!!!
@Heather Dolan, I have been there as well and I know it can be tough. I have had to start over a few times, one of those times I only had my clothes on my back and my vehicle and God brought me through it. Not trying to push my beliefs on anyone, just saying what helped me through it, lots of prayers and God putting things in place. Now I am blessed to be married to a wonderful man, a home and my loved ones close by :). We fought hard to survive and made it and I hope and pray that things have fallen in place for you :)
Grew up with 10 years on satellite TV. "Wasteland" by 10 years, and "The Red' by Chevelle introduced me to alternative rock/metal. These guys shaped my musical taste for my entire life.

@@floydsemlow8253 right. Even have an CD that isn’t suppose to be for the Public but leave it to the internet to find a way. It is for an album that never released on Spotify. Called K.A.T.H.Y. I had never heard of 10 Years until I went to a Seether concert in August. Lead singer came out with a red jacket on, big red sunglasses and a painted on mustache. What can I say? I'm a fan now!

This is my first time hearing this song today 08/30/23. It’s so good! I’ve only heard their probably most popular song Wasteland and I’ve loved it for so long. I never thought to try to listen to any of their other songs. Im not disappointed!
Heard this on Pandora years ago. I was married and battling addiction. I was introduced to opiates with girl i was dating. Well 20 yrs later and I'm 29 days clean. My wife was murdered bc of our addiction when have 3 kids together that i feel I've ruined them. Listening to these older songs reminds me of all dumb shit i did for a temp fix. This song actually has the opposite affect with me. I immediately identified with it when it first came out. Defeat was the storybook of my life through the filter of my selfishness. I’m 2 1/2 years sober now and it has EVERYTHING to do with Jesus Christ. Not religion, but a relationship, with Jesus. Reading the comment that you still struggle everyday with your past broke my heart brother. Scriptures like Romans 8:1-2, Philippians 3:13-14, 2 Corinthians 5:17 & Philippians 1:6 has set me free and given me hope. I’m not ashamed of my past anymore. I embrace it but I don’t live in it. People can relate to your downfalls but what’s even greater is how you overcome them. That’s what makes your past relevant! I don’t know what you believe or what kind of experiences you’ve had with the church (the people of God). Don’t let the hypocritical Pharisees that have bashed you change your perspective of God. God actually hates religion (I know that sounds weird). Jesus just wants your heart, not a set a rules to follow (which is what the hypocrites in this world full of religion tend to focus on). I can embrace the lyric “I’m fine in the fire” because I know that Jesus is right there with me. I could never fix me. I tried, it didn’t work. I can’t fix anyone else. I tried to save my mother, she died in her addiction. The Holy Spirit spoke to me in a supreme moment of healing saying, “you could never save her, I’m her savior”. Only Jesus can fix broken things. I wanna leave you with a song that gives a different perspective to this. I also want to leave you with a scripture that will not only bring hope but will change your life if you choose. This song is very open to interpretation, brother. There are multiple ways it can meaning for you. Great song. Helped me too... just in a different way.
@@matpalazzo1965 i second your interpretation, many people do n make things that not even they know the interpretation of, could maybe be taken different ways but it seems pretty plain that being at peace even with the daily struggle of life has quite a bit to do with everything you've said. This is the most underrated but amazing band that ever existed, without a doubt. Every song has so much depth and meaning. Thank god for artists like this.
Just saw 10 Years last night; I didn't realize how much I loved them untill I saw them live. All I can say is... Wow. The lyrics; the theatre - all of it was so honest. Wow.

