@@justinatest9456 Nah I know what you're saying. For most metal bands, their first and second albums are typically more raw and heavy but somewhere along the way with more success they get better production and it loses some of that soul and passion. I haven’t listened to Korn in over 20 years (yikes). I’ve forgotten how much I love this song. Yoo BP, So stoked you are dipping into this, already a follower of most of your videos and you would probably be surprised at how much of your current audience are Korn fans. The genre is Nu Metal which Korn was one of the first pioneers, it is a blend of 90's Hip Hop and Metal. This song hits harder if you think about it through the lense of a band who feels trapped by the music industry and is just being a puppet for profit. The 'Ya'll wanna Single' music video lays it out perfectly. If you read many books, Brian Welch is one of the bands guitarist and has a great book called 'Save Me From Myself' where he talks about the early days of the band and eventually leaving for a few years after finding Christ. As said by others, the Twisted Transistor music video is awesome. Korn has always crossed over and worked with great rap and hip hop artists. They have a mix with DFB called 'Coming Undone Wit It's that goes hard and even had an album chopped and screwed by Michael 5000 Watts. Keep having fun brosoph, love the vibes from a class of 2000 kid.
JD's voice is absolutely one that takes getting used to. The hook was supposed to sit with you like it does. This video also was award winning and critically acclaimed at the time.
This was so, so fantastic. I love this reaction so much and I think it's the most interesting kind of reaction of yours where you get hyped in the music actually just takes you over. It was so much fun watching you 🎉 lol ❤
Thank you for pulling this out of storage! I love this song. Somewhere I saw a young girl nailing this song. I am glad you are giving all the different genres a chance. The drums and bass pulls me in and then the guitar . I think it slams! I cannot hold my head still,it is such a banger! 🌽🎸🎶🤘🖤

I have seen Korn 6 times live starting in 1997. They are amazing. I even saw them on tour with Ice Cube. They did a song together, Korn and Ice Cube. Children of the Korn. It's a great song. They have so many. A.D.I.D.A.S (All Day I Dream About Sex), Twist. The hardest one to listen to is Daddy. It's Jonathan Davis singing about what happened to him as a kid and it will break your heart to hear it. Great reaction, BP! Glad you tried it with the headphones! It was great to see you headbanging a little! ❤️
I saw them on tour with Slipknot and Metallica. Amazing lineup. Unfortunately, it was in Amsterdam and at the time it wasn't that common to have softdrugs be legal so they really went for it and were high af on stage and imo didn't really deliver. But that's just me.
I don't often comment on stuff but as a first time viewer and huge Korn and Slipknot fans I had to drop in and say this was an epic reaction! Especially your reaction to the 'beatbox' part. I'm so glad you put the headphones on man!
Korn is a boss! I remember this being almost like an anthem in the 90's, I graduated in 95' and this came out in 98', definitely takes me back to my youth...man, I miss being young! (48 now)...check out the rest of their music for sure!
The singer Jonathan davis has a crazy story. He puts his pain in songs. They have so many great songs. Theres an amazing biggie collab too called wake up i think
I didn't understand Korn when they first appeared, but I appreciated their intense, unique sound. The Untouchables album was what really hooked me in. X'D I borrowed it from the local library, of all places. But dude, "Tearjerker" and "Seen It All" destroyed me when I finally joined the hype train. Haunting. Korn is haunting in all the ways I didn't realize I needed.
oh my god, as a life long Korn fan, spent many a gig, festival in the mosh with them, so watching you go through a whole load of emotions and then getting it was just bloody fabulous to watch. Brilliant viewing! If you were a good Christian boy who steered away from Korn and Slipknot, did you listen to POD? Alive is a track where I did not touch the floor when I saw them live, because everyone was bouncing! oh and Jonathan (singer Korn) plays the bag pipes! check that out. I think the song is about the music industry taking from the artist and making all the money!
Yasss Korn!! This was totally my shiii growing up in the 90s this limp bizkit, linking park, rage against, system of a down. I loved the NU Metal era.. And it all fused with rap and hip hop so well actually. Also there wild live if u check out the concert from Woodstock 99 it will blow ur mind.
"Daddy" is a hell of a ride if you're looking for something heavy- Song was recorded in one take, and the vocalist (song is a story from his childhood) told the rest of the band not to stop playing/recording no matter what happened. It's the most raw, gut wrenching song I've ever heard. Gotta check it out yourself.
