I have been using this bike for almost 5 months now and have done quite a lot number of long rides. So here is my experience. The bike does not feel that it lacks power in almost any part of the trip. The heating of the bike is not even in existence for almost 150-160kms in a stretch. Fuel economy is around 43-48 kmpl on highway. But, for sure it depends upon the the riding style and the weight that has been put on the bike. Problems such as backache and wrist ache could be minimized with regular workout sessions. I do not want to compare it with other bikes because every bike has its own set of pros and cons. Overall, it has been a good riding experience only with two exceptions of low visibility of headlamps and lack of ABS at high speeds.
I ride a rc390 and when i rode the new r15 it felt good and the engine refinement is really great. Its good even for cities as it doesnt heat up like the ktm .i dont complain about the riding position but for most of the people its really a problem

getting my own v4 in couple of days and it all started here with this video a year back. immediately rented v3 for a day and instantly fell in love with it and knew this is the bike to get. just to be sure test rode few other bikes and nothing came close (it did like mt v2 or rc 390 but i have a sweet spot for this bike). the handling is just out of this world, corners are a delight to attack and i am hooked on this bike's forgiving low-end with superb high end performance. just sad that yamaha are not interested in releasing other enthusiast bikes like r3 and r7 (please let the rumors be true about r7 coming soon to india). until then this will be my track and touring partner. thanks powerdrift for this video, i found this during the lowest moment in my life and it has been one of few reason to wake up and find motivation to work towards something. cheers :)

Complaining about wrist pain and back pain, try a 600 or 1000 supersports, you will know what pain really means! Tall riders would not have much problems with any kind of pain with the R15! And it gets better with time as the body adapts the sitting composure. And if pain is a concern, stay away from anything with a sportsbike tag, go with a naked, tourer or a cruiser and stop complaining like illiterates. The price is high no doubt, but that tag comes with the amount of technology put in the frame and the engine, seriously people go with a basic engine with a comfortable posture and stop looking at the 'R' branded Yamaha bikes, MT or the FZ would be more feasible...