Blarghuaght. Guys, the video is the direct representation of the bands experience with record labels trying to change who they are and the music they play. It's not lacking at all, it actually explains to a T how the record labels push the bands around to monetize the hell out of them
My dad and I went to see 10 years live with Chevelle in Fort Wayne Indiana about 10 years ago. Damn time flies. Anyways it was by far one of my favorite shows I've ever seen. Such beautiful artistic lyrics and he really knows how to throw on a good concert! I would love to see them again someday❤
"I'm fine in the fire,i feed on the friction, I'm right where i should be" I interpret this as "Im fucked up, but fucked up is all I've ever known, and I'm not broken so dont fix me."
"I'm fine in the fire, i feed on the friction, I'm right where i should be, don't try and fix me" That verse best describes how i feel about people and about society in general because all my life i had people try to change me and be something and someone I'm not and don't want to be and I'm not gonna be. I'm happy with who i am and those who don't like it i don't need nor want to be associated with them. I'm happy being my true self my one of kind true self. 💯🤘🤘
Listening to the lyrics and interpreting them in my own way, I feel like this song describes the place in my life I was in my mid-20s…emotionally lost, but content to stay that way.
for all of you that day the video is horrible: I enjoy the video, it shows the band's humor, it shows the real them having fun. one point of music is to have fun with it. not just to be serious all the time. I love the song and the video.. the video also does a great job on what the song is about. I give it huge thumbs up lol
How the hell did I not find you guys before now!? In a state of shock - oening lyric line, and I was in tears. I cannot fault you guys - Lyrics are phenomenal. Vocally, leads are perfect, harmonies are huge. Musically, you guys are tight! Xx
I'd give anything including my life to watch the cops and judges, and my mother, and others responsible for my baby brothers abuse, the scars on my back, and the living like we were less than human. I want to watch them all suffer unholy torture and agony for what they did
Starting my life again at age 23. I have started to fix myself. …I am no longer afraid, because I have God, Angels, my friends, and my family by my side. …I am taking back the control in my life. …I have faith. I have love. I have properties.
I used to listen to this song when I was depressed and walked around my house at night, drunk at 15. Takes me back to that feeling. Still depressed, still an awesome song 🤝🤘
saw them live earlier tonight they we're so FUCKING Amazing Update: two years later. Still in love with them 🤷🏻 Update: 5 years later and my opinion remains the same.
I owe you guys my life. Without your songs I’d never have made it this far!! Love you all and keep writing music that fills my soul completely and entirely!! Thank you
So I'm getting ready to turn 44. My daughter just turned 18 and this is the only song that she will listen to that I raised her up on. She just listens to all the new crap lol but at least I got one. At least I got one song that I love that she loves and that's okay
Its band is absolutely pure. I love to read so many comments about how cool and great they are and how come they dont get the attention other bands do. Im a big fan since their beginning and have never known another fan personally. I hope one day I meet someone who likes 10 years as much as I do.
Actually, this video has everything to do with the song. Just listen to the first line "its taken a lifetime to lose my way, a lifetime of yesterdays..all the wasted time on my hands.." They are talking about the image others (record labels, etc) have tried to mold them into. In the video, they play all these stupid "characters" who are not the people they are. It's wasted time for them, they are fine with the band they are, the people they are. If it's going to end up "burning" them, so be it. Jesse states "I fail to follow"- he's a leader and does what he wants. They had fun in the video too just because they've made alot of serious videos but their cool as hell goofy guys. Love it.
You know, I absolutely see what you are saying. I never really noticed it before. Regardless, I had loved the video before reading your comment. But reading this makes it all that better now. :)
Just saw them at 98 Rockfest, Amalie Arena, Tampa. Great band. Jesse Hasek stepped into the crowd on my shoulder and my 16 yr old daughter was freaking out. I was a bit amazed and sterstruck, even at age 54......lol

This one of those bands man that are just iconic sounding never forget hearing them first time back on octane or seeing them live at a 97.9 secret show in pa. Just incredible talent
I just re-found this band! I started listening to it a few years back in middle school, but my parents thought it was a bad influence on me because its rock/metal music. I can't believe i forgot about them! I was sitting in bed when a song popped in my head but i didnt know the band name so i looked up the lyrics and found 10 years, again:) Their music isn't meaningless like the majority of bands (they always have a lesson or something that you can learn from in their songs), and plus i'm sick of all the boy band-craze going around:P Jesse and the band never dissapoint me with their music! It's amaing! Fix me, Shoot it Out, and Backlash are my favorite music videos/songs by them, but i love all of they're songs. I want to go to one of their concerts, but they never come to SC. I'm waitng for them to come to Georgia, maybe, but i won't be able to go until 2015:(
This band is new to me , l know , whatever . These guys are awesome ! I'm a classic rock fan . But there's so much out there and I want to expand my music knowledge. I was thinking of old stuff but this is cool .😊
Don't try to fix me. I'm not broken. It's taken a lifetime to lose my way, so stop telling me where to go. My lifetime of yesterdays won't lead me to your tomorrow. Crossing the lines, performing small crimes, are my way of taking back what is mine. I'm fine in the fire. I feed on the friction. I'm right where I should be. I've been so lost and so out of place for so long that I've failed to follow. So don't try to fix me. I ain't broken.
Holy frigging shit. A song can't have a different meaning to those who hear it? I wasn't quoting the lyrics. I was relating one cool fucking song to the things that happened to me.

