Hmmm "During episodes of stress incontinence, an increase in intra-abdominal pressure (eg, from laughing, sneezing, coughing, climbing stairs) raises pressure within the bladder to the point where it exceeds the urethra's resistance to urinary flow. Leakage ceases when bladder pressure again falls below urethral pressure." And the reason why in normal ppl incr. intra-abd. pressure doesn't lead to leakage is bcs normal ppl have normal pelvic floor mm support/ normal mobility of urethra = normal resistance?
Caters Carrots Various factors from the pregnancy, including the gravid uterus, lead to weakening of the pelvic floor musculature. This results in urethral hypermobility. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3671107/
Caters Carrots The cause of urge urinary incontinence is overactivity of the bladder muscle. In pregnancy, it's due to pressure on the bladder. They are both frequency, but in pregnancy it's not technically urge urinary incontinence. The medicines we give to women with urge incontinence would not work in a pregnant woman.
There are a few factors in relieving bladder control problems at home. One plan I found that succeeds in merging these is the Nilah Control Plan (google it if you're interested) definately the most helpful resource i've seen. look at all the interesting information .

I thought the pressure the baby puts on the bladder during pregnancy would cause urge urinary incontinence.

Yeah but it also leads to increased frequency and waking up to go to the bathroom. That is just like urge urinary incontinence.