@Sumedh Mahekar Really ?? English is the second language for majority of India and most spoken language after Hindi. No doubt Yamaha makes amazing motorcycles! The bike looks way ahead of its time.!! But I would prefer comfort over sporty aggression any day! For at the end of the day when you ll go back to your bed you definitely gonna regret that back pain. FZ250 would be my bet.
It's price bothers me. 1.4 lacs on Road here in Ludhiana Punjab. That's like too much for 19hp bike with No ABS. God! RS 200 looks bad, R15 makes ur back ache, RC 200 is a pain in the a**, zmr is a joke, a bad one and Gixxer lacks a top end. This segment needs a saviour
Uramesh Sanjowa lol, design it's subjective..even I feel RS 200 looks like too many things are going on like it's more thn enough too many cuts and stuff. I don't hate it But can't say it's the best.
I think a "plastic tank" is not a quality major setback, it's just a cover and I think some of the big-expensive bikes featured it too. the plastic tank cover actually have a good advantage. in case of broken or accident, you just need to replace the cover (that protect the actual gas tank inside), not the entire gas tank unit so it's will definitely cheaper. in Indonesia this bike featured with USD front forks, the first and only in it's class, thus made it special amongst 150cc sportbikes. not to mention the VVA and slipper clutch, relatively rare on 150cc segment.
Sad to see Yamaha do a below average job in terms of quality. My FZ25 is definitely a step or two below the FZ16, but the design and engine won me over. By the way, why don't you do a comparo of the V3 and the R15S - it's something that no mainstream magazine seems to be covering. Is the older design still competent enough - I believe it has a superior build as well.
@@pranavdivekar912 you feel pain riding it? I'll be doing 400+km rides sometimes and daily commute will it be okay? Or should I go for gixxer250sf or fz25
In short: Smooth engine(not buttersmooth but ok) , powerful bike especially on city . But sporty riding posture aiding to backache , wrist pain etc... on long rides , uncomfortable pillion seat (better forget u have one , useless though not absolutely ), no grab rail , no ABS , bit overpriced . Conclusion: Made for only power-hungry boys as an entry level sports bike with compromise on comfort & practicality.
ok i still don't understand yamaha has given 6speed gear box for r15 and 5speed gear box for fz25 ... why so??? everyone complaints that fz25 needs that extra gear 😪
Yamaha has been clear when they marketed fz25 just as a high capacity commuter. Its not a street fighter or a naked sportbike like MT series. Thats why the less power, 5 speed gear box and commuterish ergonomics.
yamaha should look into that.. coz riding fz 25 at 100kmph really begs for that extra gear.. i juss hope with abs as standard in 2019 there is something for this also...
U must have an additional scooter or bike to feel relieved from the back and wrist pain u get from R15, Everyday drive on R15 will make u feel jealous when u see someone comfortable on a scooter, so I use it on alternate days, fun, sportiness and comfort and yes extra money too🤣 this is so comfortable for me😜
Nothing wrong with Mr. Painter. But wow, this video is the perfect example of Indian automotive journalists going- aur simple banaooo aur simple banaooo sabko samaj me ana chaiye. I felt like this video was just like going through a showroom brochure, with added video effects.
First of all CONGRATULATIONS powerdrift for 1 million subscribers I have been watching this since 20k subs and a special THANK YOU for featuring my COMMENT in this episode I'm so happy and finally YES r15v3 is my sports bike I have been using it from a month and that's not 130 top speed I reached to 142
I'd be more interested in a naked Street fighter with this VVA engine and the slipper clutch. Comfortable yet sporty enough for day to day commutes. I wonder why Yamaha doesn't focus on making one when they have such a sweet engine, considering how successful the kTm Duke 200 has been. And with Yamaha being Yamaha, there wouldn't be any reliability issues as well. A naked motorcycle would mean less price too.. P.S: I'd give an extra like to the video for the "A sports bike with 450 km range??? Chai pi lo.." comment. Varun isn't called the thought scripter for nothing..
It's a track machine and MaShahAllah a real head Turner. But if you are someone who wants a bike for the city and highway then go with the gixxer or gixxer sf because it's performance is better in the city and gixxer is easy to handle fast yet sporty handing.
5"7 55kg R15 v.3 owner here. I've covered about 3700 kms. Currently in Pune. You know how bad the traffic can get here. I get an average of 25 kmpl. The fan turns on almost two minutes into bad traffic and it starts straining the bike especially when crawling in 1st gear. But once it starts moving.. you just fall in love with the way she handles. post 4500 rpm people turn their heads to find where the sweet bike music comes from. My bike comfortable cruises at 45 kmph in 6th gear. Reasonable service charges. Brakes could've been better. Daily commute in a position like that isn't easy. Like Varun said, backaches come and go (also wrist, elbow and shoulder pain) You just get used to it and will soon find that sweet spot where its most comfortable. I love my bike. Especially after beating most 200cc bikes available in the market. Also I touched 150 with 87 octane petrol. Imagine what more I could achieve with a higher octane ;)
Nice review but that's not how engines work. You don't HAVE to get better performance due to higher octane rating. It all depends on what the engine was designed for. And I'm pretty sure an r15 wasn't designed with high octane fuel in mind. Read the manual.
varad4444 I’ve tried different octane fuels. Highest I’ve used is power 99. There’s a noticeable amount of difference in acceleration. I couldn’t do a top speed run on power 99 yet but I’ll soon.
@@prathamshukla1280 not my reason for choice though, I kinda like the full single plate fairing and the more meaty tail section of the S variant. Pillion, comfort aside, it just looks better to me than the fairing on v2 and the highly overhung tail section of the v2. Also, the R15s closely resembles the R1. Edit: Not to mention that the S variant is actually more comfortable than v2 for riding alone.
Take off the saree guard, get steel braided brake line from any other Indian bike, new brake calipers and a cheap master cylinder. All of it for just Rs. 10K more.

ok i still don't understand yamaha has given 6speed gear box for r15 and 5speed gear box for fz25 ... why so??? everyone complaints that fz25 needs that extra gear 😪
Simple explanation: More torque means taller gear ratios and lesser gears n vice versa. 😉
Yamaha has been clear when they marketed fz25 just as a high capacity commuter. Its not a street fighter or a naked sportbike like MT series. Thats why the less power, 5 speed gear box and commuterish ergonomics.
yamaha should look into that.. coz riding fz 25 at 100kmph really begs for that extra gear.. i juss hope with abs as standard in 2019 there is something for this also...
its gud for daily commute but many people will use fz25 for touring as well..
Don't compare with fz25 just because it have 100 cc additional.
U must have an additional scooter or bike to feel relieved from the back and wrist pain u get from R15, Everyday drive on R15 will make u feel jealous when u see someone comfortable on a scooter, so I use it on alternate days, fun, sportiness and comfort and yes extra money too🤣 this is so comfortable for me😜
Maybe the Honda cbr150r will make us feel better😅
Honda CBR does both!
@@amanwalikar4642 Sad part is its not available anymore ☹️ & Honda wants you to buy a scooter 😡
Nothing wrong with Mr. Painter.
But wow, this video is the perfect example of Indian automotive journalists going- aur simple banaooo aur simple banaooo sabko samaj me ana chaiye. I felt like this video was just like going through a showroom brochure, with added video effects.