Blarghuaght. Guys, the video is the direct representation of the bands experience with record labels trying to change who they are and the music they play. It's not lacking at all, it actually explains to a T how the record labels push the bands around to monetize the hell out of them
Song is suited for an Anime or Superhero Movie Fight
@@christiandauz3742i hope in 6 years you've learned to not be so cringe 🫢
10 years ago, 10 years made this song, and it is still going to shine like gold in my memories
I have been listening to your music for about a decade. But lately I find myself hooked. 10 Years is AWESOME!!! 1/26/2021
"I'm fine in the fire,i feed on the friction, I'm right where i should be"
I interpret this as "Im fucked up, but fucked up is all I've ever known, and I'm not broken so dont fix me."
"I'm fine in the fire, i feed on the friction, I'm right where i should be, don't try and fix me"
That verse best describes how i feel about people and about society in general because all my life i had people try to change me and be something and someone I'm not and don't want to be and I'm not gonna be. I'm happy with who i am and those who don't like it i don't need nor want to be associated with them. I'm happy being my true self my one of kind true self. 💯🤘🤘
Listening to the lyrics and interpreting them in my own way, I feel like this song describes the place in my life I was in my mid-20s…emotionally lost, but content to stay that way.
one of the best rock songs ever
for all of you that day the video is horrible: I enjoy the video, it shows the band's humor, it shows the real them having fun. one point of music is to have fun with it. not just to be serious all the time. I love the song and the video.. the video also does a great job on what the song is about. I give it huge thumbs up lol
here in argentina this song gained good airplay in radios of rock..
10 years later. Still an awesome song.
2023 luv this band
How the hell did I not find you guys before now!?
In a state of shock - oening lyric line, and I was in tears. I cannot fault you guys - Lyrics are phenomenal. Vocally, leads are perfect, harmonies are huge. Musically, you guys are tight! Xx
Still loved 2022
God I love this band.
They should get way more attention than what they have right now.
[FTW] Okami no Kiba im saying
I just love the look Jesse gives at the beginning of saying "friction" :)
So hot...seriously, love that line
He is a cool guy all around
His eyes are perfect.
@@antoniasandoval3534 agreed. And I love how his teeth are not the typical perfectly straight teeth celebrities have. Makes him even hotter
@@ggmommy33 yusss!
Count your stars... Some people go through life not knowing what they want... I would give anything, to be a father.
To be a GOOD father, at that
Yes very good point
I'd give anything including my life to watch the cops and judges, and my mother, and others responsible for my baby brothers abuse, the scars on my back, and the living like we were less than human. I want to watch them all suffer unholy torture and agony for what they did
Levi Corey i hope you and your brother get the justice that you both deserve
justice is a myth. laws prevent justice.
Killer song!! 10 YEARS rocks!!
Starting my life again at age 23. I have started to fix myself.
…I am no longer afraid, because I have God, Angels, my friends, and my family by my side.
…I am taking back the control in my life.
…I have faith. I have love. I have properties.
I'm over 41 and this song still sticks.
I used to listen to this song when I was depressed and walked around my house at night, drunk at 15. Takes me back to that feeling. Still depressed, still an awesome song 🤝🤘
I know where you're coming from but let it go. Life's to short.
Depressed at 15 just meant being 15, IME.
saw them live earlier tonight
they we're so FUCKING Amazing
Update: two years later. Still in love with them 🤷🏻
Update: 5 years later and my opinion remains the same.
ya I got to hold him up during this song :P
+YoungWinston i was so close to touching him
but the crowed surffed him away from me
+Jamie Sheldon Luuucky. I would love to see them.
i was their too lol

