Thanks a lot, I go to a music focused school and everyone plays and Instrument. I Play the Cello since 7 years now and I‘m okay but your Videos really helped me improve my playing and it makes fun again :)

The best moment in the video was 2:36. Now seriously, thank you very much, this is so helpful!

My beginner cello teacher always told me, "use your ears, not your eyes". She never let her students put tape or stickers on her instruments.

I just started playing the cello. And I love it! Cello has been my favorite instrument for at least 20 years!
It's still pretty tough. But there is definitely progress. Yay!
Purely out of curiosity… What I would love to know, is how can I try vibrato? It's still a long way until I should practice that. But when I try, I have a hard time combining bow movement and the wiggling of the left hand.

    Great video. Thank you.
The cello is the instrument I wish to learn next, once I can get one.
I've been playing classical music on a keyboard for two years now. I know a piano would be better for me but it's out of my financial reach.
The lower notes may cause me some difficulty in terms of intonation. That is where I have some hearing loss, in the lower ranges.
How much vibration can you feel when you play the cello?
I have a mix of hearing loss and auditory processing disorder. I do wear hearing aids.

5:01 my cello colleagues would tell me to center my vibrato in order to play in tune.

Hi Hannah! There are 2 different tunes I am playing in this video: 1) Beethoven: 5th Symphony 2nd mouvement and later on in the video I play the 2) Elegy by Gabriel Fauré! Hope that helps! Glad you liked it 🙂

Interesting that I came across this after having just watched your video on that piece.
I find the biggest problem in intonation is the extended position. The whole step between 1 and 2 is almost always too small. For this reason I begin this excerpt with 3 1 4 instead of 2 1 4. There is no particular problem reaching a major third between 1 and 4, but 2 1 rarely yields a perfect perfect fourth, or an appropriately expressive major second. The problem seems to persist even in my professional students as a certain kind of laziness develops over time and repeated usage. Did you notice that your Ab is always different when it is approached from the low Eb 2 than from its scalar approaches? .... or the difference between the Fs in the G F Eb passage: 4 2 1 on the D string and the the 2 4 2 F on the G string in the scalar passage? The D string fingering leads to a lower F and the G string passage is perfect. In extended position it is only 1-2 that is extended, and this is not sufficiently emphasized in pedagogy as far as I can hear.
