- You guys have been asking about this feature for quite a bit. I was able to successfully remove the feature from my X5M and add it back in with BimmerCode. So here it is guys! Anti-dazzle European high beams! I hope it works.
And as always, save a backup before you begin!

Hey Edward, good video on this! Just to clarify since it wasn’t explicitly mentioned, the coding in Bimmercode is not only enabling anti-dazzle high beams, but also the Variable Light Distribution (VLD) feature of the low beam LEDs. VLD changes the beam pattern depending on speed which is why the headlights looks sorta weird below ~32 MPH (50 km/h). Below that speed, it’s a wider beam pattern on the left side.
Thanks again for reaching out! I’m glad to know this works for others!
This is by far the single best mod I have made to my BMW. Traveling cross country at night I can see everything and with them enabled I get nobody flashing their brights at me. I actually get more people flashing brights at me with my low beams on. Traveling on mountain roads at night I’ve never seen more deer and other animals on the side of the road.
This system works and it is truly amazing the difference it makes. I would encourage everyone who has a vehicle with this ability to enable them.
Thanks for posting Eddie!
I’m glad it worked for you! I recently had to drive on some dark back roads and That’s one feature I miss on my F85!
Great video Eddie. Very good instructions and the issues you experienced.
I just did this on my 14 x5 35xi last week thanks to your video . Everything works flawlessly. It’s such a cool feature and I’m glad I have it enabled now . Thank you so much for your awesome videos .
Glad to hear!
Thank you!
Coded my ‘15 F85 and it’s working perfectly. Thanks for making this video.
Glad it helped!
the fog actually shows the feature working great with on coming traffic at 9:40
That's a cool feature to have! These are smart cars indeed!
Hey Ed, just letting you know that the text describing what to change in the video description doesn't match what you showed in the video. Cheers and thanks for taking the time to make these.
Thanks for the tip. I corrected it!
Hey bro, you have a $100k vehicle and bare garage walls... You gotta get that painted. Car deserves it. Lol
I know I know..😞
Awesome video! I did it before on my F86 but I couldn’t stand having that led off.
I agree. I wouldn't say I like that it's off when at a stop, but at least on highway speeds, I don't have to worry about it.
Nicely done dude, just got a 2025 X4 and I'm going to try the codes out, my sale slip says "Decoding for no-dazzle HB - No Charge" so I'm assuming I can enable. Thanks for the guidance!
Another great video thanks Ed! I noticed some others also coded to enable 3073 LaMaster1 > C_HBA_GRHB_ENA > F015_ Highway_Standby_AFS. I wonder if this make any difference I have mine enabled and it seems to function the same as your lights.
Thanks for sharing. I don't have the X5 anymore to verify the differences.
What does this do?
I know this post is a few years old so not sure of I’ll get a reply, but my 2017 x5 has adaptive high beams but it doesn’t have adaptive cruise control or lane keep assist. I’m wondering if this coding will still work without the extra camera used for adaptive cruise and any other hardware that the Sdrive 35i might not have that higher trim levels do.
This is going to be my first MOD on my G82.
I have this feature on my 2015 f10, never thought this is not available in the US 😳 I’m from Germany
For what it's worth, the GFHB and VLD features *cannot* be fully activated in BimmerCode. Your lights do not appear to be functioning correctly because of this. This coding needs to be done via eSys and multiple modules need to be VO coded: BCD_BODY, KAFAS (or FLA), both TMS, and both LHM. Then, depending on year, you will have anywhere from 20 to 80 different parameters to change in either the FLE or LHM ECUs. I'd highly suggest getting eSys setup and coding this feature properly. Something like BimmerUtility will have the cheat codes for it.
I agree and disagree with you. My lights are working perfectly. You also might be right about the limits of BimmerCode. Perhaps the reason why I was successful is because my lights were previously coded via esys. I was able to bring them back to stock and I see if I could code them again. Some people have had success with it with BimmerCode which is why I published the video.
I have been unsuccessful with getting this to work with my F80.