Can you guys tell us the soundtrack you've used?
Please..😅
Did you get the soundtrack name?
@@heinzmuthu1973 no buddy..let me know if u find.
First of all CONGRATULATIONS powerdrift for 1 million subscribers I have been watching this since 20k subs and a special THANK YOU for featuring my COMMENT in this episode I'm so happy and finally YES r15v3 is my sports bike I have been using it from a month and that's not 130 top speed I reached to 142
your top speed is a SPEEDO indicated one and theirs a TRUE TOP SPEED VBOX tested
I got 49/lt in city and 51 in highway. Just love it.
That's amazing!
It's Not Just A Bike .... It's Life Of College Boys ....Like Me ......
kiltz Haokip.. why are you lying ? Where do you ride, Manipur or other states ? Even my brand new TVS Excel Heavy Duty don't give that Mileage.
Please make videos in English only
PowerDrift - We want similar video for BS 6 R15 V3 ❤️
It's a track machine and MaShahAllah a real head Turner. But if you are someone who wants a bike for the city and highway then go with the gixxer or gixxer sf because it's performance is better in the city and gixxer is easy to handle fast yet sporty handing.
Getting this baby soon ❤️🙈
R15 V3 owners hit like!!!
Loved the video.
We need ur review on Apache 200 4v Race edition
Yes
Plz dont try to do review in hindhi english review suits u
Ya Ya.. Enough with the chit chat.. Where is the H2?
Just got a v2 few months ago and totally happy with that beautiful machine 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Today Morning I booked R15 v3.
Mar dala re R15. Big fan. From V1 to V3 . All time favorite. Yes Yamaha.
You people didn't even given Apache 310 review which came 8 months back
The reason I love Powerdrift videos is @0:24
5"7 55kg R15 v.3 owner here.
150 kmph, that's cute.
varad4444 I’ve tried different octane fuels. Highest I’ve used is power 99. There’s a noticeable amount of difference in acceleration. I couldn’t do a top speed run on power 99 yet but I’ll soon.
Nobody's Angel sorry I couldn’t reach MotoGP speeds on a 155cc bike sir :p
Even the NS? 🤔
Am i the only one who loves V2 more than V3??
@Himashant Mishra Same Here.... Its Look Is Stunning
Well, I still root for the S variant...
@@mcr0741 People Should be Prefer S Variant Only When they aren't Ride Alone but If You Love To Ride Alone Then V2 Regular is Best For You
@@prathamshukla1280 not my reason for choice though, I kinda like the full single plate fairing and the more meaty tail section of the S variant. Pillion, comfort aside, it just looks better to me than the fairing on v2 and the highly overhung tail section of the v2. Also, the R15s closely resembles the R1.
Edit: Not to mention that the S variant is actually more comfortable than v2 for riding alone.
@@mcr0741 Maybe You Right But I Prefer V2 Anytime, Just Because Of Looks...... And Can You Tell Me How S Variant Is More Comfortable??? I am Curious
Take off the saree guard, get steel braided brake line from any other Indian bike, new brake calipers and a cheap master cylinder. All of it for just Rs. 10K more.
Yes i loved the bike bcpuse i m the fan of R15 series ... And now i have the V3
Booked the Limited Edition. Waiting to get my first Bike. 😇😋😍 It’s really awesome review and the kind of cinematography you done in this video is mind blowing 😘. Keep up the good work. Just now subscribed waiting for more new videos, Good Luck👍🏻.

This is one of the best machines available in india
PD should start giving credits for the music they use!
I want to know which music is this?
Yes, Yeh Hai Hamara Sports Bike...R15 is R15...just amazingly awesome.
My personal opinion i feel the V2 is much better not because i own one but the parts are over exposed in the V3 more gaps can be clearly seen.
Yess dude.. this is going to be my first sports bike....
In a very short time...
Excited af!!!!
Its Me Again ! Thanks man..

What about night vision on r15v3?
Since 2008 , from R15 v1 to v 2.0 now v3. The wait is still on,but someday the wait will end with this baby R1(R15 v3)..❤❤
i just bought thi bad boy nd m loving it .... yamaha nailed it agin
Dude many people are saying that you I'll get a back pain while riding the v3 for a long time .is it true
Nope , I will buy dominar with 35 hp of juice , oh I forget to write dominar also have dual channel ABS
Owe this machine and absolutely loving every bit of it.
No. V3 not a good one. Inferior build quaity , lack of abs, and lack of comfort because of aggressive ride position. Would wait for Gixxer sf 2019. Overall it's not good in practically.
why gixxer 2019 ? Will it be different from current model?
Lol calling track focused bike "Uncomfortable"? Go buy an activa
@@seepranavg yes. It will be more sportier than before to take on Apache 160 4v. better led lights and little bump in power and much fine tuned engine.
@@minnalmurali007 I don't consider bikes below 600 cc track focussed bike. They lack the punch. For most of us going to use it for commute not on tracks.
@@SandipBobade007 so moto3 is a joke??
I feel production wise the RC200 review of 2015 was way better in terms of the content and information for an entry level sportsbike
Nono! Make videos in English 😂
Watching from Nepal💜
Yes bro this is a sports bike and the only one yes Yamaha
D quality of videos are getting bad day by day pd
Just got it yesterday....my back got ruined but enjoyed the gears and ride
Try holding on to the motorcycle with your thighs and heels. That should take the load off your torso.