I was 17 when this came out, all these bands were my youth ❤ I kind of feel sad that you did not have these as your companions back then, but also awesome you are making up for lost time with going back and discovering them now. (I came from the future 😂 oct. 2024) Nice! Your reaction is 🥇
I love this channel so much your take on metal is just awesome that you can step outside you're genre with such an open mind I feel you're not working for the differences but looking at the talent involved I would love for you to check out band-maid domination and live version don't get me wrong they make good music vids but they are in their element lie 100 times better it's an all female group from Japan and probably the best rock band in the past 30 years. I'm asking you to just take a chance on something new I really think you'd love it
Jonathan Davis definitely has one of the most unique voices out there. If you thought he was letting go here... you absolutely have to hear "Daddy" but be warned, you want to be in a good place mentally when you start this video because by the end of it you won't be in a good place.
I was waiting for you to come around, This was one of my favorites from you, for real. I like seeing people turn to any music that is done well. I graduated HS in 93. Im glad you finally have EATEN som Korn ! As always, much love
One of the hardest, darkest, most gut wrenching and meaningful reactions you will ever do is Daddy by Korn. You owe it to yourself to experience truly emotional art.
Please explore more Korn!! They’re my husband’s favorite band of all time & definitely a favorite of mine too! Finally got to see them live a few years ago, and they were incredible still!
Jonathan (the singer) has been through so much, they have a song called "Daddy", it's very hard to hear because it's about him and a story of abuse with a nanny that was a family friend. It's also about how no one believed him when he came clean about it. It's brutal and a masterpiece. I think that's one of the reasons why he writes like this
That song tears me up. But it's such a hard one for people to react to. Until maybe you really know korn and Johnathon Davis. I keep seeing people react to it as their first korn song and it really puts them off I think
@@Mahoney_Hightower Yeah, I get that and it makes sense, only sugested it cause I’ve also seen the “other side”, for example Knox Hill who reacted as his first Korn song and it’s an amazing reaction and already has done more of their songs, but I really get what you’re saying, ofc
Dude, soon as I fixed my membership I come back and see this! Ren may be my favorite artist, but these guys always have a spot in my playlist. Thanks so much BP hope you like this I would LOVE more Korn!!
I think if BP listens to Daddy then he will stop listening to Korn. I agree that it helps you make more sense of where Jon's coming from lyrically, but its a heavy subject that most will turn away from them after hearing it.
I was the opposite, 90s 2000s up I was all about the heavy metal/hard rock/alt genre.. I know nothing about hip hop from that era (or most of today 😅) Broke a rib in the Mosh pit during Korns set back in ‘99 Those were the days 😂
Lol...that giant smile at 13:49 and at 14:00 where you just surrender to it is fantastic. I didn't really realize these reaction videos were a thing until a few months back. I have an array of genres in music I listen to at any given time but I'm an 'alternative grunge' girl at heart. It's funny how you don't realize what music others have never heard simply because they gravitated to a different genre growing up. I watched a Knox reaction to Smells Like Teen Spirit and couldn't believe he'd never heard it. Turns out he had, just didn't know it, but still; here we are 30 years later and we are still being introduced to and blown away by "new" music just by being open to something new and different than our own go-to. Love it!
Loved the reaction. I've been hooked since the 90's when i 1st heard the track Blind. And funny enough,.. this and stuff like limb bizkit opened the door to rap music for me as a hardrock/metal-head back then. Well,.. sure, Walk this way from Aerosmith and Run DMC before that, but you know,.. The background on this lead -singer, who was indeed wearing a kilt, is some heavy stuff that I'm not willing to write in public, but let's say he's been through some truely fucked up shit. Some of which you could find out through songs like Daddy. But make sure you're in a stable headspace if/when you go into that track. I've seen plenty of good suggestions for other Korn tracks, so I'm not gonna add more, besides mentioning that they did a very good MTV Unplugged show aswell, in case you're interested.
When you said “I don’t know if this is old or what”, I giggled a little. It still feels like a new find to me. Dammit I really am getting old. I guess I was old when I found them and I sure loved them. Way fun with the younguns when I saw them live. 🎉

One of the best concerts ever was the family values tour. I got to see korn, ice cube, and Rammstein all in one place and my life hasn't been the same since. Concerts haven't measured up since the 90s for me
Omg I am so excited you did Korn!!!! Still rock them all the time after over 20 years!!! And if you ever saw Queen of the Damned in 2002… it wasn’t actor playing the vampire Lestat actually singing- it was Jonathan Davis - the lead singer of Korn- most remember Aaliyah being in it because she passed before it came out- But he wrote and sang all the songs the actor lip sings in the movie. Also- johnathan Davis has a very dark childhood- he has spoken about it before/ and there is one song he wrote and recorded live and it’s the most heartbreaking and very intense he couldn’t do it again, I don’t think he ever sang it live. But there is a story there/ just know that- I don’t feel the need to spread it here/ those who want to know can just do the research- but it’s been so long- I don’t think it needs to be retold again currently when it’s out there if you really want to know. Truly gifted! Love them still!