Hi Edward! great video! I just enabled VLD and anti-dazzle (GFHB) following your guidance. The VLD is awesome, but I noticed that sometimes my antidazzle, when on automatic mode, gives me less light than, if the car was on manual settings. That happens with heavier trafic. The beam lowers below license plate of the cars in front. is that something you observe as well? I have LED Adaptive lights in my x5, 2018
What C_HBA_ADAPT_SHUT_ENA does? you mentioned this is optional?
also, is it possible to increase the turn angle of the lights to follow the road better? I've recently driven x5 from 2021 and I was under impresion that those lights were turning more, which improved visibility on curves.
thanks!
I’m not sure what the C_HBA_ADAPT_SHUT_ENA Will do.
I do notice the lowering when the lights are forming the “tunnel” effect.
When it turns off, you should see lights raise and center themselves.
Stock the lights don’t pivot as much. Could be the reflector style of the LED’s.
I drove other cars with projectors and it was noticeable movement.
Can i code my 2015 x5 i35 to get sport +
Why is the c hoa adapt shut ena optional? What does it do?
Ive tried to activate fog lights with high beams. Says its coded, but they still turn off in high beam! Would you have any ideas why that is?!
Awesome video. Thanks again. By the way, when are you gonna paint your garage?
I was supposed to do it this summer but I kept putting it off. It’s on the list for sure!
Champ thanks for the wonderful video.
Have to say this is a very useful video!!!! Will try it to my g11 7 series. Hopefully that will works 😂
Hopefully!
Did it work on g11?
Does this work on the bmw 2016 x6 f16
Great video. I wonder if I can do this on my F95 (LED Laserlights) with the expert mode in Bimmercode?
I checked on the F95. Unfortunately, looks like it’a one of the vehicles that doesn’t have the hardware to support the coding! 😔
@@eddiemcars I think I read where someone using esys can do it.
@@BobsGT235 I hope I’m wrong because it’s a neat feature to have enabled if you can.
Looks to be working to me! Good job!!
Glad it helped!
Hey edward, i noticed today one thing when i rotate my steering wheel, and the headlight is om Auto mode , - its not moving to the left but its moving to right.
That’s normal behavior. It’s to avoid blinding oncoming traffic when making left turns.
Hello Edward. I just checked out your video and coded this feature into my 2018 X5 M, I haven't tested it yet I'm waiting a few hours until it gets dark hear in NY.
I saw you do a similar coding sometime ago that allowed your headlights to point things out that was in or near the road using a laser like beam.
Is this feature available in Beamer code as I've been going camping with the family a lot & I believe it would be very helpful
It may be the same feature, and maybe I explained it wrong. The headlights don’t have the functionality of pointing towards objects.
Duuuuuuude, did you ever do a Traffic Jam Assistant retro fit for the auto steer ?
It's not possible with the M since there isn't a front radar like the F15. I think the new G05 X5's can do it right out of the factory.
My 2020 G01 X3 has the adaptive led headlights and this is exactly what I’m searching for. I’ll give it a try
Let me know how it works. I don't have a G01 to play with at the moment so I’m curious if the coding is similar
@@eddiemcars You ever get any confirmation this works with G builds? Have a G06 I am wanting to try this on.
Any news? My G01 has this feature as well, and I’d love to enable it
@@eddiemcars is there a way for the anti dazzle feature to work at slower speeds because on my dad's x3 f25 it only works above 70kmh, is there a way to make them work at 50kmh?
Oh and the fact the anti-dazzle doesn't work correctly on vehicles without their taillights on sounds like a feature not a bug, lol. Might get their attention...😏
True! Lol. That vehicle had flicking taillight and when it went completely out, the X5 blasted them. I thought I was about to get braked checked 😂
hi Ed, is it a normal that the left bulb led on the driver side in not illuminated at auto mode lights, I have a same problem here in EU ?
Yes. Mine is the same way. Above 25 mph it illuminates or if you switch your lights to ON, it disables the European anti dazzle.
