Lyrics:
Come on out and dance
If you get the chance
We're gonna spit on the rivals
All I wanna know
Is how far you wanna go
Fighting for survival
Underneath the stars
Where we parked the cars
Ain't showing signs of stopping
Pretty little girls
Naked to their curls
Ready to lay in a coffin'
If you wanna go
I'm gonna go
I've got a fire burning
Go on take my hand
When we see the band
Baby's gonna be a big one, oh yeah
Baby's gonna be a big one

Its 2024 who else is listening to this great song.
Here brother
Yep
Here I am ( from Germany) 👍
Legendary..... down south just has a God given feeling 😊
The song and actually being down south 😅😂
About 5 seconds of this video was filmed at my old farm. We are the ones shooting in the beginning. Good times
Not even 10 seconds of fame 😂
Did you get to meet KOL?
I guess not
Thats awesome Will, nothing better than in the country shooting skeet!
@@nolangibbon3710 more than you will ever have
I've never felt more at home than when I listen to this song and watch the video. I miss my small hometown; cornfields and all. I've spent my whole life trying to escape my small town, only to realize it's exactly where I want to be!!
Isn't that the damned truth...
Spent the days of my youth doing the craziest things...
Tractor racing in the mud fields in pouring rain...
Hunting, fishing, camping...
Stain fights with wild grapes and chunks of watermelons...
Working so hard during the day and somehow finding new energy to dance and play at night with friends...
Snipe hunting...
Cow tipping...
Riding bareback on the neighbor's horses in the field...
All the while hearing the call of the world telling me the answers in life were out there...
Toured the world in the military, met new people and saw different cultures...
In all the wide world, with all the wonders I saw, the things that hit me the hardest were the small communities around the world where it all, 'felt a little like home'.
You can be dazzled, shocked and awed, but it tends to be the simplest things you find that brings your focus back to what's most important... friends, family and all the love you find in small communities like this.
That's what pulled me back down south... I wanted my sons to grow up building memories like I have, doing the types of things I did when I was their age. Nothing makes my doubts and regrets fade away faster than the laughter and smiles on their faces when they tell me about their adventures down here.
If they grow up to view the world different than I do, it won't matter because we will always have the same memories growing up, and I never tire of talking about those and they never fail to bring that laughter and smiles back.
Wow. Extremely well-said. I also joined the military as a means of escape, and it has lead me to Europe. Though the experience is invaluable, it makes me appreciate my "pathetic little town" all the more. A summer sunset in the fields means so much more to me now.
Lol... sounds like we have a lot in common, except possibly an age gap. Spent 4 years in Germany and was actually on patrol when the Berlin Wall fell. I was there the day history happened and helped welcome families that had been forced to live apart for 40 years.
Still have my chunk of the Wall sitting on my mantle at home. It took me years to really appreciate my time over seas... to appreciate, and I mean 'appreciate' in the most sincere sense of the word, the home I had left behind.
Personally, I can't think of any place I would rather be than here at home in South Texas. Me and my boys still play in the mud on our ATVs. We still have a fishing pole or 3 handy just in case we pass a small pond that looks too good to pass up.
The world is a busy place and you can get lost or just confused trying to figure out who you are... down here, it seems to just happen at a more graceful pace... sorta like those old boots that fit like no others... just takes a little time to grow into them.
Trust me, there is nothing 'pathetic' about your own small town... you'll see that with enough time, absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Jay Jenkins I was in Germany same time you were and I feel what your are sayin but there is no place like home NE OKLA !! home of KOL!
l love the end of the song when everyone starts laughing ! looks like it was fun filming this video.
this song made me miss the south and I'm not even from the South.
alceushunterx 😂😂😂😂 Love you
i am not even from USA but still... lol
alceushunterx true that
I think it made you miss warm summer nights, parties outdoors, drinking beer, sounds of soft guitar, people laughing, feeling at home and even the 'smell of summer' more than it made you miss 'the South'. This could be anywhere, really.
alceushunterx me too. Lol
This song is more country than 99% of music that is released under the "country" genre nowadays. Beautiful song.
+Daniel Fregoso you sure about that?
+Daniel Fregoso Too right, Daniel.
+Daniel Fregoso Nunca ouvi um ritmo country tão bom quanto esse...
Truer words never spoken!! But then again I wouldn't even classify most of that industrialized crap as country anyways, I'm talking about that Luke Bryan type garbage, that boy wouldn't last a day out in the real country
+JoojieXD I would say most would agree with him,I mean can you explain otherwise
This song represents anyone who grew up in a small town. Does not matter race or economic status. If you grew up in a small town like me this song is everything. A few years ago my cousin died and not long before he died he was headed to Alabama and he told me that when he died he wanted to be buried down south here in Florida. The night that his body was being brought home I played this song all night long.
totally agree
Sorry for your loss. The only thing I know that cures a broken heart 💔 is time.
I've outgrown my home town. I recently went back there for a visit & it depressed me, as it always does.
I appreciate my hometown upbringing, I really do. And even though I've moved on it will always be a part of me.
I'll always be a proud redneck albeit now living in the city.
It may seem strange, but this song reminds me of my small town in Brazil. I remember the parties, the rodeos, the people. When I hear this song on the farm I feel at home. Two different and so far away places - the southern United States and the countryside of the state of San Paolo - but so similar at the same time. I think this music is universal.
I'm Scottish, and even I feel filled with nostalgia for the south.
Haggis you're right buddy
Most southerners in USA are descendants of Scottish and Irish people by a really large percentage
Karl Marx As a Scotsman, I’ve always had an affinity with the south. Don’t know why, just feel like if I went there I’d feel home.
Strange. As a Southerner, I feel that way about Scotland.
England!
Proud Americans love this song
As a cuban immigrant it gives me the goosebumps
🇺🇸🇨🇺
This song takes everybody back to their hometowns anywhere on earth and to the most simple and beautiful things in life. It is a monument to the best moments, to family, to friendship. . To life
Well said
Amen Sister. Or Brother. 😢
Absolutely, and thank you for your words.
@@bill-zc7wv I saw a comment on another song & the guy said, "We don't look up old songs, we look up old memories." I felt that all the way down to my toes! ♥️👍
Hey Peggy, he might be right, both are intertwined. Just hearing a song brings a memory, but there are times, I play a song that its just a personal thing, epitomizes "that" time of my life.

