Great review Kenny! That is a great option if you are looking for a smaller SUV for sure. Totally agree with you to go with the XT for the extra horses! Hope that you are doing great!
its probably safer with the 2.5 engine... turbocharge break easily if not taken care well... and subaru engines arent made to handle the stress... wilderness stronger transmission is probably better with the turbo.
Thanks for doing such a thorough job going over the features. I’m looking at buying an Onyx XT sometime this year and it was awesome to see what it has.
We bought the onyx edition outback but not the wilderness trim. We do live there vehicle, it handles great on the road, and all the safety features are kinda cool. Most of our family have older Subarus mostly foresters But we fell in love with the Outback and moreover the cool looking onyx edition in a cool looking grey color.👍
Nice job on the review. I appreciate your focus on details, and walk through the infotainment system. A few questions. Since you called this "the sportiest Outback", have they done anything to the Onyx Edition (vs the other XT trim levels, not including the Wilderness) to upgrade performance in any way? I know you mentioned the 4.11 rear end, and I'm pretty sure the Wilderness gets different gearing, but is this different in any way? I have a '14 Forester XT, and with the turbo 2.0 on that, they also give bigger wheels, tires, brakes, and a more sport tuned suspension. Back when I bought that, I drove the 2.5, and the difference in suspension was noticeable. I'm looking for a replacement for my XT, and drove an Outback Touring XT a couple months back. I noted the same thing - a bit of a lag when you punch it, and then it takes off. My Forester is a bit like that, BUT, if you put it into Sport Sharp (via the conveniently located button located where the steering wheel heater is on this Onyx), throttle response is mapped for a much more aggressive tip-in, and the lag is largely removed. It keeps revs in the high torque range longer, and "learns" that you are hot footing, so if you let off, it doesn't immediately drop to the most economical RPM. Is I think about it, I wonder if the 2.4 turbo is larger and slower to spool up too. I think the Outback XT has a single "sportier" mode, but it is in the infotainment system (not handy at all). I thought the Touring XT was a bit mushier handling than my Forester as well. I didn't walk away from my Touring XT test drive feeling like this was the answer I was seeking, so I'm wondering/hoping, maybe the Onyx has some tuning that the others don't. Lots of nice features on this one though.
25 limited owner. Perfect car. Very underrated. Super pleased. ONLY issue, all leather seats should be ventilated. My peev on any car w leather and non ventilated. They aren’t the only one. My XSE Camry, same 🫤. If you live in the south, you understand. Not a deal breaker for me tho. Car itself makes up for one flaw. 💪🏽
I just traded my Crosstrek Wilderness for this down here in Hampton Roads. Dealer has 0% APR. My CTW rate was high (bought it six months ago) so that payment is just about the same. I gotta say, the Outback XT is miles above the Crosstrek. My goodness!
The information about the LED upgrade is inaccurate. The LED upgrade is only for the vanity mirror lights. The Onyx comes standard with LEDs everywhere else in the interior except the vanity lights.
I’ve enjoyed so far for 8 months. Gas mileage is pretty crappy! 22 city maybe 23 hwy all I’ve mustered. The 23 Wrx before had better fuel economy. What irks me is no remote start on key fob and they expect you to pay for starlink app after 6 months. Turns me off pretty bad for a 2024 vehicle
Brilliant review Kenny and this car is my daily.
Thanks brother

Definitely have to go the XT route
This most thorough review I've ever seen. Thank you for your hard work.
Great review, and telling us about the Onyx package.
I really like the Outback.
Me too. Thank you
Excellent review. Love the color! This would be the Outback trim I would get!!!
I have a 2023 Outback Onyx 2.5L (not turbo) and love it. Miss the extra power only sometimes.
its probably safer with the 2.5 engine... turbocharge break easily if not taken care well... and subaru engines arent made to handle the stress... wilderness stronger transmission is probably better with the turbo.
Excellent job Kenny.
Awesome review. Thanks so much. Always wanted a review to explain all the items in the interior
Thank you!! Thinking about buying one and this helped a lot!! ☺️
Happy to help!
Thanks for doing such a thorough job going over the features. I’m looking at buying an Onyx XT sometime this year and it was awesome to see what it has.
Very informative! Thank you.
The Onyx XT is the best Outback I have ever had❤! It rocks!
Kenny looovveesss those tilting headrests!
Yes I do!😂
Nice review. Thank you !
Nice review. No wireless Apple/android CarPlay or wireless Bluetooth/hotspot?
Nice. My 80 yr old pal just bought a new crosstrek loaded.thanks. thumbs up. Peace bro.
How do they like it?
Loves it.
The rear windows also have a safety feature if you forget to use the lock it won't strangle your dog or kids.
Onyx is my favorite Pokemon. I'm sold just from the name.
👌🏼👊🏼
703 Represent! NoVA for life!
I am buying one and saving the highlander extra money to travel on side roads too!
Sounds like a good plan
Awesome review! Thank you for going into detail about all the features in the interior. I just bought one tonight.
Thank you for the wonderful review.
This vehicle is very well outfitted. Your preparation , knowledge & presentation is excellent!
Does the Limited version / Harman sound also come with CD player ?
No
@@703Speed Tku. I really appreciate your very in depth reviews 👍
Only the Touring does

The started seats stay cooler than leather so you may not sweat as much it’s breathable and more durable I think it looks great too!
Onyx is my favorite outback best bang for the buck
Agreed
I've decided to dedicate my life to helping you achieve your goal.

Has anyone heard of the reliability of the turbo? I like the idea of the synthetic leather, I wonder if you stick to them in the heat.
Love the color too perfect size since now we are 2 people and 1 dog
Sounds like it

No memory sears?
No
@@703Speed Well, that sucks.
That's why we got a Limited. No memory seats was a deal-breaker for us, and a head-scratcher in general.
The information about the LED upgrade is inaccurate. The LED upgrade is only for the vanity mirror lights. The Onyx comes standard with LEDs everywhere else in the interior except the vanity lights.
I was wondering do the lights flash continuely around the speedometer and the other big circle or is that from the camera?? Thank you
No haha, that’s just picking up because of the cameras frame rate. Can’t see the flashing in person
Thanks I was like well if that is a thing thats a deal breaker for me!! 😂😂
This is very good looking in my opinion. Much better than the Wilderness edition.
Agreed
Nah, the Wilderness is way better and more capable.
This engine would be perfect with manual gearbox. Great review as always. Greetings
I owned a 2021 subaru outback limited the drivers side seat has already cracked and torn. Cheap seat material
Hmm. That definitely sucks
I love how you give a free weather report in each of your videos.😅
😅
Worst stock tires on any car; best upgrade on outbacks is the tires.

Wagons 2024
Paddle shifters with a CVT transmission is ridiculous!
You’d be surprised at how many people use them lol
Of course it's super ugly