Another great informative video. Edward do you know how to adjust the " blind spot monitor " so that it comes on immediately or at what lowest speed without triggering a fault on the dashboard. I believe the BSM starts working at 35mph. I honestly do not understand the logic behind that. Thank you for any assistance...# BMRLIFE
I’ll have to check again. It was set at 5mph once but I didn’t like it because of the false alerts I was getting from the double turn lanes.
@@eddiemcars Thanks for checking . I experienced that before as well. Bimmercode allows you to go down to 10km . Maybe that's the lowest setting without triggering a fault. I still wonder why BMW just doesn't have it to come on as soon as the vehicle turns on like all the other carmakers. Another German automaker head scratcher ...# BMRLIFE
I coded my F30 LCI with adaptive LED/FLA camera with what you suggested and the anti-dazzle seems to be working…I’m shocked.
That’s amazing! I’ve tried this with my F80 with pre LCI LED and I can’t get it to work properly.
Interesting. I’m considering coding this on my 340i but it seems like it’s a little hit-or-miss. I’ll see if I can do some more research.
@@eddiemcars we’re you ever able to get it to work on your f80?
I have ‘18 F30 with adaptive led. Ill try this…
How are you liking it so far?
Body main controller and advance crashed safely module no longer accessable
When did this change happen?
@@eddiemcars About three weeks ago when BMW had an update of the air.
Will this fit a G series bmw? Or if you have any idea how to do it on the G82 m4? I had this active on my F87 M2 comp, worked like a charm!
I’m not sure about the G chassis cars. I’m glad you got it to work for your F87. I’ve been unsuccessful with the F80.
Did you happen to try on a G82/G22?
Hey Eddie, are you going to perform the anti dazzle on your new x3M ? I want to do it for my 23 x3M as well.
I would like to! I still haven’t dabbled in the coding yet.
My UK spec F30 with adaptive LED's is saying it has a high beam failure where it stops part of the low beam led array from lighting up correctly.
ISTA+ says open circuit error on low beam!
All adaptive functions still seem to work OK though.
I’ve had a challenge with the F80. It works sometimes then other times it’s like it doesn’t. I went back to stock until I figure it out.
@Eddie M Cars is there anywhere I can download load the bimmercode backups, my system isn't showing any, indicating that no coding changes were made. But if I had an OEM backup I could try and flash that in!
Can’t wait to try on my f80
Good luck, I was unsuccessful with my F80. 😞
@@eddiemcarsf80 need to use esys and a laptop. bit more involved but can easily diy if you’re any sort of tech inclined
What ever happened to the headlight malfunction? Did it go away or does it pop up everytime ? Ive been waiting for you to do a video on this with BimmerCode since i saw your soft close tailgate video. Thanks for that!!
You’re welcome!
Headlight malfunction goes away after coding.
Awesome, awesomeee. Appreciate the shifty reply and look forward to more videos. Im about to try this on my 14 50i
Mine is x6 e71, the original factory comes with adaptive led headlights! But there is no anti-glare effect function, only automatic switching of far and near lights. Do you know what's going on?
That is default by nature. I’m not sure if the programming for the E71 would be the same. I followed instructions from a forum member
@@eddiemcars Yes! Dude, isn't this a built-in function of the original factory? Still need programming crack? Can you help me understand, I think this anti-glare function is very cool!thank you so much
Going to have to enable this on my new M3… so ridiculous that that a feature like that isn’t allowed in the US. Apparently the government wants us to blind other drivers…
Now it looks like it’s legal!
Hey mate thought you can help me out have same car, from Australia how do you set the low beam light to come on with welcome lights tried on bemma code but won’t work
Welcome lights? Which ones? The Halos come on with the low beams if that’s what you’re referring to.
I've a 2017 G30 with Adaptive LED and High-beam assistant. Can I activate Anti-Dazzle/Anti-Glare by coding?
I don’t know if you can or not. I don’t have much experience with the G chassis cars. I wonder since adaptive lighting is legal now will they allow the functionality from BMW.
hey. same question here...any news or instructions for activating it on the g30?
@@tp23232 nope..
