Demonstration of making cute pinch pot flower bowls in clay

- A great beginner's make, these simple pinch pot bowls in the shape of flowers look fantastic once finished and make cute trinkets bowls or even cereal bowls if you keep the petals smaller.
This video is a speedy demonstration of how I made the two bowls and doesn't contain any instructions but, if you have any questions please ask in the comments and I'll answer as soon as I can.
I made these for a 9th birthday party activity and used decorating slips to add colour to the petals and it worked really well, the kids' bowls look fantastic.

This is so great!! Thanks for making the video. I was cutting the 'v' for each petal on a flat circle, and when I molded it into a bowl shape, each V was tearing and needed scoring and overlapping, which was more time consuming than I wanted... So this gives me a new way of making the petals without them breaking... AND, the base stays thicker and the petals get thinner as you mold them upward, taller, so it's more lightweight with a heavier base... thanks!

Do you sit them in a bowl while they are drying?
I don't but you absolutely could and it would help ensure that they kept their shape 😊
After it dries, can I use it as a regular food bowl?
If it's clay it will need firing before it can be used as a food bowl and the glazes used to decorate would need to be food safe. Clay that hasn't been fired hasn't become ceramic and will break down in liquid and break easily.
I have a silly question. Is this air dry clay or modeling clay? I’ve just started with air dry but would love to make a bowl like this.
Not silly at all ☺️ This is stoneware clay that I fire in my kiln but I see no reason why this wouldn't work equally in air drying clay ☺️
