Your bikes looks fantastic! My first Gold Wing was a new burgundy 84 GL1200 Interstate. Just a base model. Next was a new 94 GL1500 LE two tone white/gray exactly like yours. This bike I installed those same Rivco air horns. Very nice. I’ve always appreciated the backlit handlebar switches for night riding. The 18+ Gold Wings are amazing and have an automotive decibel level horn, eliminating the need for the air horn.
My first Goldwing was a 2000 SE. it was a great bike. I wish I had kept it. I later had an 09 and now have a 21 DCT Tour. But the 1520 was a really nice machine.
Great job as always, Thanks to all your wonderful tech tips and pictures our 99SE hasn't seen a shop in over 10 years, and now our newest 99 never will! Thanks
@@GoldwingDocs I might add, 10 years ago was when a Florida Honda dealer told us our bike was too old to work on????? With all of your posts and a $40 shop manual, we never looked back!
I am going to look at a 2000 GL1500 that looks identical to yours. I’ve watched many of your videos and you’ve give me a little extra confidence that I CAN and should try the motorcycle. I’m also REALLY hoping you do not sell your 2000 GL1500 anytime soon so I can continue to see your content on the bike. I’d be sad to hear of you selling yours and getting a 5th or 6th gen, although I wouldn’t blame you.
Hi Scott, I like your introduction to your Goldwing 1500. I particularly interested to know how you install the spotlight behind the forks (round pair). Hope u could share some pictures of the installment and actual placement of the lights. Thanks in advance.
Hello, I like very much your mods, can I have more détails on how you built your onboard computer, hardware and software ? I would very like to build one for my 1200 venture royale Thanx
You can see more details on the Bike PC here: ua-cam.com/video/WjYMwlB-TuU/v-deo.html And if you want to build your own: ua-cam.com/video/CDjntt-S7xQ/v-deo.html
Wow..... as a gadget guy and a lighting/lights guy.... just wow... need more lights lol...but a freaking bike computer.... you have to be running at least 2 aux ports...one for sat and one for "aux" AND ported sat audio into intercom... Sooooooooo much to take in and sooo much done to do that!
Yes - I figured as long as I was wiring an Aux port into the radio (with a relay switch controlled by the Bike PC) I might as well add a second one as well, giving me two switchable AUX ports instead of just one. I also built a ground loop isolator into my aux port interface, to avoid any noise getting in from misbehaving audio sources.
Thinking about making this a kit? ;) just picking up a absolutely mint 91 in the same color! Every one of your mods are done for utility and make sense for it!
I noticed you have different case guards your highway pegs are attached to. Mine is a '97 and the bars curve out in the back making it hard to even reach the pegs let alone use them comfortably. Do you know if other GW bars will fit or of good aftermarket bars?
They changed the style of those bars in 1998. Either will fit, so if you can find a set of the new style case guards, they will bolt in place of your older style ones.
Fairly simple: I used the factory mount, stuck to the fairing/speaker face with very strong 3M VHB double-sided foam tape: www.amazon.com/3M-Scotch-5952-VHB-Tape/dp/B01BU7038A/ref=sxts_sxwds-bia-wc-drs1_0?tag=goldwingdocs-20
any advise on how you installed the cell phone chargers? I was thinking about installing a 12v female plug in each glove box... not sure where to source. (I'd like to tap into a wire so that it will power down when I turn off the bike.) Like... I dunno.. I was thinking one of the side lights in the front? Ground to chassis?
What a fantastic job you did on the extras. I want so much to buy a computer as you had, to mount on mine. Where can i order one? Thanks for all the inspiration and tips and guideline to take best care of our pride GW 1500...
@@GoldwingDocs Wow! Indeed you must be the one spoken of, the one whose zip-ties I am not wortthy to clip. Any tips on how I could go about building my own? I'm guessing you've gone open-source? Any hints as to hardware, OS, interfacing with the bike etc would be helpful. If it's proprietary, I'll completely understand.
wow! I have the same bike with no mods. I feel like it already has enough buttons. LOL That GPS thing is pretty cool though, I mean, I am not a Phone person, never had one/ so I have an atlas in the side compartment. My left control buttons are sticking, I cannot seem to get my emergency lights to go off all the way. I get tit to 1 blinker and then it goes back to full emergency. I starting to think moisture in there is causing it. I have not found a resolution yet though. You said this bikes a 2000 Model. Mine is a 99 50th anniversary, I wonder if yours is just a late in the year bike and is really 1999. I mean 2000 is 51 years.
Those sticky buttons are usually caused by the lubricating grease Honda had put in there during manufacture. It solidifies with age, and causes the mechanisms to not work correctly. Spraying it out with a plastic-safe solvent is the best (easiest) fix.
I lost or someone took my headlight protec tor. Can anyone let me know where I get buy anotherone. i have looked all over the place and I do not want the ones with suction cups. I prefer velcro. Thanks
Dude... that program though. How?! Did you make a video? I'm about to buy my first goldwing... 91 anniversary. After seeing your vid... I'm going to feel jealous
Can't you slow down, focus the camera and go through the switches and locations one by one? The digital dash and the Corbin seat are not of interest to me. Sorry but I thought it was going to be more thorough and the camera would be focused.
I know this is an old post, but BRAVO!!! ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!
More electronics than the space shuttle. Nice! I love it.
Good job putting those extras in and keeping thr look clean.

They are brackets made by Markland, which unfortunately are no longer in business. I'll see what I can do to cover them.
Top Shelf work by the way... bravo
Awesome setup and bike
Sounds like you really like the 1500. It was tough but you talked me into taking the 1100 off your hands free of charge.
This is a reaaaaally old video, I sold my GL1100 ten years ago! :)
Last question......for this vid😁... can the alternator be upgraded for more lights, stereo, & heated items?
100%. Aftermarket alternators normally have much higher output capacity.

Virtually all of them, yes. There are small changes from year to year, but the vast majority of parts will fit any year 1500.

what are the driving lights you used???
I’m wondering the same thing what brand and size and how much light do they put out
very nice
The speedo and tach looks exactly like a 90's era Civic dash.
Yes, both for a very good reason. I used to have a PC800 as well! There are a LOT of parts in common between the GL1500 and PC800.
Nice brother

There is an "accessory" terminal in your fuse box that you can tap into, that is actually designed exactly for this sort of thing.

how did you get all that inputs into the computer?
I designed the circuitry to handle the various sensors. Check out: goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=53687
Is 3000€ enough😎?
Are these things automatic or Manny? It has cruise control
Throws me off
Definitely manual. You can have cruise control on manual shifted vehicles (my car has it). It just disengages cruise when you pull in the clutch.
no high beam flash ?????????????
'Outlet + increase' at 10:10 seems to be wrong information.
Just press 'OUTLET' (Key in P)to start pumping.
sweet
What kind of gas mileage are you getting with the 1500?
If I'm relatively gentle at a consistent speed over long distances, around 45 mpg. If I'm ripping it around the twisties, closer to 30 mpg.
Thank You, bout what i get with my Triumph.
How do you Operate the CB
There are switches on the left handlebar that operate it - channel up/down, mute, transmit
I need led for my bike
I enjoyed the information
But your camera work made me dizzy, next time recruit a cameraman & you do the tour guide part

too much crap on the bike. Keep it simple, is a fricken motorcycle!
Disagree! Goldwings lend themselves to being dressed up. Some do overdo it but not this one imo.
