Just tried this using the same pallet but instead of free spirit as the base I used wanderer since I'm a deeper skin tone. Then followed her lead with dreamer multi-tasked and bombshell. Looks amazing. I'm so happy. Will only be doing my eyes this way from now on!

The whole "create depth" using matte shadows makes so much sense!
Before I watched this video, I used to HATE my hooded eyes that are closer to monolids.
I used to use color contacts, and Japnese eye tape products to create unnnatural
double eye lids and still hated how I looked.
You saved my life! My friends in fact notice the difference and they love my new look without using anything fake! I started accepting my natural beauty and feel much better and I am for sure happier!! Thank you so much

Hi Connie! Welcome to the club :) just take the time to practice and apply your makeup specifically to your eye shape. For my bigger lazy eye, it's droopy and the under eye line droops lower so it's bigger. So, when I apply my makeup I apply a bronzer or natural contour color on the lower lid on both eyes, but I apply it slightly darker on the larger one to make it appear as if my eyes are even. Also, I take a very nude eyeliner and line my smaller under eye line, but make sure to choose something that you can't notice. Hope this helps!

Hey Tina! I happen to stumble to your video and decided to give your technique a try. It works unexpectedly so well on me and I was able to recreate the classic yet sophisticated look! Upon watching your video I discovered some things. 1) I have a hooded eyes. 2) my eyeshadow makeup wasn't always that great because I used too big of a brush. 3) I wasn't very gentle and patient when putting on my eyeshadow- fallout problem solved after watching the way you handle it. 4) I've been highlighting my inner corner all wrong. Since I have quite dark circles I should highlight my inner corner the way you did, which is just on the upper inner corner only. It worked neatly. It's perfect! 5) I should have subscribed to your channel eons ago. I just did. Thank you so much for the video and don't stop creating more! You're gorgeous and thank you for drilling the word 'depth' into my mind! It totally works!!!

I just subscribed! Thank you for making videos like these. You and I not only have hooded lids, but your lid space is very similar to mine. That's very hard for me to find. I have a complex ethnic mixture and part of that is Chinese, so I have hooded eyelids. I've never been able to take eye makeup tips from my sisters because they didn't get the dominant hooded eyelid gene that I got from my mum. That's what made me avoid wearing eye makeup for years. Thank you, thank you, thank you for these tips. They really do help to clarify things and solidify the things I've found through trial and error. :)

I love this tutorial! What I like about your videos is that you look so much better and prettier after you have put on the make-up. I find that although some beauty gurus on UA-cam do so many things on their videos to show that they "have the skills", many times they don't really look better after they have put the make-up. Love your video and love you too Tina, can't wait to see the next one!

I just watched your video on common eyeliner mistakes where you mentioned that it's important to curl your lashes before applying eyeliner so that it doesn't ruin your eyeliner work. In this tutorial however you made your very own faux pas, oops, but luckily you only did a very thin line which did not get disturbed during curling. Can you please do some more tutorials on how to do a smokey eye for daywear using more natural, light shadow colours and different eyeliner colours other than black. Love your work Tina.

I know this is an older video but I want to thank you for keeping it up. A coworker of mine asked me before about doing smokey eyeshadow and to teach her sometime…this was back in May of this year. Work gets in the way and we never got around to it. Well, this has been one hell of a November. She was really traumatized by an event in late October, and lost a loved one in November. I told her with this awful month, maybe now is a good time to do something very “not serious”…something as pointless and mundane as a nice bit of eye makeup seems like a necessary contrast to the ultra serious and horrible time she had. It would also be nice for her to feel a little pampered (I will be massaging her shoulders and neck to relieve some stress if she is okay with it, I’m unusually good at healing massage). I just want her to feel nice. The thing is, we have such a different eye shape. I have incredibly deep-set eyes (more Mediterranean or Indian depth) whereas she is from China. I’m only used to doing my own eyes so I needed to look this up.
I say all of this to let you know that makeup can seem so silly sometimes, but it can also be really important at certain times in life. I lost my younger sister and her funeral makeup was so important to me that they got it right, I even brought her lip color to correct the dark one used by the morticians. I don’t have a younger sister anymore, so doing my younger coworker’s makeup and helping her do a smokey eye on her style of eye is something “big sister” I can do for her (with your help!)…so thank you for this video.
UPDATE: she really loved it! It worked perfectly! I used the “Orgy” palette from Jeffree Star as it can go really dark or keep it lighter. We kept it lighter for work!

Hae-Jin P In later years the face will droop as the cheeks drop. The best face shape of have is round or a square jaw in terms of aging because there is more structure on the lower half of the face. The obsession with having a pointy chin is ridiculous.......what is so wrong with looking Korean,Chinese, Japanese etc. In many Asian countries, beauty is so narrowly defined whereas in Western society it is different, there is no clearly defined ideal of beauty although many models have wide set eyes which are considered very beautiful.

    • @Minijexter
      @Minijexter 8 років тому

+scarlet minnli There are lots of tricks to use for makeup. If you don't have a primer, you can use either foundation or concealer. You don't have to use a lot, you do have to set the base with powder but this tutorial tells you to do that anyway.

shulikesclothes I finally stumbled upon a natural way to cure (or drastically reduce)
eye floaters - without the need of any expensive and harmful surgical
      procedures or products.

Thanks so much for this tutorial! I have very hooded eyes and had pretty much given up on eye shadow, but you have really helped me to see that you can dramatically change and open the shape of your eyes! I can't wait to give this a try!

Once she applied the false eyelashes, all the eye shadow techniques that she described seemed pointless. This tutorial was supposed to be about smokey eye make-up, but you don't even really notice it as soon as she puts on the false lashes. The false lashes made the biggest difference, not any of the eye shadow techniques that were supposed to create depth.

Just one thing, I thing you should have cut the inner part of the lashes a little bit, they make your eyes look slightly droopy on the outer corner.

Just an FYI: this is not a hooded eye shape. I went forever thinking I had hooded eyes, but in reality it's an almond eye shape. Hooded eyes means your brow bone sags over/covers your lid. In this case, we just have small lids, not hooded.