Grew up listening to the Kings of Leon, my old man use to always play their CDs in the car and I got to know all the lyrics over the years without even realising, I'm now 18 and I can say they are my favourite band and each and every song are awesome, some which touch a place in my heart, thank you Dad.
exactly the same with me :) except I'm 20 now 👌 Their songs make me feel at home
Saoirse Doherty your dad must be young
He's 48 and the coolest dad you'll get.
Same with mine every camping trip he used to play this also took me to see tribute bands of these brings back memories
Same with me except i’m only 16
Country roads, a cooler of beer, and a car full of friends. Oh, how I miss my youth in the 80's. I never thought I would live to be 55, the way I wrecklessly lived. Then college happened, then a wife, kids, and a mortgage payment. Life goes fast folks. As John Mellencamp said in a song, "hold on to sixteen, as long as you can, changes come around soon, make us women and men."
Amen brother!
I'm 16 now i don't want to get older honestly its perfect this way!
You hit the head on the nail Brother👍
I'm in England and I wouldn't mind visiting that part of the world. Great song.
I'm from Texas and would love to see the uk. The south is definitely a sight to see. Beauty from simplicity
Likewise.
***** i am from nottingham, home town of robin hood if you loved the tales as a child. its only worth a day trip though :)
Thomas Prudden wow how can you say that London is amazing and every corner in London is enriched with loads of history every square meter has something amazing hidden underground dungeons bunkers! plus England has loads of great castles buildings and churches it also has loads of nice forests and unique small medieval villages the commentor does not know England very well! also loads of famous sights and haunted buildings great lakes great food i could go on! and i haven't scratched the surface! no offence! btw. but yeah i would love to visit the south in america looks amazing
yes i understand where you are coming from! there are loads of different cultures in England also like people that have moved here ect
The intro is so calming, it gives me a soft feeling of home...
+CoCo18041998 Totally agree, that made me love the whole song.
Hi Kings of Leon when are you going to make another song
Does it remind you of being BACK DOWN SOUTH?!
Even though this song takes place, and is written about one particular area of the United States, the south, its message is universal. Everyone has roots in one place, which will always have a special place in their heart. Kings of Leon does an incredible job of sharing their special place in this song, and makes it easy for listeners to relate to their special places, wherever they may be.
Check out “I feel home” by o.a.r
I'm from the deep South

I know you guys don't see this but I just want y'all to know that this song got me through so many tough times and somehow found me again years later to do it again and I just want to say how beautiful this song is. The same is true with pyro and a few of your others. This music will probably always be special to me, so thank you.
It's beautiful

