This game helped me to discover classic and romantic music. They used masterpieces because they were copyright-free, I know, but still: it's so strong and powerful to hear Beethoven or Dvorak on space battle scenes or dramatic questionning from a human pilot. Thank them for this very, very good artistic decision.

I thought the player character from the first game made it out when the League sealed of the Sol system. The narrator implies it in the ending of the first game.
ChrisG if you listen to the original CW narrator's dialogue and the tone's voice, he sounds as though he made it out and was not trapped on Sol with the Navy. Also the narrator is sounds like a black man. Kron appears to be caucasian.
It wasn't him; the scene where he breaks off is told in the background by the narrator at the height of the Sol campaign. The canonical ending is the one where the League fails and have to seal the wormhole, trapping the Sol System inhabitants , so the narrator is not Kron.
The First Colony Wars game was the best, something about Capital ships fighting it, out and the atmospheric story telling; Epic. The ships on Vengeance felt blocky... and the Imperial Navy wasn't psychopathic enough.
Well they weren't an imperial navy anymore. Three generations have passed since the events of the first game. Remember they were stuck in their own system during that time. These kids grew up in a failed state corrupted by civil war, being taught that the League were a bunch of bloodthirsty terrorists that left them to starve their entire lives. All it took was one charismatic leader to rally the system to fight in the name of freedom. In the end, it was all a lie. Blood was shed for vengeance. If you didn't know, Kron was the nameless pilot you played as in the first game. The final cutscene is referencing the the final mission of the first game where you fought the super titan on Earth. They send you with no backup and you were destined to lose. This game was the consequence that resulted from that failed mission. A disgruntled ace pilot who was betrayed by his tribe and abandoned on the enemy's turf. Quite possibly one of the best sequels ive ever played in my life. Colony Wars ended with Vengeance for me. Red Sun was a disgrace of a Colony Wars title.
The Navy are no longer Napoleonic style generals or Imperial aristocrats. They are proper admirals and officers, determined only by how dedicated and competent they are.

They showed us that our charismatic leader used to be a pilot for the enemy and they betrayed him after he got sent on a sucide mission. They let us connect the dots. At 11:38 and 12:48 Mertins clearly states that "The Father sacrificed Kron in THE final mission against our ancestors" Which one is the final mission that the league took part in? The one against the super titan. They also never reveal the narrator's identity. (compared to this game where they tell you at the start) The narrator couldve been anyone of the countless nameless pilots that you fought alongside in the campaign. They never state that the narrator is specifically tied to the player. So what happens after you normally get shot down? Your escape pod launches. If the narrator states that the league escapes and seals the wormhole right after you get shot down in the final mission, then that first scene of this intro has to be Kron that crash landed on earth and got abandoned on Sol. This game is the consequence of the final mission that you were destined to fail. Its amazing storytelling.