BP, get ready to dive deep…”Head” first! you’re gonna enjoy the depths of the music. it does get dark, some gets VERY dark. (ie Daddy) if you want recommendations: Got the Life (about becoming famous) Blind (their first single) Falling Away From Me (about child abuse) Shoots & Ladders (play on nursery rhymes) Coming Undone (about mental breakdowns) Alone I Break (pretty self explanatory) Clown (about being bullied in school) sorry for the long post, but there are many, many others that are also fantastic songs!

Later stuff? They have released like 10 albums since the one with this song on, i'd call it their earlier stuff
This is their early stuff, and lots of the albums after the 2 first albums, got even harder
@@0x2A_ Their first album was special, their second was alright, and I never bothered with them after that, after hearing songs like this one. To me this was their "later stuff". They'd lost their swag by this point imo.
Got The Life was a banger though.
@@justinatest9456 Nah I know what you're saying. For most metal bands, their first and second albums are typically more raw and heavy but somewhere along the way with more success they get better production and it loses some of that soul and passion. To note, SOAD, Slipknot, Korn, Deftones, even Limp Bizkit, had very raw and passionate debuts.
Blind was *chefs kiss*
Its the moment we were all watching this to see you EXPERIENCE. 💯😎
I’m sitting here like… wait till he starts scatting! Lol
Korn the song blind from Woodstock 99. Best live performance ever. Never seen a crowd so crazy.
OMG! 🤣 Ur face when that drop hit was Priceless!! And hell yes!! 🙌🙌 Follow this with Falling away from me!
took me 25 years or so to see them live, and i finally saw them last year, they did not disappoint, been a fan since they came out, but never got to see them live.. Shoots and ladders live was nuts..
Korn is a lot to take in as a first time listen. I went through this same reaction when I first heard them, now I love them.
He should've started with "Got the Life" music video. It leans to Pegasus's style.
I haven’t listened to Korn in over 20 years (yikes). I’ve forgotten how much I love this song. Its raw angsty emotion really spoke to 15 year old stuck in catholic school Corinne. 38 year old Corinne totally appreciates it on a whole different level now. Damn BP- are you going to get me back into Nu-Metal after I’ve sworn off of it for almost two decades?!
I fell off like 12ish years ago with keeping up with them, and I have to say the newest album is one of my favorites.
Your facial expressions got Korn’ed. 🤣
I was 18 when this came out… and that beat drop “GO!” still hits just as hard!
Make sure to check out a live version of him playing the bagpipes! 🤘🏼
From a long time Korn fan, I have no words. Your reaction said it all! =)
Yoo BP,
So stoked you are dipping into this, already a follower of most of your videos and you would probably be surprised at how much of your current audience are Korn fans.
I think you would really like Shoots & Ladders. It has bagpipes in the beginning 😆💜✌🏽
You have to watch "Falling Away From Me" next..its literally part 2 of "Freak On A Leash" the video starts right where this video ends. Listen to th at one next.
Fuck yeah! Korn is great
I have seen Korn 6 times live starting in 1997.
Family Values Tour was amazing! I saw the show live in Biloxi. Man, those were some good times in the late 90s.
I love how hard he attacks the bass during the chorus, you can literally hear the strings rattle
Theres an amazing biggie collab too called wake up i think
aww one of my all time favorite bands since they started, you have to check out more of their stuff
He wrote the song as a statement against record labels and censorship.
The facial expressions are 🤌🤌🤌🤌. Haven't heard this in a long time. So thank you for the flash back, and the great reaction!!
Such a gut wrenching raw story for sure. You feel Jonathan's pain.
Dude can hardly handle the R word in this song, and you are trying to get him to look at Daddy? lol
@@Desu-Desu-Chan-San He just seemed a little surprised he didn't notice it to me
Maybe not the next song in but in due time for sure.
Yea not really a good song to check out if your just getting into Korn.
I was 17 when this came out, all these bands were my youth ❤ I kind of feel sad that you did not have these as your companions back then, but also awesome you are making up for lost time with going back and discovering them now. (I came from the future 😂 oct. 2024) Nice! Your reaction is 🥇
Wait until he finds out that Jon plays the bagpipes.
YES I am finally getting a chance to watch. You know these boys are my favorite! So happy to see you onto KoRn!
I'm asking you to just take a chance on something new I really think you'd love it
I love reactions to metal especially when those who get converted finally get it and properly enjoy the sound and meaning to the music. Great reaction
Jonathan Davis definitely has one of the most unique voices out there.
If you thought he was letting go here... you absolutely have to hear "Daddy" but be warned, you want to be in a good place mentally when you start this video because by the end of it you won't be in a good place.