I traveled from New Zealand to Macon, Georgia for June-July of this year with my best friend and we spent 90% of the time driving around in an open topped Jeep listening to this song. My throat catches every time I hear it. I can't wait to go back.
My hometown 👍
So is this the best place you ever visited... Georgia 🍑
I’m from NZ too (West Auckland) and that’s my plan to do too! My best friend is my American wife. Can’t wait to hit the road again after this pandemic. I love this song! :)
What a load of cringy lies.
If Kings of Leon can't make you feel something... I don't know what will.
This song brought me through a hard time when I was a young teenager and I was forced to leave home in Chattanooga,Tennessee. I spent a lot of time listening to Kings of Leon since I was younger than that. The only thing my family could send me in the mail besides letter was a CD player and some cds. The only two thing I asked for every Christmas, was a Santana CD and the new Kings of Leon albums. Best memory I can think of as a kid these days. Hard life
Hey brother, your life story is very similar and reminds me of my life story, that I also spent part of my adolescence listening to KOL brings me such good memories, different countries but similar experiences, greetings from Guatemala. By the way, I know that place in the state of Tennessee that you mention,😉✨, as well as the state of Georgia and Alabama
You made it through man. I hope you are doing ok now. God bless.
SANTANA! Greetings from Northern Ireland 👍
Kings of Leon have been the most influential band I have ever listened to. My dad used to listen to them when I was a kid so I get very nostalgic anytime I hear them. This song in particular reminds me of when my church would go to a farm called Christian way farms and have a family day that the whole church went to. I come from a small town in Kentucky where time moves by slow. So things like the fair and family reunions are the most important things to happen that year. A few years later my church quit going to that family day on Christian way farms. I used to love going and climbing on hay bails and playing with my best friend who was also my crush. I remember eating hot dogs and drinking orange Fanta in the glass bottles, feeling the hot sun on my skin. But like I said it ended and now it no longer happens. And that’s why you have to cherish every moment in life because you don’t know when it is going to be taken away from you, it’s only a matter of time.
I've never heard a song by kings of Leon I didn't like. They are by far my favorite bad. This song makes me happier to be from the south ☺️
Your fav Bad? They're not bad
+RedFox I absolutely love them haha I always have
They are superb, Katie Boone, beautifully crafted songs and fine musicians, too.
Absolutely love them, my favorite bad of all time.
anyone know name of album this song is on?please.
Thumbs up if you're still listening in 2016!! These guys influenced our sound so much...
I became a farmer after hearing this song. Just to be country.

Now that is just AWESOME!!!
Had to leave Arkansas and my family to move up North when I was 11 and I’m 20 now. I just never felt at home up here, there’s always a lingering sadness when your not where you belong. Anytime I think of Arkansas I think of this song or whenever I hear this song I think of home. I finally get to move back home to my family and the state I love so much after 9 long years! Listening to this makes me so so happy. Brings tears to my eyes. Once the south is your home, it will never release its grip on your heart!
I still remember the day I discovered this song.. it was a good day
today for me!!!
Today for me !!
Today for me
Duff Man today for me and it's f**king hot outside
Everyday i listen to this song is a good day.
Love it. Reminds me of all the parties that I don't get invited to.
I now your comment is old, but if you feel like this just organise stuff on your own.
Call up some good old friends, some colleagues you normally wouldn't do stuff with (as long as you got a good feeling being around them) and just do it !
And don't be frustrated if it doesn't work out directly.
Sometimes you just gotta show up man
I'm sorry bruh
Come to mine Bro. I am in the UK
you show up with a case of beer and a bottle of whiskey and I can almost guarantee you will be allowed to stay at the party
Oh my. This song is so beautiful. I’m from Carolina. The South is in my blood. These images capture a free and adventurous and hospitable culture that can still be found in these parts. Welcome to the South, y’all!

I'm a 70-year old hard-core rock fan, and music doesn't get any better than this! Thanks so much for posting this bit of aural genius!
Idk why, but brings tears to my eyes. Good ole kings of leon.
I still love this song as much now as I did when I first heard it 11 years ago.
I concur
This whole album hits the nostalgia button. I can smell the air
I want Kings of Leon to be the first live concert that I attend after the COVID Pandemic.
✌️❤️✊from Dublin Ireland 💚🤍🧡
Hope you got to book their upcoming tour?
Me too, tonight, Newcastle🙂
You heading to marley park July 6th 2024
My favorite song ever written in the last 50 years or more.. I bought their album for a girl I fell in love with. And I used to listen to this song always. It always reminds me of the sweetness of that moment.
I love reading comments like that. It makes such a nice change for the trolling on YT.
I hope she comes back to you someday, pal.
In the next life we'll love again, I know. By now, I enjoy life twice.
Great band even better live 👏 top notch
Spent the past two summers in Texas, it's a far cry from the grey concrete of Britain..
+Jordan (FoeHammer) maybe if you went out of the cities into your countryside you would see some very nice countryside.
I live in Yorkshire, and we have some of most beautiful and lush countryside in the world during the summer months.
However, the thing about America is that it's so vast, you can look for miles and naught but forests and rivers, which is pretty damn beautiful compared to a country where there's a village or a town every 3 miles down a country road.
Now i get it. You are drawing a paralell between uninhabited/desolate and beatiful I am not. Although i think you still can have a lot of places with scarce population in Britain too, like Wales, Exceter and Scotlan, not to mention the national parks/nature reserves.
I want to live in this kind of peace
A few years ago, I used to go outside in the winter, at night, at my grandparents' watching the starry sky and listening to this song. Right now, it brought me the same feeling of peace and happiness I had back then 😊
Come on out and dance

