Not ash Dave, heavy mineral sand. The islands are full of it and is still being mined on Stradbroke Island. We mine it to make white paint, China and lipstick (well makeup), among other things. Run a magnet through it and you’ll find it’s magnetic. From your friendly local Geo.
@@daztaylor3216 yes ilmenite (for the titanium), also rutile (also titanium plus some rare earth minerals) and zircon. All used to make fine ceramics, white pigments in paints, paper, cardboard, plastics, sunscreens, make-up, welding electrodes, super conductors and all that good stuff...
Cool, I was made redundant from RGC many years ago when they became iluka because I was was not really interested in playing in the WA sandpits, was told I had a different job and would be notified in due course...boss handed me 4 weeks notice!
I am building an off road caravan but have been watching your videos for sometime now. Finally subscribed. I get your excitement and I too can't wait to get amongst our great country. Hope to see you along our travels one day. Have fun!
Great video DASH. That Murts Y62 sounds great. I wanted to get a Torqit exhaust system for my y62, but it was a bit pricey. Just replaced the suitcase with a straight through stainless job. Happy so far with it. Looking forward to the next installment.
You guys will be fine with Inskip like you have seen once your past the trees it’s fairly good. Once you hit the island I would take the inland track depending on the tide it’s a bit rough but the sand down the bottom end can be quite soft in places and when the tide is in you can’t always get past on the beach it caught us out once and we had to wait it out. Enjoy the trip you will love the place I’ve been 3 times now from vic and I plan to go back many more times it’s definitely worth the 20+ drive
Haha the excitement mate is worth bottling. It’s exactly the same every time we head over A Grin from ear to ear. Watch your face mate towards the end of vid, it says it all. Great stuff. Must warn you though, it’s the exact opposite when you come off the island 😫, it’s the pits.
So the trailer mate, we have got a mchitch as well, and just concerned that when you hit the car onto the van, the post has to take all the force, that’s not going to be too much impact? We would also enjoy the extra height of the trailer mate. Cheers
Hi really enjoying your Vlogs. I went to Fraser 3 years ago now it was one of my favourite trips that the wife I have done and the high country is my happy place. You will love it also I am from the dark side with a 200 series ha ha. Keep up the great content.
Inskip is not always that hard and solid. There has been quite significant rain in the last month and that makes a big difference to the sand/track condition. The majority of issues are the inexperienced or overconfident not adjusting pressures and driving to conditions. Obviously the 62s on big tyres and big power to weight are still going to perform at highway pressures, but imagine how easy they would do it with half that pressure in the tyres.
62 life .Always in a petrol station..... George must be the recovery vehicle because he isn't towing....... Inskip is probably firm because of rain. I have seen videos where it is soft as.
Your right it just sounds so nice. I’ve watched so many Inskip videos, & that Nissan just creamed it in. Also too you weak southerners complaining about the humidity down there come up here to Cairns. It’s bloody humid up here.
Great Video Dave, Looks like you guys will have a good time the sand is nice and hard. I've been up there plenty of times and the sand is like talcum powder. , Enjoy your trip, its a great place. The only thing that spoils it is the cock heads that go there. Welcome to QLD and enjoy your trip. :-) Just watched a video on FB the barge operators have been soaking the shit out of the sand at inskip.

Excellent vlog. That sand thing was good. Loving the Y62 sounds. Can’t wait to see you towing the van on the sand and on Fraser.
Diggin the new dash in Trav camper's 62.
I think the Y62s would be a great candidate for portals axles, it would solve so many suspension obstacles.
Portals on something with independent suspension? Yeah nah.
Great video mate, you have nearly got me trading in my 200 after these videos.
I CAN FEEL YOUR EXCITEMENT over here in Adelaide of you doing this vlog. Cant wait for the next one.👍👍👍
Pleasure to meet you lads in person finally! Have a ripper trip mate!

Must be at I skip on a good day and low tide. I’ve been there many time and the sand can get that powdery and soft. Have fun

13.50ish Dave is talking about crimping and in the background maybe one of ilias kids or someome saying "stop it" in persian 🤣🤣🤣
Not sure if you have already covered this but listening to your car, the exhaust sounds awesome...Have you put on a special exhaust?
What sort of costs does a wrap cost like you have? Happy to see someone from Adelaide on youtube
It isn’t a wrap, it’s Bush Barrier, they are magnetic paint protection 👍
How is the gvm with all the gears on the car and towing the big caravan ?
If you're with Telsra you should be able to upload at most of the island but if your with Optus probably only at Eurong and King Fisher resorts.

I take it you are quite excited about Fraser.??🤔
Does Y62 need the trans locker kit ? in your opinion ?
How do you find the BushBarrier's on the highway doing 100+?
Loving these vlogs mate!👌🍻
Seen you guys yesterday on the Hwy, great work 🤙
Who does bush barriers for y61
Random question. Did you complete your apprenticeship?
Do you know what I love about these videos? He obviously has zero fucks about Corona and he manages to dodge it the whole way! lol
That Inskip sand was probably hard enough that a Toyota could get through.
Ive set notifications to full noise on the channel i follow "i got bogged at inskip" 😂 dont let me down mate lol.
Bro, why did you pick 35-inch tires rather than 37-inch ?
Hey mate, Which camp site is this at inskip?
Can’t remember, I just pulled in and got the first open spot
62 life .Always in a petrol station..... George must be the recovery vehicle because he isn't towing....... Inskip is probably firm because of rain. I have seen videos where it is soft as.
I know I was just there. I cant understand what all the fuss is about. Must just be the 40psi club that have issues 😂