Yes-Scottish heritage and plays the bagpipes-Shoots and Ladders starts off w him playing them🥰😁🖤
If you want a ride listen to shoots and ladders
By far my favorite song by Korn, I'm a bit biased though as I love the Bag Pipes lol
Still waiting on some Deftones bruh!!! No pressure..lmao
💯💯💯
Fuck yes!
One of the best reactions I've seen in awhile; you took the time to back up and reconsider. I'm impressed.
You seriously do need to listen to Daddy. True story, real emotion, and puts you more into his head with his writing.
Great reaction ! I love when people finally get to the (beatbox) part and always flip out , I’ve been listening to this song since 98.
Jonathan (the singer) has been through so much, they have a song called "Daddy", it's very hard to hear because it's about him and a story of abuse with a nanny that was a family friend. It's also about how no one believed him when he came clean about it. It's brutal and a masterpiece. I think that's one of the reasons why he writes like this
That song would make for a great reaction, but god it's brutal.
That song tears me up. But it's such a hard one for people to react to. Until maybe you really know korn and Johnathon Davis. I keep seeing people react to it as their first korn song and it really puts them off I think
@@zachhenderson7982 I know, right?? That’s why I mentioned its background, it really is a brutal masterpiece
I think you gotta listen to Daddy by Korn then a lot of the lyrics make more sense from his albums. Also it's a messed up song just a PSA.
I know nothing about hip hop from that era (or most of today 😅)
Broke a rib in the Mosh pit during Korns set back in ‘99
Those were the days 😂
Gosh, I saw them live 20 years ago.... on tour with Snoop! This brings back memories!
Love it!
One of my favs !! Thanks for this BP... loved your reaction❤
Best korn reaction ever! Gotta do more korn songs! Greetings from Portugal 🇵🇹🤘🎸🥁
Yesss! One of my favourite bands... seen time live 8 times and they never disappoint! 🤘🤘Love your reactions BP. Much love from the UK
Black.....Pegasus!!!
Hell Yeah!
Korn's sound always reminded me of Faith no more ❤
Loved the reaction.
Love your reactions bro, love how you came around on this one too!
When you said “I don’t know if this is old or what”, I giggled a little. It still feels like a new find to me. Dammit I really am getting old. I guess I was old when I found them and I sure loved them. Way fun with the younguns when I saw them live. 🎉
I love this one a lot it always hypes me up. It builds as you said he just let's go and release. And more you listen to it the better it gets
Same as you I let korn slide by in my teens. Discovered them big time back in February. Biggest fan boy now 👊👊👊 the bassline in this song is marvelous stuff
As a korn fan, I love your review on it. It’s almost a year old and I just discovered this. You’re a real one
Really enjoyed watching the evolution of you discovering the magic here he does just let go and it's so freeing and liberating for kids who grew up not being able to do that
Ooooo I can never wait for the reaction to the Rasta metal scat,
also seeing your conversion over the whole video is great.
I always forget how much I love this song till it randomly comes on.
Korn "Beat It Up Right" .....Johnathon Davis is a musical genius he wrote most of the music for the movie Queen of the Damned
I could fall asleep to you reading Korn lyrics softly in my ear
One of the best concerts ever was the family values tour. I got to see korn, ice cube, and Rammstein all in one place and my life hasn't been the same since. Concerts haven't measured up since the 90s for me
Omg I am so excited you did Korn!!!! Still rock them all the time after over 20 years!!!
And if you ever saw Queen of the Damned in 2002… it wasn’t actor playing the vampire Lestat actually singing- it was Jonathan Davis - the lead singer of Korn- most remember Aaliyah being in it because she passed before it came out-
But he wrote and sang all the songs the actor lip sings in the movie.
(ie Daddy)
if you want recommendations:
Got the Life (about becoming famous)
Blind (their first single)
Falling Away From Me (about child abuse)
Shoots & Ladders (play on nursery rhymes)
Coming Undone (about mental breakdowns)
Alone I Break (pretty self explanatory)
Clown (about being bullied in school)
sorry for the long post, but there are many, many others that are also fantastic songs!
LOL, Bro it was great to see you come to love a song that's from my favorite band of all time. Glad you found them and enjoyed what you heard. Very Cool!
Watching the shift happen after the headphones, watching you get into it and really start feeling it. Good stuff!
headphones are definately better for Korn and Slipknot and Tool :D You da man, Loved your take on Money Game, btw!!
..and keep up the good work with the rest of your reactions..btw love your Ren reactions.
I was a Korn fan growing up. But also 90s rap to Limp Bizkit (they were local to me and pushed by Korn actually) but this music along with Manson and others in the genre were instrumental in my childhood and delaing with certain issues i grew up with.
Great reaction.