We're gonna spit on the rivals
All I wanna know
Is how far you wanna go
Fighting for survival

If you wanna go
I'm gonna go
I've got a fire burning
Go on take my hand
When we see the band
Baby's gonna be a big one, oh yeah
Baby's gonna be a big one
When we see the lights
And we hear the fights
It's gonna be a stunner
I've got something here
If you give me one more beer
I'm gonna call the runner
I don't wanna say
What I have to say
Babe, I'm a kicking off now
If you wanna go
I'm gonna go
I'm going back down South now
I'm going back down South now
If you wanna go
I'm going back down South now
Come on take my hand
I'm going back down South now
When we see the lights
And we hear the fights
I'm going back down South now

Man, I wish I was living in this video, looks like everybody was having a blast !
Love this song. They shot the video in my hometown. I spent countless days at that "fireworks" shop shooting pool with my buddies after school.

It's Mt. Pleasant, TN.

One of my favorite songs from the past 10 years. I love #KingsofLoen.
I live on both sides of the border between Mexico and the US, all I can say is that South Texas will always be my favorite place on Earth
"this song made me miss the south and I'm not even from the South." I'm Colombian xd.
i miss having those good ol get togethers. now everyones grown and gone i wish i could go back
Yet again, the sound is so pure, so clean, so simple, ahhhhhhh!
YES!
I love their music. They have their own print that you recognize right from the beginning. Great great group ❤️
It's the yearning in the instrumental hook and in Caleb's beautiful voice that make this great. And it's about going back to Hometowns anywhere.
This Song Gives Me Goosebumps every time i listen to it. Bravo Kings of Leon
Oh God this band is just perfect! Every song made by them deeply moves my soul :)
Tennessee is so beautiful. Enjoying my favorite band and my view of rolling hills in Texas
A beautiful hymn to our magical, mystical, unique South... A southern man..
2023.
I'm still here.
It was sophomore year of highschool. I was walking down the road to one of the greatest parties I've ever been to. It had been a great day at school and I couldn't help the smile that was on my face that afternoon in sweet anticipation of the revelry that was about to unfold that night. The party was a walk down the road from my house at one of my bestfriend's. His name was Dylan, and although I'm not as good as friends with him now as I was the then I still love him like a brother. As I walked down the road I had the sun setting in front of me but it was low enough to be below the trees and it looked like some beautiful country painting. So I put this song on my Zune(yeah I used one of those), and the greatest high came over me. It was the first night I got drunk. It was the first night I got high on pot. I even ended up making out with some girl at one point. There were a lot of people there and most of them were friends. Like I said, it was one of the greatest parties I've ever been to. But for some reason I just can't get that damn walk out of my head.
True story.
+Ethanride beautiful.
It's a beautiful memory man.
+Ethanride this guy gets it man
+Ethanride You pretty much lived my dream of a night out dude haha. I'm glad all you have to do is listen to this song to escape back to that memory. Jealous ;)

how have i never heard of this til just now? i cant listen to the kings enough now!
This takes me back to the late 90's. It's summer time, we all meet at the old gravel pit, start a bonfire, go mudding, plug the guitar amp into the cigarette lighter of the car 😂 and jam out in the woods. I miss those days.
I live this life everyday
I'm from the backwoods of North Carolina
makes me wanna go live back down south even though i never have before...

My dad's childhood friend is related to these guys. He came home one time and gave me some signed photos of them at a family reunion ❤ this is of my all time favorite band.
My brother who had an addiction introduced me to this song. He said it helped him get through his addiction. The whole band did. He passed in February of a brain embolism. Now hes got me addicted to this song. And I dont want to leave this addiction because their music helps with the loss. I played Beautiful War at his memorial...
Sorry for your loss mate. I hope you are doing better.
@@byroncudworth6918 I am....my brother has visited me on several occasions since he's passed. The other night in downtown atlanta at the bus station. There was this guy who played the guitar too. It was about 5 in the morning, and he plays my guitar for a bit. I show him what I know. Then....then he started playing this one. I automatically knew it was him. He said he wouldn't let anyone bother me with drug offers or panhandling (which is all that Atlanta is now) and I just felt safe around this dude ya know? That's how I know me and him had some type of closure.
Fireworks, baseball, muddin, and drinking parties in a field. Hot.

I used to be a kid and a teenager growing up in a small town in west TN, a place much like this video. Life was good, even if I didn't always think so..
I try to remember the kid that I was and it's like thinking about a stranger, from a past life or something, a million years ago..
I miss the peaceful, calm, beautiful simplicity of life in a small town... and I miss my youth..
