It's almost like their middle brother was the conscience of the group, and him leaving the ranch is when they started making trouble for people, so when they see his face they can't help but feel like he's there himself, crying because of all the bad things they've done.
"I can't get anything done, when you gaze at me with that mask on." A subtle indication how wearing it prevents the Gorman Brothers from attacking Cremia's milk truck.
Gorman's story is so sad. He gave up life on his family farm with his brothers to be an entertainer. His inspiration was Lulu's mother singing the Ballad of the Windfish at the Carnival of Time years ago, and he thought by performing, he'd one day be able to meet her and by extension her daughter Lulu. Early on the first day he hears from Madame Aroma that the show's been cancelled because of Lulu losing her voice, as well as the falling moon. The performance of his career, being able to be the opening act for the daughter of the woman that inspired him to risk it all in show business, was torn away from him three days shy of the event. And he spends the rest of the three days drowning his sorrows in the bar and sleeping in, refusing to tell the five performers that the event was cancelled while they practice away, not knowing that it would be for nothing (although Guru-Guru suspects he is hiding something). Gorman is seemingly punished for following a nobler path, while his brothers are rewarded for sabotaging their competition. In a sort of poetic irony, his inability to accept that the Carnival and the troupe's performance he had worked so hard for would be cancelled, and somewhat cruelly hiding this fact from the rest of the troupe and remaining in town while they practice, is exactly what allowed it to happen in the end.
The poor man has no future from there on, unless Link intervenes and sets things right. He was doing his best to keep a clean slate and not get caught up in lawlessness, just like his two cowardly brothers who use Romani Ranch as fly paper for everything they do bad. Now his dreams are torn to shreds with all the mayhem going on in clock town, the Zora singer’s eggs missing, so she can no longer sing, the unwise decision to postpone the show from the mayor’s wife, his drink problems kicking in and his longing for a better future have all but escalated into chaos. He has no courage left and his employees are missing on their work, so the Gorman’s mask side quest isn’t such a harsh a task as one might expect, he would be free of his drunken stupidity and would try to get his act together with his stage crew soon after Link cures him of madness with the concerto of Ballad of the Wind Fish.
@craiglanyon7752 Lulu's eggs and carnival cancelled are the consequences of Scullkid mischief. After Majora's Mask is defeated, the giants fix everything. So everyone is happy after that, and Gorman can do his stuff
@@VendettaAllan You have to wear it before the segment starts, since you cannot do that during the encounter. The Gorman brothers will follow, but will not attack.
In the original game, getting them to leave Cremia alone is the only thing the mask is good for, but you can't even use it for that until you've already completed that sidequest. So it serves no real purpose besides maybe helping you get that sweet sweet Cremia hug a little quicker on repeat playthroughs. Still, I sometimes do a, "Make everyone happy" playthrough after I've unlocked all the masks and stuff, and I'll include keeping them from attacking. Seems like the Gormon brothers will be happier if they both don't try to do evil and get pumped full of arrows.
That's exactly what I do before beating a 100% file, and I didn't know about this. Still, it doesn't exactly help solve the issue of Cremia being on an inconvenient schedule, sure I'll save your sister, but the milk is *your* problem now.
Found this glorious little interaction on my own, but it's always stuck with me. They're villains, but they were proud and worried for their struggling relative. This game's characters are just so human...
I always loved this. How this mask's only real purpose is to just reveal a little bit of depth about these two guys, that for as bad as they are they still love their brother, and how they deep down envy that he's gone straight and feel some remorse for how they've just spent their lives being petty thugs.
People say the Circus Leader's mask is useless, when that couldn't be further from the truth. No, it doesn't grant you a tangible reward, but it does give you further insight, however small, into the world of Termina and its denizens. That is worth everything.
Those two are immoral jerks for what they're doing to Cremia's ranch, but then you see this side of them, missing their brother who left because he wasn't good enough to help take care of the ranch. Got to love that human element this game has.
I want all these masks back in BOTW 2 with their magic abilities. Imagine bringing a tear to your enemies faces or having Ganondorf dance behind you while play music with that cucco mask. 😂

Based on their dialogue, I figured that they were always crooks. The middle brother left them explicitly because he was sick of it
They are just bullies, the way they have treated Cremia. I am just so glad those two apes got their comeuppance in the end.