I owe you guys my life. Without your songs I’d never have made it this far!! Love you all and keep writing music that fills my soul completely and entirely!!
Thank you
So I'm getting ready to turn 44. My daughter just turned 18 and this is the only song that she will listen to that I raised her up on. She just listens to all the new crap lol but at least I got one. At least I got one song that I love that she loves and that's okay
@djnone8137 I'm so sorry for your loss brother. I know there's no words that can express how you feel so I can just say I'm so sorry

This song will amp you up." I'm fine in the fire, I feed on the friction. I'm right where I should be. Don't try to fix me!"🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Such awesome lines.
Truly amazing lyrics!
I love this damn song listening to it in 2021!!
Its band is absolutely pure. I love to read so many comments about how cool and great they are and how come they dont get the attention other bands do.
Im a big fan since their beginning and have never known another fan personally. I hope one day I meet someone who likes 10 years as much as I do.
Amazing 2000s band, this song really sucked me into them, the lyrics and the melody are what mainly made me fall in love with this song and the band 🤘
Awesome. One of the most under rated bands period.
You guys are truly an inspiration, your lyrics helped me save my own life...
Bands been underrated for over 10 years
Love y’all so much!!!😍
Still loved in 2021!
I'll never understand why 10 Years has been so underrated.
I'm glad I could give you a perspective & yeah I'd love the video with or without meaning haha
Julie Chambers If you see them live they are incredibly goofy and the lead singer is funny as hell.
ScottyBoy843 I've seen them 4 times & hung out after a show even. They're a fun time.
Amazing video, goes with the meaning of the lyrics, just some people dont see it lol
This band is the best and listening to their music never gets old just better!
Just saw them at 98 Rockfest, Amalie Arena, Tampa. Great band. Jesse Hasek stepped into the crowd on my shoulder and my 16 yr old daughter was freaking out. I was a bit amazed and sterstruck, even at age 54......lol
This is literally the stoic anthem🤍
I love this song! After all this year I'm still listening this! 😌❤️
taking back what is mine
No doubt!
It's taken a lifetime to lose my way
A lifetime of yesterdays
All the wasted time on my hands
Turns to sand
And fades in the wind
Crossing lines
Small crimes
Taking back what is mine
I'm fine in the fire
I feed on the friction
I'm right where I should be
Don't try and fix me
I'm fine in the fire
I feed on the friction
I'm right where I should be
Don't try and fix me
So lost for so long
To find to my way
I failed to follow
I'm out of place
Crossing lines
Small crimes
Taking back what is mine
I'm fine in the fire
I feed on the friction
I'm right where I should be
Don't try and fix me
I'm fine in the fire

Reland Mc Exactly, right where I should be...
I know right💜😘😍😊😙😚😗😁
Love this band
I'm waitng for them to come to Georgia, maybe, but i won't be able to go until 2015:(
I hope my dad sees this and knows that he's gonna be okay and even if he struggles with an alcohol addiction I will still love him...
Can't believe how long it's been since this song came out and I still LOVE it.
I've never heard this song, but I love it.
Lacie Price hard core 80s hard core rock chick this song has dragged me out of the eighties. I am in the fire feed of the friction fuckin epic.
Maybe you should listen to it sometime ahaha it’s been pretty great!
Seeing you guys 10 years acting as different characters is nuts and awesome. I was laughing through the hole video 🤘😉
Quarantine 2020 and still enjoying 10 Years 🤘❤
This band is unbelievable... Can't stop listening to them... 👍
This band is new to me , l know , whatever . These guys are awesome ! I'm a classic rock fan . But there's so much out there and I want to expand my music knowledge. I was thinking of old stuff but this is cool .😊
Check out Black Pistol Fire. You might like them. a 2 man band.

Des Meyer I absolutely adore this song and I love the video mind u I'm going to watch it again right now lol but it's a timeless song for me
One of the most underrated bands ever and they still killing it can’t wait to see them live again 💯💪
Still loved in 2022 🖤
Don't try to fix me.
Those lyrics are very very very wrong
How do you even hear that?
Holy frigging shit. A song can't have a different meaning to those who hear it? I wasn't quoting the lyrics. I was relating one cool fucking song to the things that happened to me.
i understood instantly..
oldsarge101 greatly done ♥️
Still listening to this in 2019!:). Love this song!🍻🍻😈😈🤘🤘♥♥and can relate to this song!
