    I'm literally only 10 min in but the most important thing is when she said they think latinos only care about immigration. YES. That's what I've been saying lately. I'll look up Telemundo or Univision for my mom so they can talk abt Trumps executive actions on pipelines, women's rights, etc. But all they talk abt is immigration. Like yes that's important, but we have other fundamental rights too.

    Your vote matters, but not as much as you think. The electoral college managed to make some votes more valuable than others (ehem Republicans)

    I don’t understand why she says that she wants change but helps put people in charge who keep Latinos down. She forgets that she comes from Democrat run County because ALL Latinos are supposed to vote Democrat, you’re not original! Stop “Hispandering “ and really make a change to help our community!

      It’s hard to believe that women, specially hispanic, are abused by their husbands. They don’t know their are being abused . It’s sad. Respect women ✅

    Assimilation doesn't mean you have to reject your culture or forget where you came from. Learning English is a sign of assimilation. And truthfully, you are WAY assimilated into American culture, and it's all good. Lack of assimilation is what keeps Latinos from succeeding and keeps us outsiders. I really respect you, but I think you need to think about this more.

    • @jonathanlife5304
      @jonathanlife5304 7 років тому

      Virginia V. I'm sorry, but you have it all wrong. The definition of assimilation is removing one culture in favor of another.

    • @virginiav.1172
      @virginiav.1172 7 років тому

      Jonathan Guzman Respectfully, I believe assimilation is a process and a continuum, not an either/or deal. You can choose what cultural characteristics to keep or give up. Lots of people behave or speak one way when part of the dominant culture, but a different way with friends or family. I like burgers, but I love tamales too.

    • @jonathanlife5304
      @jonathanlife5304 7 років тому +1

      Virginia V. What you're describing is not assimilation. It's called cultural attribution. The definition of assimilation is removing one culture in favor of another.
