I just noticed that when the shimmer rat kills the cat, the doctor is truly un-disturbed, but even Silco flinches and has to take a few seconds to recompose himself. He also asks if the boy who uses the shimmer will live. Subtle signs show that he hasn't in fact lost all his humanity--especially compared to the doctor.
True, but you could also interpret that "Will he live" line as Silco not wanting to waste man power. Because look how easily Vi dusted all of his non shimmer henchmen.
So…the weird thing is, I know Silco raises his voice. He shouted at Jinx when she killed those enforcers. But even then, he always seemed quiet to me. He always seemed like someone who just wasn’t capable of getting loud when he was angry, or if he was, he just didn’t. In his final scene, when he yells at Vi, he isn’t full-on shouting, but every word still hits as if he was. He still expresses emotion, but his changes in tone and pitch are so subtle that you have to really listen for them. And he’s so driven about Zaun, his goals, his vendetta against Vander, and his fatherly love for Jinx. I’ve never seen a character like that unless there was a mental thing going on. Silco is a villain, but he’s still stable. And I…love this so much. I hope he comes back in the show as one of Jinx’s kinder hallucinations.