Hey Edward, good video and showing how it works! Question; I have a 2015 x5 xdrive35i and it had auto high beam equipped so I followed your steps and so now my auto highs only work if my fogs are one and it’s not doing the light trickery what yours is doing. You have any insight on this? I looked at my build list on BimmerCode and it had started in there “5AP Decoding for non-dazzle High-Beam Assistant” should I maybe just backup a older back up and try it again and I might have something that’s coded in that’s conflicting with it’s functioning properly?
Hi Joshua, The default coding shouldn’t affect what you’re trying to achieve. I’m not sure why it’s not functioning properly. I would restore default backup and try again. Also you’re build has the LED’s and not the Bi-Xenons?
Hey Eddie, sorry for the late reply. So it ended up working and it’s only really works when I’m in heavy traffic. When I’m driving down a single lane it seems to blast the driver in front of me and they’re only 2 or 3 car lengths away. Man these lights are bright!
And yes, I have the LED package.
Do you know how to enable this for a 2022 X5 45e? I tried your method but the menu options are different.
I don’t. I haven’t been able to play with a newer car
Work on 4 series?
I was unsuccessful on a 3 series so probably not.
I have an M550i that has this feature in it but it is not activated. Can I use this same method to code them onto my car??? I’ve seen guys online wanting to charge $100 just to code this…
The procedure and options varies widely depending the trim and model BMW. I would save a backup before exploring options
Hey Ed, I'm not sure if you have it out there or not, but did you ever do any coding on the brake force feature? I would like to code that blinking brake light feature on my X5 but all the other videos out there didn't really match the instruction for my X5. So if you did, could you direct me to one of your video that contain the brake force coding? If you don't have it, could you do a video on it? Thank you and I love all your videos by the way. Yours by far is the easiest to follow and with your extra animations included in your video are great. Thanks
Hello. I have added the flashing brake force.
I can make a detailed video on it. It's a simple adjustment but from what I notice the entire bar of lights don't not flash. It only flashes the 3rd brake lights, and the lights from the brake force. Everything else turns off until the flashes stops.
To avoid confusion with traffic I also coded the brake force distribution to be active on hard braking which is right at the limit of ABS engagement.
I can’t get this to work or the options don’t even show up in my 2022 M340i 😔
The G chassis cars have a few different options.
I haven’t played around with one so I’m not sure what’s available
Would this work the same on a 2019 G20 330i with Laser headlights?
I get a lot of questions regarding the G chassis with the laser light. I’m not too sure on that. If I had one to play with some settings that would be nice.
On an android, I am unable to select more than one 0x9c, it's a radio button instead of a check mark?
I can’t comment on the Android, but on the iPhone once you select one. It automatically checks the rest.
Hi Justin. Did you ever figure this out. I have the same problem.
Where can I do this with my laser lights
I’m not sure about the procedure to do this with laser light.
I tried with mine and no luck with laser lights..
Will doing bimmercode void the warranty?
It does not.
hello,i have BMW X5 M50 2015 F15 ,and i have problem.when i go to LUT_FLC_FOWARDLIGHTING_Y i can check all? only one i can check,not all,how to fix this problem ,
pls help me
You can check all.
So I just did this on my F85 only seems to move the low beams, high beams still just auto on and off only
I think I have this same issue, what did you end up doing?
As in, it definitely looks like I just get a lower brightness than my actual low beams.
This is because the instructions here are not properly enabling GFHB. It cannot be done via BimmerCode. This coding has to be done via eSys. I would search Bimmerpost in the F15 section for the actual instructions.
Has anyone tried this on a 2018 G01 X3? I have an M40i with LED headlights.
Not yet. Maybe soon!
I did it in my '15 F15. It works intermittently. Sometimes I can't even get the high beams on. Then next time I restart the car it works fine. Goes back and forth.
I would restore the backup. Check function of high beams. If it works. I would try to re code it
Dazzle=glare
Will this work the same with a 2015 m5? I do have the LED package
Update: tried to code it in but I'm unable to access the body domain controller, It doesn't show up
It would be under Front Electronic Module for the M5 I think. I tried it with my M3 and was unsuccessful but similar options were there. Might be worth a shot
@@eddiemcars got it figured out! Working great.
