i want to kiss all the people of this team... the talks i have seen for the past two months since i have subscribed is just wonderful... i am sure this i wll be a good one as well... please keep going and be unbiased, truthful, prudent....
I have some doubts, 1. Why government is doing business? Why Govt. is spending it's time and resources on these kind of activities rather than indulge in activities promoting a conducive atmosphere (if you look at the stat-up mission funding structure, if it really is as mentioned in KSUM website, will find it pathetic). 2. Wouldn't this be obsolete (except for very high speed operations) by widespread penetration and adoption of Starlink and similar technologies. 3. Isn't the infrastructure spending quite huge to break-even in short term? Wouldn't the laying of additional overhead cables make our streets look more gross? 4. Why can't we have a holistic development plan & design and a department to coordinate and oversee it?
It is a sheer waste of money and not viable. Another white elephant like KSRTC and Kseb in the making. BSNL had already connected All the schools and government officees even in the remote areas. The connections to BPL families etc. are provided by the local cable operators. With a fraction of the total amount spent on the project if given to them free connections can be provided from the existing network operators itself.
Clearly for kickbacks . Buying bandwidth from bsnl and using kerala vision for last mile . Using all this much needed capital which could have been deployed on health care or education is being wasted on a needless endeavour
1. Building Public infrastructure is the duty of the government. I would agree with you if the project is about selling soaps and creams. It obvious that building roads is thr dutybof the govt. Internet connection is the highway of the future. And building it should be seen as any other infra project. 2. Starlink cannot replace physical broadband. 3. Spending on infra is much better than spending on freebies. 4. This Iagree.
The only disconnect I have with the senior IAS officer is that the KFONE project is not going to be commercially viable . It’s going to be another white elephant, why does the government want to be in business??? It’s replicating the same infrastructure that the private players have created and it’s buying bandwidth from the private players only . Since it’s a Government entity it’s pushing its own department to use it . Instead of wasting public money over KFONE it could have used the same for making KSMART more efficient and workable. Digitisation of Government records is a big task . I think the priority is somewhat skewed over here
True . He is the CEO n trying to justify it . wish the money was spend in the right place. He even mentioned SRIT . So kfone exists so that lot of sub contractors linked to govt can keep minting money .
It’s an public auditable firm so u can file complaint. It’s for the common people and it’s ur choice to select which operator u need. But it’s like to keep pricing to stabilise and affordable to common man and to give connections to rural areas where private players don’t give connections. Try to understand that
Why KFON? Quite Dumb idea. Look at Kseb itself, They can't make it work in a profitable manner, then How could you be sure, you could make this profitable, with airtel, vodafone, jio as your competitors.

Single answer. Politics is big business.
